Modern glasses in reenacting... Get prescriptions in period frames or go without and not carry a weapon. A great impression can be immediately ruined by someone with shit on their face. May as well be wearing stunna shades.

Or just see if prescription contacts do the job. We can't even have glasses worn around the camp because we predate them by about 40 years.

I wouldnt wear contacts during reenacting.    Contact are made out of plastic sorts, they can melt if exposed to specific heat.   One lady was cooking on the grill and the contacts done went melted in her eyes and made her perma-blind.

I'd stick with me period glasses or just go without.

I have period glasses for ww2, love them  but for ACW i dont and i wont. They charge it over 100 for two tiny spec you will ever see, so i've been doing ACW blind and been killing the wrong team.

I already feared that contacts wouldn't be a good idea, with burning flints and exploding pan charges everywhere.

I'm glad I sticked to period glasses.

I've not had any problems with contacts when volleying. So long as the guy next to you is safe in firing, e.g. Angling his lock up instead of right at your face there shouldn't be many problems!
Worn mine since I started, I had a pair of period specs but just found them so uncomfortable I decided to stick with contacts

Thanks for the hilarious comments and picture edits. The guy with the modern glasses was a guest who's in the Army National Guard. Him and I both are blind as bats without glasses, but is decided to take mine off, because I didn't want to ruin the look. He REALLY needed them. It was for his own safety that we decided to let him use them. I had trouble seeing myself, but it could make out blobs to be enemies and colors, bla bla bla.

I have no problems with that, I was in the same boat. Without glasses I can see about 5cm in front of me, after that it becomes one big blur. I just couldn't do without them, luckily I have period glasses now.

Repro frames are cheap and you can get your prescriptions put into them at any ol' place.

I had a lot of trouble getting used to round glasses, I can't really place how but they looked different from my usual glasses.

I'm fine now, except for there's some burn marks on my reenactment glasses and I can't find a way to brush it off.

I just decided not to go with the period specs... I found them uncomfortable and just generally thought I'd benefit more from contacts as I can wear them outside events too. Only issue I've had is getting the buggers in on hot days when I can't get my eye open as I'm sweating too much!
