If I ever end up doing medieval, I'll dress up in a white tunic, with a white hood and big leather belt filled with throwing knifes. I'll also put something extra up in my sleeve and once I'm done up dressing, I'll jump into the nearest haystack.

Certain people will get it.

Half of me is jealous of you yanks and your renaissance faires.

The other half thinks I'd turn up, see a guy wearing stupid fantasy bracers and have a stroke.

Definately, steampunks took over the faire. Sorry about that but there is some group that looks the part. Like templar knights.

But those farby thing are usually visitors. ooo i wanna dress up as i go.  The people who actually runs the booth, show, shops and stuff are more authentic.

Im not a expert in that time frame but there was a group that does militia stuff. They were pretty cool to let me have a private lesson thing. They dont let pubs touch or anything for safety reason but apparently this guy recognized my dad and was  big fan of him. So he invited me into his camp and taught me how to hold long long stick thingy.

Those stuff, taught me how to use it and explained what they're used for. Then he showed me musket blunberbuss thingy

Like that, again i apologize, medieval is not my well area of knowledge and this was two years ago. I forgot what they're called.

Damn heavy to carry one btw.

We're well before gunpowder weaponry, aiming at about 1250, though we have the extra equipment (mostly helmets) to go earlier and can do later at a stretch.

Spears are a pain in the arse, though. Ours are about 7-8 feet long and made of ash wood. It's unsafe to carry them in the easiest way because someone could get jabbed in the face, so we have to hold them above our shoulders, pointing down.

This is the closest picture I could find, albeit with terrible stances.

The guy on the right is decidedly not safe, it looks a lot like he's going for an overhead swing which is going to fall short and hit his buddy in the face with the point.

p.s. Cyberpunk is far better than Steampunk. Goddamn Victorians.

But since I love German history, I'd like to go with Teutonic Knight.

Cyberpunk is basically regular punk with a robotic arm stuck on, but I don't think anyone actually dresses like they're out of a Shadowrun game.
Steampunk isn't really deserving of the name at all.

But I dress like I'm in a 90s grunge band, so what do I know. Dressing like I'm from the past is a speciality.

Dressing from the past is definately a reenactor speciality.

Actually i take that back, i know many people who get in uniform at the last minute and get rid of them away when event ends.  :c

But I actually do spend alot of time in my uniform and stuff than my civvies. Now that Im getting into US Gi/Marine Impression. Tons of stuff Im ready to hit the neighborhood with haha. Them US navy denim <3  Im wearing my red wool flannel shirt as i type right now. Getting through the itchy phase so i can be comfortable next weekend.

Depending on the event for how close it is, I typically drive up in civvies and wear the reenacting cap (for whatever event it may be) and get changed at my truck. But after the event is over, I'll drive back with period clothes on and then modern shoes so I'm not having any trouble with the gas pedal.
Humans are extremely complicated creatures. Death uncomplicates them to a frightening degree...

I can't help but notice that a lot of the pictures at Hoogstraten are about the French, with the allies being a little extra. We deserve credit as well.... :(
