Not really aware of all the 'backstage' stuff but last 5v5 tournament, ChimpZ gave FT the hardest fight by far. While I'm not saying they will necessarily perform as good as they did in the 9v9, it would be a shame not to have them.

Issue with having 9 teams is one team gets a free pass. 8, 16, 32, etc is the best for tournaments as no one gets a free pass.
