And so the end is neigh.
After the EIC we basically released that we kinda wanted a break or even call that our last competitive tournament, we have been fighting together now for nearly 1.5 years for those who were in the first 17e even 2+ years and it has come to the point of where we all feel like we are done.
The competitive scene is not anymore what it used to be, we are fighting in circles as it feels, KKA, 66th some other regiment and repeat week in, week out.
This has been draining our motivation like a lot, I dont want to say this is it and we are done, because that is not true we want to continue as a community we have been playing together now for some time in NW aswell as other games.
We would like to continue this trend of playing games together so I will keep the ts up and will keep playing together in what ever game we feel fit, we will still do the occasional NW event or Holdfast as Holdfast atm is just a bit of a meme which is rather fun.
In terms of the members who would like to continue playing competitive it being in the upcoming RGL feel free to join any other regiment for that, no grudges will be held for that.
Tomorrow will be giving some further details to anyone that is interested for that.
As a personal word towards all the members that stayed with me since the moment they joined I would like to thank you for that, you have given me some of the most fun times in NW ever and if it was not for my irl life preventing me from being active and the rather poor state of the competitive community in NW I would have loved to continue with you guys, you are by far the best regimental members a Colonel could ask for.
A big shout out to all of our old COs/NCOs who have come and gone over the past 2 years such as Harris and Aximus who played big parts and of course the current COs aka Big Shaq aka Jammo, Caskie, Etherton and all of our superb NCO's of the regiment that helped maintaining the regiment as it was and helped me buidling it up from the start to what we have become.

The event will be hosted every Friday at 7:00pm GMT / 2pm EST! The server name will be 17e_Official_Server, sign ups are made through this forum and can also me made on steam via messaging one of the officers named below or via our teamspeak. The password will be handed out via Steam by one of the contacts at 6:45 pm GMT Please bring your men onto the server as soon as you have the password for a start as close to 7pm GMT as is possible. The event will consists of 4-6 Rounds with 2-3 per map. LINE INFANTRY RULES *May only fire when in a FULL line formation or a properly formed anti-cav formation. *May only start a melee charge after forming up into a proper line and only from a close distance from the enemy *No weapons may be fired during the charge. *May not crouch except when formed in an anti cav formation or a double rank. *Must maintain a line formation at all times. *May not reload out of formation or in the charge. *May only move out in a column or double column. *May advance or retreat a short distance if they maintain a line formation. *Lines MUST have a minimum of 10 people to signup and have a maximum of 35 people per line | Main Event Rules *Anyone who gets a kill by breaking any of the Event Rules will be slain immediately! *Anyone who repeatedly breaks the rules will be slain! *No teamkilling! *No Ramboing! *No trolling! *No abusive behaviour! *No Spamming! *No musketoons! *Obey the admins! *No glitching! *No Officer aim *No prolonging the round! Regimental Command  Colonel (Col) Spoiler The Colonel is the commander of the regiment. They have the final say on all decisions and primarily lead in events. They will be extremely experienced in leadership, make key decisions within the regiment and will be the commanding officer of their specific detachment. [close] |  Lieutenant (Lt) Spoiler The Lieutenant is the 2nd in command of his detachment and a strong supporting officer. They are expected to have strong leadership capabilities and are expected to assist the Capitaine in running the detachment aswell as leading during events. [close] |  Sous-Lieutenant (SLt) Spoiler The Sous-Lieutenant is a supporting officer rank within the regiment and will be expected to have leadership skills aswell as be able to support the Lieutenant and Capitaine in enforcing discipline and control in events.  Adjudant-Chef (AdjC) Spoiler The Adjudant-Chef is the commanding NCO of the regiment and is expected to be extremely disciplined and active. During line battles they will support the officers by enforcing discipline, taking leadership of NCOs and assisting in administrative work when required. [close] |  Adjudant (Adj) Spoiler The Adjudant is the more of an administration role within the regiment. An adjudant will be required to do any long, tedious or annoying work the officers of the regiment do not wish to do. They will also support the Adjudant-Chef in any extra administrative duties. [close] |  Sergent-Major (SjtM) Spoiler The Sergent-Major is another extremely disciplined NCO and their focus is to keep control and discipline of the rankers during any event, training or debrief ceremony. [close] |  Sergent (Sgt) Spoiler The Sergent is required to assist in keeping discipline and control within the regiments and will support the Sergent-Major and Adjudant-Chef when they are required. An ESO is expected to be an active and disciplined member of the regiment and has proven their worth during events to be trialled for NCO. [close] |

 Spoiler The Caporal Fourrier de Premiere is the strongest and most skilled member of the regiment. Their ability should never be brought into question and only one can ever exist. [close] |  Caporal-Fourrier (CplFo) Spoiler The Caporal Fourrier is required to be a strong melee member with good activity. They are normally a long serving member of the regiment and are the strength of the regiment and regularly get chances to compete for the CplFoP position. [close] |  Caporal (Cpl) Spoiler The Caporal is a member who has proven their melee ability, leadership ability or is a long serving member to the regiment. They should be aiming to reach either ESO or CplFo if they can. [close] |  Soldat de Première (SoP) Spoiler The Soldat de Premiere is an active member of the regiment and has made strong progress since joining or has been in the regiment for a good length of time. [close] |  Soldat de Deuxième (SoD) Spoiler The Soldat de Deuxieme is an active member of the regiment who has recently showed progress and activity to be promoted from the rank of Cadet. [close] |  Cadet (Cad) Spoiler The Cadet is a new member to the regiment and has recently joined. They are required to show up to events and shouldnt teamkill, troll or break rules during their starting period. They are normally promoted after a week or two. [close] |
At the height of the French Revolution, every French regiment was assigned a number according to the age of their formation. This caused the régiment d’Auvergne to become the 17e régiment d’infanterie. When it was formed, it was orignianlly known as the 17e demi-brigade de bataille which consisted of the 1st battalion of the 9e régiment d'infanterie de ligne , the 2nd battalion of volunteers of the department of India and the 3rd battalion of volunteers of Seine-Inférieure. 3 years after the formation of the 17e in 1796 parts of the French army merged together and then consisted of the 33e régiment d'infanterie, 1er bataillon du 17e régiment d’infanterie, 5e bataillon de volontaires de la Sarthe and 1er bataillon de volontaires colonial of Port-au-Prince), 178e demi-brigade de bataille (2e bataillon du 99e régiment d'infanterie, 6e bataillon de volontaires de Nord and de volontaires de la Seine-Inférieure), demi-brigade d'Eure and Landes (3e bataillon de volontaires de la Eure, 5e bataillon de volontaires de la Landes and 6e bataillon de volontaires de la Haute-Garonne). Throughout Napoleon Bonaparte's restructuring of the French army the 17e demi-brigade de bataille then became the 17e régiment d’infanterie de ligne ready to serve throughout the Napoleonic wars and throughout the war, the 17e played a big part in the Battle of Austerlitz, Battle of Jena and Battle of Borodino to name a few.
Going past the Napoleonic wars in 1854 the regiment loses the "de ligne" on it's name as part of the changing warfare system of Europe at the time, and by WW1 when France was mobilizing in 1914, the 17e gave birth to the 217e régiment d'infanterie who fought throughout the war and Finally in 1921 the 17e régiment d’infanterie was abolished after 128 years of service to the French empire.
Going past the Napoleonic wars in 1854 the regiment loses the "de ligne" on it's name as part of the changing warfare system of Europe at the time, and by WW1 when France was mobilizing in 1914, the 17e gave birth to the 217e régiment d'infanterie who fought throughout the war and Finally in 1921 the 17e régiment d’infanterie was abolished after 128 years of service to the French empire.
