The problem isn't it being too shooting centered, as it's obviously on its own engine. Warband's engine makes the 'shooting' mods horrid because in order for it to be fun you need both an abundance of people and large maps, so that it's more based on maneuvering (you know... tactics); the problem being the player counts are capped somewhat low and the large maps are still small- and it is still incredibly laggy under these circumstances.
If FSE are able to deliver on their 500 player count, and hopefully have large maps that offer plenty of opportunity for movement then I am sure melee will become an afterthought. Honestly, I can't see how people wouldn't prefer it to the spin 2 win "competitive" (lol) melee the engine has stuck us with.
