An Introduction to the 29th

This part is to be filled in by LeCedric as I have no idea what he wants here since he is really Turk.

29th's Military History

Beginning their military service in 1694, the 29th saw combat in the War of the Spanish Succession and in the siege of Ostend. In 1745 the regiment was sent to Fortress Louisbourg on Cape Breton Island and would later partake in the Port-la-Joye Massacre where the regiment sustained massive casualties due to them not having weapons (This would lead to the British Army having a new system of having all their officers armed with a sword even when off duty, a tradition that continues to this day). However, the 29th is most famous for it's role in the Boston Massacre alongside the 14th Regiment of Foot. On the evening of March 5th, 1770, men comprising the grenadier company of the 29th under Captain Thomas Preston shot and killed five colonists after being cornered by a large mob. Later the men involved would be tried but only two involved were convicted and only received a branding for manslaughter on their thumb. The remainder were found to be not guilty and the 29th was sent out of Boston to British Florida where they would stay until 1773. After this though, the 29th would find themselves in New England once again, except this time they would be fighting the Americans in a real war. Participating in the relief of Quebec City, the 29th took a heavy casualty in the form of their CO, Lt. Col Patrick Gordon. Although replaced, his loss was unexpected and brought grief from many men. Later in the war, the 29th would see action at Hubbardton, Battle of Freeman's Farm, the Battle of Bemis Heights, and took part in multiple skirmishes along the Vermont and New York Frontiers for the remainder of the war before finally returning to England in 1787. In the Napoleonic Wars the 29th found themselves a part of the Anglo-Russian Invasion of Holland and the Peninsular War in 1808. The 29th would end up fighting in multiple battles, such as Roliça, Vimeiro, Grijo, Talavera, and Albuera. The 29th sustained extended casualties in nearly all of the aforementioned battles and would prove themselves not only to their fellow men but by the Duke of Wellington himself, Sir Arthur Wellesley. There is even a quote from him that goes, "I wish very much that some measures could be adopted to get recruits for the 29th Regiment, it is the best Regiment in this Army, has an admirable internal system and excellent Non-Commissioned Officers." After the Napoleonic Wars the regiment would find itself serving in the War of 1812 but would soon find themselves recalled once again to face Napoleon in the Hundred Days campaign. After this the regiment would find itself in the 1st Anglo-Sikh War, 2nd Anglo-Sikh War, and the Indian Mutiny.

Nice thread, good luck.
Dont want to be the grammar nazi, but your title says Recuting rather than Recruiting. ^^
have you considered going sailors and/or partizani might ruin the lb for other regiments?
Itll ruin it for others? id say make it more fun to see a bunch of partizani or sailors rushing b

Good Luck
Arminius/Dennis Bergkamp/Tristan Bouvier/J.P. ...

All my life I’ve been fearful of defeat. But now that it has come it’s not near as terrible as I’d expected. The sun still shines, water still tastes good…glory is all well and good but life is enough, nay?
