Also because nobody is going to read all of the applications anyway.Personally I feel it should be up to head admins to pick out the people they want to create a bridge between dev and community with, then encourage the community to get on board with the idea
The trouble with that is the possibility of favoritism and nepotism amongst the administration, and Vincenzo in his wisdom may just select 10 representatives who agree with his every wish. That's my thoughts on that, at least.
I have the following idea:
1. The Devs and current (head) admins get together and make a list of people they consider capable of doing this. They pm them, ask the chosen people if they want to, and then post a list of those who are willing to enter this board.
2. The community elects the people by a vote-by-post system. No polls.
This way, we avoid a couple of things. Firstly, we avoid (popular) trolls. Secondly, we avoid people who kiss the asses of the Devs. Thirdly, we avoid the possibility of popular people being chosen over capable people.
Unfortunately we would be instantly accused of favoritism, for how dare we vet one person and not another? Are they not equal members of the community?
We are putting the burden of responsibility entirely onto the community to choose its representatives. We respect the community, and value its input. One vote per person, as many applicants as there can be. It could not be more democratic. I am a community member, I will carefully chose my vote, I hope every other community member will do the same.
Anonymous or exposed? Anonymous would probably lead to mass regimental voting.
People will be able to see who votes for whom. But why would regiment members not vote for a leader? Are they not members of the community as well? Should they not vote who they think will best be a representative?
They are community members, but Not exactly, regiment members will get their friends to create accounts just to vote, which can lead to big regiments voting someone who REALLY doesn't deserve the position as representative. They aren't really community members if all they did in their forum life was vote for their bud.
To Fix that I think either a selection, or an election, instead of popular vote. The pubs would get several(depends on how many), and each regiment would get one. They would vote, then the people (with a popular vote) Have some sort of math equation to put them into one number, make it curved (so they are all equally represented) and then also have the devs have a say in it.

Why do you think you can speak for the community? Well, I am going to give this a shot. Although I have no intention of winning, you miss 100% of the shots you don't take. So, I shall try, and give you a 'somewhat' brief representation of me, and what I stand for.
Some of you may know me, some of you may not. My Core ideology of government and of people is freedom, representation, and power. Now that we are "creating" this position for the public I feel that this is becoming a government style system of democracy. for you to better understand my mindset on this you must understand several things about me, and the system of representatives. I am a Libertarian, for the Europeans and the people who are not involved in politics I will explain. Libertarians believe in freedom, and representation above all. They believe Local government should have the power above state (province), and the state above the federal. They believe in the absence of most laws suppressing freedom. And most of all, REPRESENTATION! Representation is a very serious thing to consider about this community. If you choose the wrong one you may be snuffed in the hordes of powerful regiments, or big name players. You may be pushed aside as one person, with an outlandish complaint. But I tell you this my fellow Mountainbladers/Napoleonic Worriers. You the people have the power over the devs to get what you want. You have the power to lobby, press, and boycott them into having them bend over backward!s(that's not what we want but it's just a point.) without the people the country is nothing, without the players the game, fully based on MP, is nothing.
I am currently the leader of the 29th Worcestershire Regiment of foot and proud of it. I do not believe that being in a regiment, or not being in one will affect anyone's judgement on representing the community. I will come out and say this right now. I am no soothsayer. I am to the point, and hope you do the same. I am kind, generous, and can talk people into or out of a lot of things based on keeping my cool in situations. Yelling and hollering are never the answers to problems we deal with in life. but calm, reserve, pin point accurate action. strike the problem not the person, the nail not the beam.
My fellow Naporiors, If you elected me as one of your representative I would represent the hell out of you. I would talk to you, help you, work with you, and most of all. I would listen to you, and relay it to the top. No one man is to small to be heard, No Regiment too big. If any of you have questions, concerns, or just wish to talk, hit me up 29th_Col_Hugonaut.
