Looking for a NA regiment with some discipline, historical, and a little on the larger side. If that's too much to ask for than I would rather have a regiment with discipline overall. I would also be happy to play as a flag bearer or musician.

Regimental History
Spoiler
In January, 1861, the regiment was stationed as follows: Headquarters and Companies E and F at Fort Kearny; A, D and I, at Fort Abercrombie; C and K at Fort Ripley; G and H at Fort Riley; and B at Fort Scott. In February, Company B (Captain Lyon) was transferred to St. Louis Arsenal. It was engaged (June 17) in the action fought at Booneville, Mo.

Headquarters and Companies C and K reached Washington from the west in July and were engaged at the battle of Bull Run, July 21, but suffered small loss. These companies were with Major Sykes' regulars, who, "aided by Sherman's Brigade, made a steady and handsome withdrawal, protecting the rear of the routed forces and enabling many to escape by the Stone Bridge." Companies A, D and I, joined regimental headquarters at Georgetown in August.

During July, Companies B and E were in the field in Missouri, and on August 2d were engaged with the enemy at Dry Springs, Mo. In this fight Company E was commanded by 1st Sergeant G. H. McLoughlin, and B by 1st Sergeant Griffin. Captain Steele, 2d Infantry, was in command and makes the following statement in his report:

"About 5 o'clock P. m., Sergeant McLoughlin's line of skirmishers was attacked on the left and front by a large body of cavalry, some 200 or more of whom were on foot and about the same number mounted. Sergeant McLoughlin gallantly repulsed the first attack but was soon overwhelmed with numbers and obliged to retreat upon the reserve, and all fell back into the road, where I came to their support with the other two companies of my battalion." (W. R., Vol. III., page 49.)

One man of E Company was wounded. The rebels were finally routed with heavy loss. In this action B Company was in support of the volunteer troops.

At the battle of Wilson's Creek, where 3700 men attacked 23,000 Confederates after a fatiguing night march, and fought them successfully over six hours, the same companies of the Second played their usual role of brave and unflinching devotion to duty and the cause.

The action commenced at daylight on the 10th August, 1861, General Lyon commanding the Union forces, with the battalion of the Second, a battery, and some volunteers in reserve. Early in this engagement, while General Lyon was leading his horse along the line in rear of Captain Totten's battery and endeavoring to rally our troops, which were at this time in considerable disorder, his horse was killed and he received a wound in the leg and one in the head. The General mounted another horse, and swinging his hat in the air, called to the troops nearest him to follow, but in a short time a fatal ball lodged in his breast and he was carried from the field a corpse. Thus gloriously fell as brave a soldier as ever drew sword, a man whose honesty of purpose was proverbial, a noble patriot, and one who held his life as nothing when his country demanded it of him.

The Union forces were now all but beaten, but just at this time the enemy was observed to be about to renew his efforts, and at once commenced along the entire line the fiercest and most bloody engagement of the day. Not the slightest disposition to give way was manifested at any point. Captain Steele's battalion was some yards in front of the line and in imminent danger of being overwhelmed with superior numbers, the contending lines being almost muzzle to muzzle.

The volunteers rallied, and attacking the enemy's right flank poured in a murderous fire. From this time a perfect rout took place throughout the rebel front, and it was evident that Totten's battery and Steele's little battalion were safe.*

At 11.30 A. M. the Union forces withdrew unmolested to Springfield, about 12 miles distant. In this action the regiment lost Captain Nathaniel Lyon, killed, and 39 killed or wounded of the 98 men present for duty that morning.

In December Companies B and E were sent to Washington where the regiment (except Company H, at Fort Larned, Kansas) was concentrated under the command of Captain A. Sully. It remained there on provost duty until it moved to Fortress Monroe in March, 1862, with Sykes' Brigade of regulars at the opening of the Peninsular Campaign. From the time of its arrival at Fortress Monroe to June 27th, the regiment moved up the Peninsula to the Chickahominy, skirmishing with the enemy and in reserve during the heavier engagements.

The following are extracts from an account of the regiment at Gaines' Mill, written by Major F. E. Lacey who was the first sergeant of Company I in this the first heavy fight of the regiment in the Civil War.

"Bright and early on the morning of the 26th camp was broken, everything packed up, and we moved to Mechanicsville to support McCall's Pennsylvanians who were at that point. Early on the morning of the 27th our line is formed in a sunken road near the old mill which gives the battle its Union name. A grave, a fatal blunder is here made. All the entrenching tools are sent to the rear. We are here between three and four hours before the action commences, ample time to construct works which would have cost the enemy dearly to approach. About 11 o'clock A. M., the Confederate skirmishers come slowly and cautiously into view, followed by artillery. During this time the infantry is taking position in a strip of timber immediately in our front. The first gun is fired by the rebels; a little later a shot from the enemy kills four of our men. A shell from one of our guns blows up a caisson in a Confederate battery just opposite to us. The artillery duel lasts about half an hour. Soon after it ends the enemy's infantry comes out of the woods to attack us. As they are forming line the Second opens fire on them and sends them reeling to the timber. A fresh regiment takes its place and meets the same fate. Two musicians of I Company mere boys go out under a heavy fire and bring in some wounded men. Their names are Robert Nelson and Bartly Scanlan. A body of Confederates now comes out of the timber; the Second springs at them with cold steel and drives them back to the woods.
Here Brinley was killed and Jordan severely wounded shot through the knee two gallant officers, a great loss to the regiment. The intrepid bearer of the National colors,  Sergeant Thomas Madigan of A Company, a veteran of the Mexican War, received a wound from which he died a few days later. The brave old fellow had participated in every battle in which the regiment was engaged in the war with Mexico. The next to take his place, Corporal Konsmiller, a fine young German, was shot through the head and killed.

"We are now in a critical position, fighting in open ground, the foe in the woods. The enemy repeatedly tries to break our line, but fails; the old Second never wavers but stands like an iron wall. The left wing of the corps having been driven back a considerable distance, we fall back and form in an old peach orchard. This position is held until nearly sunset. Resistance now seems to be in vain, our ranks are fearfully thinned, so we fall back in line of battle with colors flying. We soon Come to a bunch of timber and are halted; the left wing does not hear the command and continues its march through the woods. The reason for the halt is explained. A crippled battery is left behind us, the enemy is near at hand, the right wing is asked to save the battery and responds with a hearty cheer, and at the same time dashes to the front led by Lieutenant Parker, 2d Infantry, one of General Sykes' aides. The battery is passed, the wing halts within thirty yards of the advancing enemy, opens fire and brings them to a stand. Lieutenant Drum greatly distinguishes himself. Now the fearless Parker receives a volley: he sways in his saddle and falls from his horse dead. The guns are saved; but at what a cost! We lose more men in this last charge than at any time during the day. The remnant falls back and at dark is united with the left wing and the battle of Gaines' Mill, after eight hours of hard fighting, is ended.

"We kept the enemy in check five hours against overwhelming odds, losing 138 men in killed, wounded and missing. The strength of the battalion going into action was 446 aggregate."

Sergeant Lacey was severely wounded in this fight and became an officer about a month later.

In the change of base to Harrison's Landing the regiment formed a portion of the rear guard and took part in the action at Malvern Hill, suffering no loss. It was in camp at Harrison's Landing until August 14 when it left to join Pope's army in front of Washington, arriving in time to take an important part in the second battle of Bull Run.

The regiment left its camp on the Gainesville road early on the morning of August 30, and moved in the direction of Bull Run Creek, and was formed in line of battle on the left bank of the creek between 8 and 9 o'clock A. M., remaining in that position until about 3.30 P. M., when orders were received to fall back and take position on the right bank of the creek in the timber, near the crest of the ridge. It remained here some fifteen or twenty minutes before the enemy opened his fire, which was intensely severe and continued so for about three-quarters of an hour, when it was ordered to fall back to the timber across the road. Both officers and men conducted themselves, without a single exception, in the coolest and most determined manner, although casualties were very numerous. (W. R., Vol. XI I, Part 2, page 499.)

In this engagement Lieutenant Wm. Kidd was killed and Lieutenants Ellinwood and Markley wounded. 71 men were killed, wounded or missing.

The regiment left camp at Centerville September 2, and marched to Antietam Creek, near the village of Sharpsburg, Md., where it arrived September 15 and went into position, remaining there two days exposed Lo the enemy's artillery and sharpshooters. On the 17th it crossed the creek and went into action in support of Tidball's battery which was hard pressed by the enemy. Lieutenant J. S. Poland, who was in command of the regiment in this fight, makes the following statement in his report:

"Lieutenant McKee, commanding Companies I and A, 2d Infantry, while deploying to the front was severely wounded and compelled to leave the field. The command of these companies devolved upon 1st Sergeant F. E. Lacey, commanding Company I, 2d Infantry, who handled them well. In advancing to the fence at which our line was to rest, the skirmishers were obliged to pass over a ridge completely commanded by the enemy's sharpshooters and battery posted to the left of the cornfield in front of the right of my line. When we appeared above the crest the enemy opened with a heavy fire of case shot and canister. The line did not waver but rapidly moved to the fence. The right advanced beyond, however, before I could convey the order to them to halt at the fence, and by a well directed fire compelled the enemy's cannoneers to leave their guns. Lieutenant McLoughlin and Sergeant Lacey commanded the companies on the right. Sergeant Lacey was soon after wounded and unwillingly compelled to leave the field. Our position was held until all the ammunition had been expended on the left and nearly all on the right."

In a very short time the regiment was relieved by the 17th Michigan and the 1st Battalion of the 14th U. S. Infantry.

The regiment camped on the battle-field, and on the 29th crossed the Potomac at the ford below Shepherdstown, W. Va., in pursuit of the enemy, and moved about a mile beyond the river where they were discovered in force. The regiment skirmished all day, but had no casualties and recrossed the river that night. In this fight 1st Sergeant Daniel W. Burke, of B Company, distinguished himself by returning and spiking a piece of artillery in the face of the enemy's sharpshooters.

The colonel of the regiment, Dixon S. Miles, was mortally wounded by a piece of shell at Harper's Ferry during September and died shortly afterwards. Sidney Burbank succeeded him as colonel of the Second.

The regiment camped at Sharpsburg, obtaining a much needed rest and reequipment, until October 28, when it started for Fredericksburg, Va, arriving there about a month later.

At 2.15 P.m., on the 13th of December, 1862, the regiment left its bivouac near Falmouth and formed under cover of the Phillips house and close to the ponton bridge. It crossed the river shortly after and went into position on the left of the road on the south side of the village.

"At 5 P. M., the battalion was ordered to move to the crest of the hill, 100 yards in advance of its former position, to protect the withdrawal of a battery. During this forward movement the battery was withdrawn and the battalion halted in rear of a ditch, the banks of which afforded good cover."

At 10 P. M., they advanced to within about 80 yards of the stone wall occupied by the enemy.

"On the morning of the 14th the enemy opened a murderous fire, driving in our pickets. The battalion was ordered to lie down behind a slight elevation of ground (about one foot), giving some protection, where it was obliged to remain until dark, under a terrific fire, the plane of which passed not more than a foot over the ground on which they lay."

"To move even was sure to draw the fire of the enemy's sharpshooters, who were posted in the adjacent houses and in tree tops, and whose fire we were unable to return. Thus the troops remained twelve long hours unable to eat, drink or attend to the calls of nature, for so relentless was the enemy that not even a wounded man or our stretcher-carriers were exempted from their fire."

"Never did discipline shine more resplendently, never was the reputation of a regiment more nobly, more incontrovertably confirmed than that of the Second: never could a battalion more signally gain the title of brave and excellent soldiers than on that ever-to-be-remembered Sabbath of December 14, 1862." (W. R., Vol. XXI, pages 426-27.)

The regiment remained in Fredericksburg until the morning of the 16th, when it returned to its old camp near Potomac Creek. Sixteen men were wounded in this battle and three missing.

The regiment spent the winter of 1862-63 in its camp at Falmouth, and no movement of consequence was made until late in April when the Chancellorsville campaign commenced. The following are extracts from an account written by Patrick Breen, who was a corporal in the color guard of the regiment during this battle, and afterwards 1st sergeant of C Company and Ordnance sergeant, U. S. A. He is now retired and living at Vincennes, Ind.

On May 1st, advancing in open country in line of battle, Captain Salem S. Marsh commanding, the regiment halted on the right of the Sixth Infantry in the centre of a field. It was on the right of the entire 5th Corps. Not more than five minutes had elapsed after halting in line before a volley of musketry was poured into our ranks by the unseen enemy, who had been hidden from view by the heavy timber not more than 200 yards in our front. After the first fire was delivered by the enemy we commenced to peg away at the rebels in the timber. In a few minutes the regiment, with the brigade, fell back about 25 yards and opened again on the enemy. The fire of the regiment had a telling effect on the rebels as they could be seen limping off the field every minute. The regiment remained in its new position but a short time when it was discovered that the rebels were moving around our flank. Captain Marsh, ever on the alert, was quick to discover the intentions of the enemy and immediately thwarted the move by changing front to the half-right, at the same time maintaining his position in line with the brigade. Shortly after this a rebel bullet struck him in the forehead, killing him instantly. The command now devolved on Captain S. A. McKee. During the short time that Captain Marsh was in command of the regiment, he endeared himself to the very hearts of his men by his bearing as a soldier and an officer, and his gentlemanly manner at all times, no matter what the occasion.

After we attained the timber to the right of the turnpike and were supported by Hancock's Division, the rebels gradually advanced, very cautiously, and we did not open fire on them until within short range, and then with such effect that they very soon retired from the contest, leaving their dead and badly wounded in our hands. Thus ended the day for the Second Infantry at the battle of Chancellorsville. We laid all the next day behind improvised breast works, rudely thrown up with whatever implements were at hand at the time; even the bayonet was brought into use in this entrenching business. The regiment remained in the entrenchments until the evening of the 3d, and the retreat of the army having commenced that evening in a drenching rain, the morning of the 4th found the 2d Division, 5th Corps, the last troops crossing the river, covering the retreat of the Army of the Potomac, and the 2d Infantry was with it.

Company H from Fort Larned, Kansas, joined the regiment at Benson's Mills, Va., June 13, 1863.

The regiment left Frederick June 29, and made long, rapid and fatiguing marches to the field of Gettysburg, where it arrived about 8 A. M. July 2, and went into position on the right of the 5th Corps. Twenty men of the regiment were thrown forward as skirmishers into a body of woods, beyond which and to the right could be seen the enemy's pickets. After a skirmish of nearly two hours, during which there was considerable firing and some casualties, the line was marched by a flank movement to the left and rear about two miles, where it rested until about 5 o'clock in the afternoon, at which time it moved in the direction of the heavy cannonading on the extreme left of the Union line of battle. As it advanced the rapidity of the firing increased and staff officers rode up rapidly to hurry the command to the front, which was done at a double-time. As soon as the brigade reached the vicinity of Round Top, it formed line to the right, with the 2d Infantry on the right of the line, and advanced at a double-quick down a steep hill and across a marsh fifty yards wide and ankle deep with mire. During this movement the regiment suffered from a severe fire of sharpshooters from the right, left, and front. The marsh being passed, the Second moved rapidly forward and drove a body of the enemy's sharpshooters from a rocky and exposed elevation, pursuing them into the woods beyond. Here it halted and took shelter behind a low stone wall and remained inactive while column after column of Union infantry moved across and perpendicular to its front. After these troops had passed, the regiment was ordered forward beyond the wall with instructions to wheel to the left in a rye field. The wheel was about half completed when the enemy was observed to be moving rapidly to outflank the right, so the Second halted and opened a rapid and continuous fire, which was sharply returned.

Major A. T. Lee, 2d Infantry, commanding the regiment, was wounded at this time, but gallantly retained command until the loss of blood compelled him to retire just at the close of the battle, Captain McKee succeeding him. The enemy continued to grow stronger on the right flank and the regiment was ordered to retire. The word was scarcely given when three lines of the enemy, elevated one above another on a slope to the right, poured in a most destructive fire, almost decimating the regiment and cutting off the color staff, causing the colors to fall into the hands of the color bearer. Under a most withering fire from the sharpshooters on the left and a column of the enemy's infantry on the right and rear, overwhelmed with a perfect storm of shot and shell, the regiment fell back slowly, recrossed the stone wall, the rocky elevation and the marsh in as good order as the formation of the ground would admit, and returned to its original position on the crest of the hill.

On June 30 the returns show 13 officers and 224 men present for duty. The regiment was only engaged from about 5.30 P. M. until about dark, and in this short time lost Lieutenant Goodrich and seven men killed, and Major Lee and Lieutenants McLoughlin, Burke and Lacey, with 53 men, wounded. On the third and last day of Gettysburg the regiment was in reserve, and although held in readiness was not engaged again during the battle.

The regiment left the battle-field July 5, and having taken part in a reconnoissance near Manassas July 23, reached Warrenton on the 29th, having marched 320 miles since the 1st of June.

In August and September the regiment went to New York for the draft riots, and after the return to Virginia in September took part in the Mine Run campaign, but without coming into contact with the enemy.

The end of the year 1863 found the regiment encamped at Catlett's Station, Va. The only event worthy of note which occurred during the next three months was the death of Captain McKee of the regiment, who was killed by guerrillas while riding from one camp to another.

In the reorganization incident to the coming of General Grant in the spring of 1864, the Second was placed in the 1st Brigade, 1st Division, 5th Corps. It set, out from Rappahannock Station for the Wilderness campaign at sunrise on May 1st, and encamped that night at Brandy Station. Crossing the Rapidan at Germannia Ford at noon on the following day, the regiment found itself on the road leading to Mine Run and was ordered forward to attack, driving the enemy some distance back on the pike. It was severely engaged all the afternoon and returned that night to its original position. Early on the morning of the next day it was placed on picket and remained on that duty until two o'clock on the morning of the 8th, when it rejoined the rest of the brigade at Laurel Hill and was engaged there all day.

From this time until the end or the month it was one continuous round of marching, fighting, picket duty, and entrenchment building. On the 1st of May there were 10 officers and 181 men present for duty, and during this campaign the loss out of this small number was five officers wounded and 45 men killed, wounded and missing.

June 1, 1864, the day before the battle of Cold Harbor, the Second Infantry practically ended its career in the Civil War. The commissioned and enlisted strength had reached such a low figure less than 100 men that in accordance with the request of the regimental commander the remaining enlisted men were transferred to C Company, and that company was given a full complement of officers, non-commissioned officers and men. After the battle of Cold Harbor, where this company lost 8 men killed and wounded, and two officers and 19 men captured, it went on duty as provost guard of the 2d Division, 5th Corps.

Regimental headquarters were established at Newport Barracks, Ky., late in June, and immediate steps were taken to recruit the regiment. In December, 1864, its total enlisted strength was 405. At this time Headquarters and Companies A, B, , E, G, I and K, were at Newport Barracks Ky.; C at Elmira, N. Y.; F at Sandusky, Ohio; and H at Trenton, N. J.

The UNITED STATES MARINE CORPS IS RECRUITING!

(https://www.fsegames.eu/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fmichaelhickey101.files.wordpress.com%2F2010%2F12%2Fusmc-ega.jpg&hash=12d1b28f62a6bb0ab80bd33f0d8858748f2f8f0d)

Spoiler
Despite their stellar service in foreign engagements, the Marine Corps playedA little bit of history about the USMC during the civil war- Courtesy of Wikipedia only a minor role during the Civil War (1861–1865); their most important task was blockade duty and other ship-board battles, but were mobilized for a handful of operations as the war progressed.[94][95][96][97]

During the prelude to war, a hastily-created 86-man Marine detachment under Lieutenant Israel Greene was detached to arrest John Brown at Harper's Ferry in 1859, after the abolitionist raided the armory there.[98] Command of the mission was given to then-Colonel Robert E. Lee and his aide, Lieutenant J.E.B. Stuart, both having been on leave in Washington when President James Buchanan ordered Brown arrested.[94] The ninety Marines arrived to the town on 17 October via train, and quickly surrounded John Brown's Fort. Upon his refusal to surrender, the Marines stormed the building with bayonets, battering down the door with hammers and a ladder used as a battering ram. Greene slashed Brown twice and would have killed him had his sword not bent on his last thrust; in his haste he had carried his light dress sword instead of his regulation sword.[99]

At the opening of the war, the Marine Corps had 1892 officers and men, but two majors, half the captains, and two-thirds of the lieutenants resigned to join the Confederacy, as did many prominent Army officers.[94] Though the retention of enlisted men was better, the Confederate States Marine Corps formed its nucleus with some of the best Marines the Corps had.[100] Following the wave of defections, thirteen officers and 336 Marines, mostly recruits, were hastily formed into a battalion and sent to Manassas. At the First Battle of Bull Run (First Manassas), they performed poorly, running away like the rest of the Union forces. Commandant John Harris reported sadly that this was "the first instance in Marine history where any portion of its members turned their backs to the enemy."[94]

Congress only slightly enlarged the Marines due to the priority of the Army; and after filling detachments for the ships of the Navy (which had more than doubled in size by 1862), the Marine Corps was only able to field about one battalion at any given time as a larger force for service ashore.[95] Marines from ship's detachments as well as ad-hoc battalions took part in the landing operations necessary to capture bases for blockade duty. These were mostly successful, but on 8 September 1863, the Marines tried an amphibious landing to capture Fort Sumter in Charlestown harbor and failed, one of the few failed landings of the Marine Corps.[95] Due to a shortage of officers, the Marines of Commander George Preble's naval brigade that fought at the Battle of Honey Hill in 1864 started the battle with First Lieutenant G.G. Stoddard as the battalion commander (normally accorded a lieutenant colonel), the only officer in the battalion (the company commanders and other staff being sergeants).[96]

On 15 May 1862, the Battle of Drewry's Bluff began as a detachment of ships under Commander John Rodgers (including the USS Monitor and USS Galena) steamed up the James River to test the defenses of Richmond as part of the Peninsula Campaign. As the Galena took heavy losses, the unwavering musket and cannon fire of Corporal John F. Mackie would earn him the Medal of Honor on 10 July 1863, the first Marine to be so awarded.[101]

In January 1865, the Marines took part in the Second Battle of Fort Fisher, tasked with acting as marksmen on the flank of the attack to shoot any Confederate troops that appeared on the ramparts of the fort. Even though they were ordered from their firing positions by Admiral Porter's second in command, Porter blamed the Marines for the failure of the naval landing force to take the fort. Despite this, the fort was successfully captured; five Marines earned the Medal of Honor during the battle.[97] In all, Marines received 17 of the 1522 awards during the Civil War. A total of 148 Marines would die in the war, the most casualties up to that point.[65]
Confederate Marines

On the opposite side of the lines, the Congress of the Confederate States authorized the creation of the Confederate States Marine Corps on 16 March 1861.[100] Initially authorized at 45 officers and 944 enlisted men, the CSMC was increased to 1,026 enlisted men on 24 September 1862, but actual manpower never approached that number, maxing below 550 total. Its first and only Commandant, Colonel Lloyd J. Beall, stood the corps up in Richmond, and headquartered it at Fort Darling.[102]

The Confederate Marines, much like its progenitor, played small roles through the Civil War. Much of its service in the war was shipbound, such as the CSS Virginia's famous duel with the USS Monitor at Battle of Hampton Roads. Detachments on land guarded several naval bases, including the defense of the CSMC's headquarters at the Battle of Drewry's Bluff. One of the few notable operations included an assault on a Union prisoner of war camp at Point Lookout. Toward the end of the war, Marines were pressed for the defense of Richmond, such as the Battle of Sayler's Creek.

Grierson's Cavalry Brigade

(https://www.fsegames.eu/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fironbrigader.com%2Fwp-content%2Fuploads%2F2013%2F03%2FCol.-Benjamin-Grierson1.jpg&hash=a3b116d5edc34d0e3712510d11bd7fb612814c12)

Early in 1863, Major General Charles Hamilton, the commander of the Corinth section of Grant's division, suggested what would eventually become Grierson's Raid. Subsequently, due to Hamilton's insistence on procuring a command that would garner him more glory, Hamilton offered his resignation. Grant quickly accepted.[3]
Up until this time in the war, Confederate cavalry commanders such as Nathan Bedford Forrest, John Hunt Morgan, and J.E.B. Stuart had ridden circles around the Union (literally, in Stuart's case; see the Peninsula Campaign), and it was time to out-do the Confederates in cavalry expeditions. The task fell to Col. Benjamin Grierson, a former music teacher who, oddly, hated horses after being kicked in the head by one as a child. Grierson's cavalry brigade consisted of the 6th and 7th Illinois and 2nd Iowa Cavalry regiments

The Famous Grierson's Raid

Grierson and his 1,700 horse troopers rode over six hundred miles through hostile territory (from southern Tennessee, through the state of Mississippi and into Union-held Baton Rouge, Louisiana), over routes no Union soldier had traveled before. They tore up railroads and burned crossties, freed slaves, burned Confederate storehouses, destroyed locomotives and commissary stores, ripped up bridges and trestles, burned buildings, and inflicted ten times the casualties they received, all while detachments of his troops made feints confusing the Confederates as to his actual whereabouts, intent and direction. Total casualties for Grierson's Brigade during the raid were three killed, seven wounded, and nine missing. Five sick and wounded men were left behind along the route, too ill to continue.
Confederate Lt. Gen. John C. Pemberton, commander of the Vicksburg garrison, was short on cavalry and could do nothing to stop Grierson.

Grierson's raiders behind enemy lines(photo take by a Confederate spy).
The premier Confederate cavalry commander, Maj. Gen. Nathan Bedford Forrest, was off chasing another Union raider named Col. Abel Streight in Alabama, and thus had no opportunity to stop Grierson.
While Streight's Raid failed, occupying Forrest probably ensured the success of Grierson's Raid. Although many Confederate cavalry units pursued Grierson vigorously across the state (most notably those led by Wirt Adams and Robert V. Richardson), they were unsuccessful in stopping the raid. Grierson and his exhausted troopers ultimately rode in to Baton Rouge, Louisiana; With an entire division of Pemberton's soldiers tied up defending the vital Vicksburg-Jackson railroad from the evasive Grierson, combined with Maj. Gen. William T. Sherman's feint northeast of Vicksburg (the Battle of Snyder's Bluff), the beleaugered Confederates were unable to muster the forces necessary to oppose Grant's eventual landing on below Vicksburg the east side of the Mississippi at Bruinsburg.

I'm looking to joining up with a regiment, particular one one fighting for the northern cause. I am a civil war reenactor with the 61st New York Infantry (if this regiment exists in the game, I would love to join them.) If any one could point me int he right direction, it would be much appreciated.

Hey, I'm looking for a large NA North and South infantry regiment. I'm not too picky when it comes to Union/Confederacy or State. I have extensive experience with M&B. I am very familiar with the melee and shooting system, and have a good amount of leadership experience. I've been active in the NW community for over a year, and I'm looking at N&S as something to do on my off days as I am still second in command of a regiment in NW. As long as you're fine with this "double-regging" I would love to fight for you on the battlefield whenever I can make myself available. Please, if you are interested PM me with some information on your regiment, like active members, how many events you do and on which days you do them. Thanks

The 33rd Massachusetts is a fairly recent constructed regiment within the North & South community. We play as Line Infantry, but due to the period, skirmisher tactics are mainly used, we expect all members to at least be able to use their weapon in all situations, in melee combat, or at range. Most members are currently involved within our Napoleonic Wars Community, and have been in previous N&S regiments/ communities and so we have a strong knowledge of the mod. Currently the 33rdMA attends a single event on a Saturday, at 9:00 GMT, which can have numbers of 100-200 players. We do not host/ conduct trainings, but we encourage members possibly to test their skills with Napoleonic Wars, where an active player base is placed current. Anything that rather stands out, possibly the friendly atmosphere within the TeamSpeak and events, any questions will be answered, any problems will be sorted, if of course someone speaks up! Member wise, we feed mainly off our Napoleonic Wars regiment, so attendance is around 10-15, which of course, fluctuates each week.

In terms of rules and regulations, we simply ask that you treat every member of the community the same in terms of respect. If someone conflicts with you, ignore, or inform an officer. As we attend a single event, we expect everyone to come along, if for any reason you can't, a simple: 'I can't come tonight sorry.' through Steam will be great, just so I know who and who isn't coming along.

Interested in joining along?

Hi, I'm looking for a North and South regiment that is still active and is a regiment that is a part of the Union. I'm fairly new to regiments since I have not been in one before, but I'm currently in a small clan for NW. I'm also looking for one that is mainly infantry though. I have a fairly good shot, but I struggle in the melee side of things. I don't mind where the regiment is, but I prefer for it to be in NA. See you on the battlefield!

There are plenty active regiments on both sides, if your intrested in an confederate infantry regiment you could contact me. If you want to join an union infantry regiment i would reccomend the 3rdUS.

Here is one of the Sergeants steam: https://steamcommunity.com/id/Kajan/

Good luck!

The 3rd Kentucky Infantry *Recruiting*

The 3rd Kentucky infantry is led by Colonel Musickman who is from Kentucky at age 27 (Really awarded the Honorable Order of the Kentucky Colonels). We are part of the Dixieland Army Community. This regiment was formed August 13th, 2014 and currently has 50 members.

History
The 3rd Kentucky Infantry was organized in July 1861, at Camp Boone in Montgomery County, Tennessee, under the command of Colonel Lloyd Tilghman.By 1864, the regiment's strength was severely depleted. The 3rd Kentucky Infantry was ordered to report to General Nathan Bedford Forrest. Horses were unavailable, so the men followed Forrest on foot. The Kentucky troops that accompanied Forrest were divided into four brigades. The 3rd Kentucky Infantry was in the third brigade with the 7th Kentucky Infantry, and 8th Kentucky Infantry, commanded by Colonel A. P. Thompson. On March 15, 1864 Forrest moved north toward Paducah, Kentucky. Three miles from Paducah they encountered Union pickets and pushed them back to their camp on the outskirts of town. Under fire from a nearby fort, the Kentuckians moved through the streets of Paducah. The fort was discovered to be impenetrable, and a retreat was ordered. Colonel Thompson was killed by cannon fire while leading his troops. Forrest soon returned to Mississippi where the regiment was engaged at the Battle of Brice's Crossroads. At some point in the campaign to Kentucky, the regiment was mounted, becoming the 3rd Kentucky Mounted Infantry. The 3rd was originally part of the Orphan Brigade, we take their flag in game.

Our Motto
"Regarding the leaders of the 3rd Kentucky Infantry Regiment - On Officers: Your 3rd KY officers are dedicated to the "Soldier First" ideology; that their troops are entitled to the very best in professional, tactical, and mature leadership. On NCOs: The 3rd KY maintain their priorities of accomplishment of the mission and the welfare of their Soldiers. We are a professional, organized, active, and international unit. Our schedule is fairly active and we expect participation - however, we realize life comes first! The 3rd KY takes care of its troops through superior performance recognition and promotions for deserving Soldiers. We are a tight knit family and a disciplined fighting unit. Again, welcome and Huzzah!" -Staff Sergeant Buffalo Bob

3rd Marine Battallion

Regimental History

3rd Battalion 3rd Marines, abbreviated as (3/3), is an infantry battalion of the United States Marine Corps, based out of Kāne'ohe, Hawai'i. Known as either "Trinity" or "America's Battalion", the unit falls under the command of the 3rd Marine Regiment of the 3rd Marine Division.[1] The unit consists of approximately 800 U.S. Marines and United States Navy sailors.[nb 1] Like most battalions of the U.S. Marine Corps, 3rd Battalion 3rd Marines is made up of three rifle companies (India, Kilo, and Lima), a Headquarters and Services (H&S) company, and a weapons company. The battalion was originally formed at Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, North Carolina in 1942 and saw action on both Bougainville and Guam during World War II, where it was awarded the first of its Presidential Unit Citations for "gallantry, determination, and esprit de corps in accomplishing its mission under extremely difficult and hazardous conditions"; and the first of its Navy Unit Commendations for "outstanding service". Marines in the battalion were also awarded one Medal of Honor and seven Navy Crosses during the war. Following World War II, 3rd Battalion was disbanded until 1951, when it was reformed in California. The battalion was alerted for possible deployment during the 1956 Suez War and the 1958 intervention in Lebanon. In 1965, the Marines of 3rd Battalion were deployed to the Vietnam War and participated in Operation Starlite, the first major Marine engagement of that conflict. The battalion continued to see major action through Vietnam and was rotated back to the United States in 1969. Alumni from its time in Vietnam include Corporal Robert O'Malley the first Marine in Vietnam to be awarded the Medal of Honor, Oliver North, and John Ripley. Around the end of the Vietnam War, 3rd Battalion was deactivated for a second time in 1974.

In 1975, 3rd Battalion was reformed for the third (and last) time at Marine Corps Base Hawaii. During this period, the battalion conducted numerous deployments in the Pacific and Indian Oceans. In 1983, 3rd Battalion deployed off the coast of Lebanon for several weeks during a particularly tense period in the civil war. During the 1980s, the battalion was briefly commanded by Charles Krulak, later the 31st Commandant of the Marine Corps, who nicknamed 3rd Battalion 3rd Marines "America's Battalion" because it was similar to the nickname used by the Dallas Cowboys. 3rd Battalion deployed again in 1990 as part of Operation Desert Shield and saw action at the Battle of Khafji and again during the liberation of Kuwait. In the early 21st century the battalion deployed overseas six times as part of the Global War on Terror: three times for Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan and three times for Operation Iraqi Freedom in Iraq.[2] One Marine from the battalion, Dakota Meyer, was awarded the Medal of Honor during the Global War on Terror.

 • Everyone has a voice in the regiment, so if you don't like how things are going or want to give your opinion on how to change something just let us know.
 • We play games outside of Warband so we invite you to tag along whenever you can.

Hi there, I'm very new to the game and looking for a regiment participating in Bragg's Friday/Sunday Line Battle events (and similar) regularely, willing to let me join. Ideally, I'd love to tag along this weekend already to find out if my system can cope with big battles. At the moment, I'm still practicing the basics of the game with some success, yet I'm very eager to get into some serious line/formation fighting, being a bit of a ACW enthusiast.

I'm german, but fluent in english, and very flexible on weekends (despite the GMT+1 time zone). Will gladly install Teamspeak, got a mic.

Steam gamertag: steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198104046053 (Currently playing N&S via non steam version though because I had issues to get NW to run under steam). Thank you and cheers!

What can we offer over typical regiments?

No requirements, or training periods.
A single event a week, optional every week.
No restrictions on being in other regiments.
An unexaggerated rank structure, following closer to history.
Free choice of weaponry depending on your strengths.
More independence in events due to our class.
A calmer environment due to our smaller size (10+-).
Active and experienced members from the days before N&S.

And probably a few more...

Hey I'm looking to join a North American regiment of infantry preferably line. What I dislike are regiment with a dorty teamspeak with loads of useless servers groups and alos crappy in game tags. I am looking for something more professional where people aren't mean or imbecile. Thank you.

Alternatively, if someone serious wants to start a regiment on this mod then contact me I could help out

Battery B (Humphrey's), 4th United States Artillery Regiment

Regiment History

B Battery was a light battery throughout the War. It was armed with six 12-pdrs. until May, 1864, when two of the guns were turned in, and it thereafter served as a four-gun battery. It reached Washington in October, 1861, obtained its new armament, and was assigned to M'Dowell's Division the following month. When Pope's army was organized in June, 1862, it was assigned to the 4th (Gibbon's) Brigade of the 1st (King's) Division of the 3d (M'Dowell's) Corps.

When McClellan resumed command of the Army King's Division was assigned to the 1st (Hooker's) Corps. The battery, still with Gibbon, fought gallantly at South Mountain September 14th, and in the battle of Antietam September 17th, when Hooker was directed to turn the left flank of the enemy, B Battery was in the thickest of the fight, and though subjected to a murderous fire at short range dealt desperate and effective blows in return. Lieut. J. B. Campbell wounded, thirty-nine men and thirty-three horses killed and wounded are indicative of the position of the battery in that battle. At Fredericksburg, with Doubleday's Division of the 1st Corps, it crossed the river and was engaged in the battle from the 13th to the 15th of December, 1862, and won the highest encomiums from its corps commander, John F. Reynolds. After the battle it became part of the artillery brigade of its division. It was engaged at Fitzhugh's Crossing April 26, 1863, and was next under fire at Chancellorsville May 4th, 5th and 6th.

After that the artillery of the corps was consolidated and it became part of the artillery brigade of the 1st Corps. It went into action at Gettysburg on the afternoon of July 1st, and was severely engaged, barely escaping capture, and finally fell back to Cemetery Hill. The next day it was hard at work under a very heavy fire, and continuing in position, had the same experience July 3d. Lieuts. James Stewart and James Davison (5th Art, attached) wounded, and thirty-two men and thirty-two horses killed, wounded and missing, one caisson blown up, three broken down, and two guns placed hors de combat are indicative of the positions occupied by "Jock" Stewart's Battery on the field of Gettysburg. The battery was engaged at Funkstown July 11th, at Warrenton July 23d; and at Haymarket October 19th, and Mine Run Nov. 30th it was in position.

The 28th MA is a tight knit community featuring 3 companies of some the hardest working individuals in the Warband community. The 28th is a serious regiment devoted to bringing a fun atmosphere to the game while maintaining a disciplined core of individuals through training and drill. This method of discipline helps bring us together as a single unit allowing us to be more effective in the heat of battle. If you are looking for a serious N&S reg the 28th is the place for you!!

                                                                                                          The History Behind It All

The 28th was raised in Boston and received its initial training at Camp Cameron in Cambridge and Somerville. The unit underwent additional training at Fort Columbus in New York Harbor before being dispatched in early 1862 for its first active duty assignment.

After serving briefly under Gen. Benjamin Butler in the Carolinas and with the 9th Corps during the Confederate Army of Northern Virginia's first campaign into the North, the 28th Massachusetts was assigned to the II Corps as the fourth regiment of the famed Irish Brigade, commanded by Brig. Gen. Thomas Francis Meagher.

Col. Richard Byrnes
Known for their distinctive Tiffany-embroidered green flag and Gaelic war cry, "Faugh a Ballagh" (Clear the Way), the Irishmen of the 28th Massachusetts saw action in most of the Union Army's major eastern theatre engagements – Antietam, Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville, Gettysburg, the Overland Campaign, and the siege of Petersburg – and were present for Gen. Robert E. Lee's surrender to Gen. Ulysses S. Grant at Appomattox Court House.

Upon completion of their original three-year term of service, many of the 28th's veteran soldiers elected to return to Massachusetts. But a sufficient number re-enlisted by January 1, 1864, to justify the continuation of the regiment as a five-company battalion of "veteran volunteers" until the end of the war.

During the Second Battle of Bull Run, Lt. Col. George W. Cartwright was severely wounded, placing Captain Andrew P. Caraher, commander of Company A, in command of the regiment during the Maryland Campaign. Following the Battle of Antietam, however, command of the 28th Massachusetts was given on October 18 to Col. Richard Byrnes, who although himself Irish, had been a regular officer and a 1st lieutenant in the 5th U.S. Cavalry. Although resented and protested by the other officers of the regiment, Byrnes served with distinction and was wounded on June 3, 1864, while leading the Irish Brigade at the Battle of Cold Harbor. He died nine days later.

At Fredericksburg, the regiment was put in the middle of the Irish Brigade and led the charge, as they were the only regiment of the brigade that had the distinctive green flag, and since their commander wanted to make it clear to the confederates that they were facing the Irish Brigade, the 28th was planted in the middle.

Stage actor Lawrence Barrett served as captain of the regiment's Company B, but served for less than a year, resigning in August 1862.
Among all Union regiments, the 28th Massachusetts ranked seventh in total losses. Roughly one-quarter of the 1,746 men who served in the unit were killed, died of wounds or disease, taken prisoner, or reported missing.

The surviving veterans of the regiment marched in Washington, D.C., during the Grand Review of the Armies that celebrated the war's conclusion, then traveled home to Massachusetts, where they were paid and discharged from the service at Readville in June 1865.

The 116th Pennsylvania Infantry

Join us, and fight in the ranks of the heroes of Marye's Heights, the braves of the Wheat Field, and the men from the trenches of Petersburg!

Who Are We?

Spoiler
The 116th Pennsylvania is a new regiment in the North&South community. It was formed on October 13th, 2015, and is now bolstering its ranks with men from the community. We strive to accurately represent the real 116th Pennsylvania, which was a member of the esteemed Irish Brigade. We are accepting to all members, regardless of age and previous experience. Here, we do not care of your past failures and mistakes, and we do not care of your great successes. Here, we judge you from what we see, not what we hear from others. We are not extremely serious, but do require maturity on the battlefield.

History

Spoiler
The 116th Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry, was recruited from among the Irish Americans of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, during the summer of 1862. Dennis Heenan served as its first colonel, St. Clair A. Mulholland as lieutenant colonel, and George H. Bardwell as major. At the end of August 1862, the regiment was ordered to report to Washington, D.C., and was assigned to the Irish Brigade, which was the 2nd Brigade, 1st Division, II Corps, Army of the Potomac. The following month, it was ordered to the Shenandoah Valley, where it saw minor skirmishing. At the Battle of Fredericksburg on December 13, the 116th charged up Marye's Heights. Despite losing many of their officers and men, including Colonel Heenan, they remained at the wall until dark. The regiment had lost so many men that it was consolidated into a battalion of four companies under the command of Mulholland.

The 116th performed well at the Battle of Chancellorsville, where it helped rescue the 5th Maine Battery from capture. In this action, Mulholland earned a Medal of Honor. On the second day of the Battle of Gettysburg, the 1st Division was sent into the Wheatfield to support the III Corps, where the 116th engaged in hand-to-hand combat. Caught in a crossfire, the division was forced to retreat. During Pickett's Charge the following day, the regiment supported the 2nd Connecticut Battery but wasn't needed in the fighting.

During the following few months, the 116th remained in northern Virginia. In the spring of 1864, Mulholland was given permission to recruit the regiment back to full strength. Enough men were raised in Philadelphia to form Companies E, F, and G in addition to bringing the four companies at the front to strength, though many of the veterans were consolidated into A Company. Companies H, I, and K were raised in Pittsburgh. Mulholland was promoted to colonel, while Richard C. Dale became lieutenant colonel and John Teed, who had been captured at Gettysburg, major.

The 116th fought all through the Overland Campaign, where it continued to lose heavily in officers and men. Mulholland was wounded at the Battle of Spotsylvania Court House and Dale was missing in action. Mulholland was wounded again at the Battle of Cold Harbor. Heavy losses continued during the Siege of Petersburg. In July, the Irish Brigade was broken up and the 116th was assigned to the 4th Brigade, 1st Division. After the Appomattox Campaign, the regiment was sent to Alexandria, where, on June 3, companies A, B, C, and D where mustered out. The remaining companies were mustered out on July 14 in Washington.

I'm interested in joining a regiment and I don't really care if Union or Confederate, but NA only. Would open up to EU, but I live in the West coast of the United States so ping and attending would be quite an issue for me. I'm open for Monday-Thursdays only as NW takes up my Friday-Sundays as of this moment. If you're interested in enlisting me contact me on steam and we could talk.

Hey, I'm looking for a NaS regiment. It can't be part of DA and it should start battles before 9 pm GMT (i.e. 8pm or 7pm and so on). What's more, it should play on European servers, as I need a good ping.
If you know such a reg, please pm me. Thanks :)

No longer looking, thanks everyone!

  Regimental History:
The origin of the term came from the "Tiger Rifles," a volunteer company raised in the New Orleans area as part of Major Chatham Roberdeau Wheat's 1st Special Battalion, Louisiana Volunteer Infantry (2nd Louisiana Battalion). A large number of the men were foreign-born, particularly Irish Americans, many from the city's wharves and docks. Many men had previous military experience in local militia units or as filibusters. They (and the regiments that later became known as the Tigers) were organized and trained at Camp Moore.

The famous filibuster Roberdeau Wheat, returning from Italy in the spring of 1861, intended to raise a company of New Orleans troops and then a full regiment for Confederate service. And once he proved his mettle in battle, he’d no doubt gain a brigadier’s star. As such, on April 18, 1861, just a few days after U.S. Fort Sumter was attacked by Confederate forces in an expression of their sovereign rights, the New Orleans Daily Crescent carried the following announcement: "We understand that our friend, Gen. C.R. Wheat, is about to raise a company of volunteers, to serve in the Army of Louisiana. His headquarters are on 64 [Saint] Charles [Street], where we advise all friends of a glorious cause to repair and enlist."

Wheat called his company the "Old Dominion Guards" to commemorate his native state’s (Virginia) recent secession from the United States to join the Southern Confederacy. With the help of Obedia Plummer Miller, a well-established New Orleans attorney, Wheat quickly recruited fifty or so men to his company, mostly expatriate Virginians, men like Henry S. Carey, a relative of Thomas Jefferson’s, Richard Dickinson, who would become Wheat’s adjutant, and Bruce Putnam, a towering man who became Wheat’s intimidating sergeant major.

    24-25 June 1861: " These men were a hard lot, and when they reached the camp at Manassas on freight car was pretty nearly full of men under arrest for disorderly conduct, drunkenness, etc., most of whom were bucked and gagged as some my men reported who were at the station when they arrived. " {Withers, Robert Enoch, Autobiography of an Octogenarian, 1907}

    23 May 1862: " I shall never forget the style in which Wheat's Battalion passed us … Their peculiar Zouave dress, light stripped, baggy pants, bronzed & desperate faces & wild excitement made up a glorious picture. " {Cambell Brown, quoted in Jones, Terry, Wheat's Tigers, Pg. 57}

5th Georgia Volunteer Regiment

Hello there! If perhaps you are looking for a active, large, and old veteran regiment, then I would highly suggest the 5th Georgia Volunteer Regiment. We have been in North and South since NaS 0.4 and we look forward to striving ahead in future updates. We attend events mostly everyday, ranging from different types. Such as Line Battles, Sieges, 1v1s, or even Brigade Fun events. We average around sixteen people per event and are looking to expand. We host two companies within our regiment. Company A "Clinch Rifles, who primary job is to skirmish and conduct sharpshooting fun. However, if you do not like doing such jobs, we also have Company B "Griffin Light Guards". This Company's job is to conduct line operations and interact with melee in events. If you like such sensation, then Co.B is perfect for you.

If you seriously thinking of joining, there is no application nor serious process of becoming a member of the 5th Georgia. If you would to see for yourself or even fully join, then please add myself on steam (General Francis [5thGA]). Until then, I look forward to seeing you on the battlefield!

Battery History
The Cherokee Artillery unit was organized on Aug. 10, 1860 and, in April of 1861, were ordered to join Gen. Phillip's Brigade of Georgia Troops at Big Shanty. On June 13, 1861 they were mustered into state service for the war as Co. A of Stovall's Battalion of Artillery (later known as the 3rd Georgia Battalion).
GeorgiaOn Aug. 10, 1861 they departed for Virginia with three 6 pounder guns furnished by the State of Georgia and one iron rifled gun from the Noble Foundry in Rome, Georgia. During October and November of 1861, The Cherokee Artillery was stationed at Goldsboro, North Carolina, and from November of 1861 until September of 1862, they served in eastern Tennessee guarding against Union and Pro-Union forces. In September and October of 1862 they were involved in the Kentucky Campaign, though not in action. Then, sometime during October or November, of 1862 they returned to eastern Tennessee.
Van Den CorputIn January of 1863, the unit was ordered to Vicksburg, Mississippi where they served as an artillery battery at Warrenton until May of 1863. On May 16, 1863 they fought in the Battle of Champion Hill, Mississippi where all of their guns were captured except the iron Noble gun. On July 4, 1863 the majority of the company surrendered with the Army of Vicksburg. Sgt. Johnson and a section, plus the iron rifled gun, were with Ector's Brigade east of Jackson, Mississippi. In September of 1863, the company was paroled, reorganized, and re-equipped.
In November of 1863 they fought in the Battles of Lookout Mountain and Missionary Ridge. At the Battle of Chattanooga on November 24th, the Cherokee had four 12 pounder Napoleons and was part of Carnes’ Artillery Battalion, Stevenson’s Division of Breckenridge’s Corps. At about 10am, after a dense fog lifted, the Cherokee opened fire throwing 33 shells into Hooker’s assaulting columns on the western slope.
On May 15, 1864 at Resaca, Georgia, the company advanced 80 yards in front of fortifications to a natural depression. Upon unlimbering their cannons, they were immediately overrun by two Union brigades. The Cherokee Artillery fought to save their guns but they were overwhelmed. In the Atlanta Campaign they had no cannons, so their troops were parceled out to reinforce depleted companies. In December of 1864 they served in the Nashville Campaign. On April 12, 1865 the company was captured in the Battle of Salisbury, North Carolina along with the other 1,700 defenders by Stoneman's 16,000 Union troops. They were sent north to a prisoner-of-war camp at Camp Chase, Ohio where they were eventually paroled and sent home by October of 1865.

History

History:
The 2nd Florida was organized on April and July 1861 and mustered into Confederate service for 12 months near Jacksonville, Florida on July 13, 1861 and joined Lee's Army of Northern Virginia in the late summer. They fought at the Battles of Williamsburg, Seven Pines, Gaines Mill, and Malvern Hill in 1862.
In late 1862, the 2nd Florida Infantry Regiment was assigned to E.A. Perry's newly formed Florida Brigade alongside the 5th and 8th Florida. Perry's Brigade served under Anderson’s Division of Longstreet’s First Corps, of the Army of Northern Virginia.

They fought in the Battles of Second Manassas, Sharpsburg, and Antietam from Aug-Sep 1862. Colonel David Lang took command of the Florida Brigade and led them at Fredricksburg in Dec 1862 and Chancellorsville in May 1863. Under Col. Lang's command the Florida Brigade fought at Gettysburg in July 1863. They were attached to Picket's Division, and took part in the famous attack on the Union center on the 3rd day.
After the Battles of the Wilderness and Spotsylvania in 1864, the Brigade was joined by the victors of the Battle of Olustee, the 9th, 10th, and 11th Regiments. General Joseph Finegan, the famous commander of Florida forces at Olustee, took command of the Florida Brigade, then known as “Finegan’s Brigade”.

In the last year of war the Florida Brigade fought at Cold Harbor in June 1864 and Petersburg during the winter. The Florida Brigade retreated with the Army of Northern Virginia and surrendered at Appomattox Courthouse on April 9, 1865. By the time of surrender, the regiments were the size of modern day platoons or companies. The 2nd, 5th, and 8th surrendered 68, 53, and 32 men respectively. The 9th, 10th, and 11th surrendered 124, 162, and 23. Most of the 11th had been cut off in the Army’s retreat and had previously surrendered.

Edward Count Wratislaw, had already been merged into the German Rangers. Companies A, B, C, D, E, F and G were formed of the latter, and H, I and K of Companies A, C and D of the Sigel Rifles. Company B of the latter was merged in Companies H, I and K of the new organization, of which Col. Paul Frank of the Sigel Rifles was appointed Colonel. The companies were recruited in New York City and there mustered in the service of the United States for three years, between August 3 and November 5, 1861. At the expiration of its term of service in August, September and October, 1864, the men entitled thereto were discharged, and the regiment retained in service, but consolidated into six companies, the old Companies E, F, G, H, I and K becoming new Companies A, B, C, D, E and F, respectively, and a new Company G was formed of recruits received in the field.
The regiment left the State November II, 1861; served in French's Brigade, Stunner's Division, Army of the Potomac, from November, 1861; in the same, 3d, Brigade, Richardson's, 1st, Division, 2d Corps, Army of the Potomac, from March 13, 1862; in the 1st Brigade, 1st Division, 2d. Corps, from August, 1862; in the 3d Brigade, 1st Division, 2d Corps, from September, 1862; in the Consolidated Brigade, 1st Division, 2d Corps, from July, 1864; in the 3d Brigade, 1st Division, 2d Corps, from November 2, 1864; and it was honorably discharged and mustered out, commanded by Col. Henry M. Karples, July 1, 1865, at Alexandria, Va.
During its service the regiment lost by death, killed in action, 8 officers, 82 enlisted men; of wounds received in action, 6 officers, 56 enlisted men; of disease and other causes, 199 enlisted men; total, 14 officers, 337 enlisted men; aggregate, 351; of whom I officer, 107 enlisted men, died in the hands of the enemy.

Detailed
The 52nd regiment was organized in the early summer of 1861, shortly after the return of the three-months' troops under the first call of President Lincoln for 300,000 men. It was essentially a German organization, being formed by the consolidation of two skeleton regiments, viz.: the German Rangers and Sigel Rifles, both of which were recruited in New York City.
It was mustered into the United States service on October 25, 1861, with Col. Paul Frank commanding, and 1,000 men, rank and file. The regiment started for the seat of war on November 2d, and went into camp at Bladensburg, Md., near Washington, D. C. After one month's drill, it marched into Virginia and encamped at Fairfax Seminary, near Alexandria, Va., where it was assigned to the Third Brigade (General French), First Division (General Richardson), Second Corps (General Sumner). During winter quarters it underwent continuous drill until March 10, 1862. On March 11th, the division broke camp, and advanced to the line of the Rappahannock, by way of Manassas, after which it countermarched to Alexandria, Va., where it embarked on transports and sailed to Shipping Point, near Yorktown.
At the siege of Yorktown, and at the battle of Williamsburg, the regiment was held in reserve. But in the advance on Richmond, at the battle of Fair Oaks, the regiment lost 125 men killed and wounded. During the Peninsular campaign, the Fifty-second had a large sick list, and lost a number of men of typho-malaria or swamp fever. During the Seven Days' Battles, at Fraser's Farm, White Oak Swamp, and Malvern Hill, the regiment lost 34 men killed and wounded. After encamping awhile at Harrison's Landing, it left for Washington on transports, and marched to join Pope's army, on the campaign at Second Bull Run. The Fifty-second participated in the battles of South Mountain and Antietam, losing 29 killed and wounded in the latter engagement. Returning to Virginia, it was engaged at the battle of Fredericksburg, where it lost 43 men, including the major and adjutant.
At Chancellorsville the regiment suffered severely for the number engaged, entering the battle with less than 200 men, of whom about 40 were killed and wounded.
The corps broke camp about the middle of June, and entered upon the Gettysburg campaign. Our regiment lost about 20 men, disabled from marching and fatigue before reaching the battlefield. On the evening of the second day, the Fifty-second was engaged from 5 to 8 o'clock. It fought on the left of the Third Brigade (Zook's) of the First Division, and lost a great many men in the woods between the Wheatfield and the Peach Orchard. Being forced back, it left many wounded in the Wheatfield. The regiment lost its lieutenant colonel, major, a greater part of its line officers, the color bearer, and about 30 enlisted men. I think almost one-half of its whole number were killed or wounded, as the regiment went into the fight with less than 100 men. Major Venuti was among the killed. On the third day no loss was sustained.
About the end of August we marched to Mitchell's Station, near the Rapidan River, and went into camp. There we received 800 recruits with muskets, drafted men and substitutes, which made the ranks of the Fifty-second look like a new regiment.
On October 2d, we broke camp, and after marching and countermarching to Culpeper and Brandy Station, had a skirmish at Auburn (Coffee Hill) with a part of Gen. J. E. B. Stuart's Cavalry, which had encamped during the night in the midst of our division. After the fight at Bristoe Station, we marched back to Centreville. On this retreat the regiment lost nearly 150 of its new men, mostly taken prisoners. Marching back to the Rappahannock in November, the Fifty-second was engaged at Mine Run, where it lost several men. Recrossing the river, it went into camp at Stevensburg, Va., where it established winter quarters. The winter was passed in drills and reconnoissances.
On May 3, 1864, the regiment crossed the Rapidan, on the Wilderness campaign. In the fighting about Spotsylvania Court House, from May 9th until May 18th, it lost 164 men, killed and wounded. Among the killed were six line officers.
March resumed to North Anna, South Anna, and Totopotomoy Rivers; lost 10 men. Battle of Cold Harbor; loss of many men. Crossed the James River; marched to Petersburg; battle of June 16th, 18th, and 22d; lost a number of men. Flank march to Deep Bottom, in July and August; two battles, in which some casualties occurred. Battle of Reams' Station, where we lost 15 men. Siege of Petersburg; fall and winter campaign and temporary camp on the extreme left of the Army of the Potomac. Part of the regiment was discharged on expiration of term of enlistment, and part of the Seventh New York Volunteers, and Thirty-ninth New York Volunteers were incorporated with the Fifty-second.
March 27, 1865, broke camp and the last campaign began; battle at the White Oak Road, and battle at the South Side Road, with a loss of about 25 men. Pursuit of Lee's army. Battle of Farmville, Va., where we lost 2 men, the last battle in which the Fifty-second participated. Surrender of Lee's army.
Returning to Washington, the regiment encamped near Arlington Heights, Va., and marched in the Grand Review through Washington on May 25, 1865. It remained in camp until July 3d, when it broke camp for Home, Sweet Home. It was mustered out of service July 12, 1865.
The Fifty-second Regiment New York Volunteers served three years, nine months and fifteen days. Of 1,800 enlisted men and officers, whose names are on its roll of honor, it lost over 1,000 men by bullets or disease. A great number were discharged from general hospitals and returned, in all about 250 men, of whom only 10 men were of the original regiment that left New York in November, 1861.
The regiment captured two flags, but never lost one. The Fifty-second is one of the 300 fighting regiments mentioned for great bravery arid gallantry in the book known as " Regimental Losses in the War." It was a purely German organization, and maintained its position on the right of the Third Brigade, First Division, Second Corps of the Army of the Potomac, from first to last.

If you would to see for yourself or even fully join, then please add myself on steam Franics [5thGA] (https://steamcommunity.com/id/DixeFighter/). Until then, I look forward to seeing you on the battlefield!

Hello, I believe that the 19thVA would be a good fit for you and your guys.

We're a relaxed regiment while still keeping a certain level of discipline in the regiment. We are melee-orientated and most of us come from NW.

I'll speak with you on Steam about this more in depth later.

Alright, I'm looking now for an N&S one. Many people asked why I didn't play. I'll just do it.

What I am seeking is a relaxed and fun based regiment. No over the top discipline needed but mature. No basic trolling etc. Also not an all too big one.
Doesn't matter which faction it is.

What I can offer is, I can make threads of good quality, signatures and other forum work. I have 4k hours on Warband, so I'm an experienced player.
I will follow the rules at any time and obey the orders. And I will never surrender.  ;D

If you think you want to have me in your regiment, just hit me up on Steam. - https://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198023910054

Also, it must be an EU regiment. I cannot attend NA linebattles.

  Hi everyone,

I'm searching for a N&S Confederate regiment in NA. I'd prefer the regiment to be mature, but won't be too upset if it's not. However, a small(er) regiment is preferable to one in which I'll be merely a name.

I'm no stranger to either N&S or NW, and can easily find my way within a regiment. However, as I am a student, my commitment to school will take precedence over any commitment to a regiment. Though that does not mean I'm not willing to dedicate time to a regiment.

If you're interested in speaking with me, then feel free to send a message. https://steamcommunity.com/id/LaggyDante

Introduction
The 42nd Virginia is a relatively new unit to North and South, but we also play War of Rights and various other games with the organization of which we are a part. We are looking for mature members, though age is not too important as long as you are willing to listen and be respectful of your peers and officers. Being a new unit, there is a great deal of room for advancement for those who are interested and have what it takes.
Here's a short video including info about our unit!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zz5x40nR1fY

Core Values

In our community, it is important that all feel welcome, and that at the end of the day we all have a good time. With that in mind we have four core values that we adhere to.

Respect: It is the right of every member to be treated with respect no matter the circumstances.

Equality: Under our relatively few regulations, every member from the newest greenhorn to the saltiest veteran officer is considered to have the same rights and freedoms.

Freedom: We believe that our members should be free to do as they wish as long as they do not harm anyone else or infringe on their rights. While we do expect people to keep commitments, we understand that life happens and that it can be easy to get burned out under too much pressure. So have fun and relax with us while you're here.

Diversity: We do not judge people based on their personal lives. Whether you are the straightest, whitest manly-man or you identify as a pan-trans-attack-helicopter-unicorn from Venus named Geraldine, we welcome you so long as you don't hurt anyone.

The Four Rights of Members

Keeping in line with our values, the Four Rights of Members is our guideline for the community and how we should interact with one another.

I.The right of every person to be respected and treated as an equal shall not be infringed.
Basically, don't be a jerk to people or intentionally provoke them. If you do so by accident, apologize.

II. The right of every member to PRIVATELY receive correction (If Needed)shall not be infringed.
We've all been there. Your superior didn't like something you did and chewed you out in front of everyone. That won't happen here. If it is something like being out of line in drill, they'll just let you know to fix it, respectfully. But if you are accused of doing something serious like attacking or harassing someone, you'll be talked to in private.

III. The right of every member to speak what they will (except topics that belittle others) without repercussion by admin shall not be infringed.
We believe in freedom of speech, but we must also ensure that we speak to each other respectfully. It's a balance. I won't say that we are very PC, but going out of your way to say something that is generally considered off sides isn't okay.

IV. The right of FSG to deem any conversation inappropriate and ask the topic to change shall be recognized.
Sometimes conversations can get heated, especially in today's political climate. We have no problem with discussion of touchy or charged subjects, but if someone asks to change the subject, please respect their wishes.

NaS Historical Campaigners

Currently, one of our main projects is Historical Campaigners. HC is a persistent war between two factions (currently the Union and Confederacy) played out over a few months. Imagine old school Battlefront in galactic conquest with line battles. It's a whole lot of fun. I'll put a video from a recent battle at the bottom of this post for your enjoyment.

The 14th Brooklyn has a long and rich history in the community that reloves around M&B/BCoF. It was formed by Colonel Edward Fowler (Diplex) on May 2012, in the M&B:Warband mod
known as "Secession", later transferring to the Napoleonic Wars Civil War mod called "North & South". It has since it's creation in Secession been one of the strongest and most stable Union regiments.
The 14th Brooklyn can offer you a realistic recreation of a Civil War regiment, utilizing the ranks, their respective roles and the realistic commands that were used during combat.

We here at the 14th Brooklyn appreciate your visit, and we hope you enjoy your stay.

Spoiler
The Fourteenth Brooklyn was officially formed July 5, 1847 as Fourteenth Regiment, N.Y.S.M. (New York State Militia) when the New York State
Legislature consolidated the individual militia companies into regiments. At this time, the Fourteenth was a social club composed of men of venerable lineage. The regiment
gathered on weekends and evenings for recreation and to demonstrate their readiness to serve in time of need. The men used the armory in Brooklyn (corner of Henry & Cranberry Streets)
as their headquarters. In 1860, the Fourteenth was impressed by the uniforms of Colonel Ellsworth's Chicago Zouaves. As a result, the Board of Officers decided to adopt their own variation of
the French Chasseur uniform. This distinctive uniform was used throughout the regiment's three-year enlistment in the Civil War (May 1861 - May 1864).
Officially, the regiment was mustered into service by General Irwin McDowell on May 23, 1861.

The Brooklyn Chasseurs, (as they were also known), had a fine courageous fighting record. They served in most of the major campaigns in the eastern theater.
These include: First & Second Bull Run, Antietam Creek, Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville, Gettysburg, Wilderness, and Spottsylvania. At First Bull Run, the Fourteenth
fought bravely. They sustained 142 casualties and were given the nickname "Red Legged Devils" by Stonewall Jackson. Shortly after this battle, the New York State
attempted to redesignate the regiment as the 84th New York Volunteers. The men vigorously protested and solicited the aid of General McDowell. It was at this time
that the regiment received its motto, when General McDowell proclaimed: "You were mustered by me into the service of the United States as part of the militia of
the State of New York known as the Fourteenth. You have been Baptized by Fire under that number and as such you shall be recognized by the United States government
and by no other number!
". At second Bull Run, the men again fought valiantly, sustaining 120 casualties. Two weeks later, the regiment would again fight with distinction
by their conspicuous bravery through the cornfield of Antietam Creek. At South Mountain and Antietam, the regiment sustained 55 casualties. Colonel Rufus R. Dawes of the
Iron Brigade's Sixth Wisconsin Volunteers would later write in his book "Service with the Sixth Wisconsin Volunteers" (published in 1890): "The Fourteenth Brooklyn
Regiment, red legged zouaves, came into our line closing the awful gaps. Now is the pinch. Men and officers of New York and Wisconsin are fused into a common mass, in the
frantic struggle to shoot fast. Everybody tears cartridges, loads, passes guns, or shoots.
"

At Fredericksburg and Chancerllorsville, the regiment saw little action having been primarily kept in reserve. However, during the Chancerllorsvile campaign, the Fourteenth
saw a short and deadly action at Fitz Hughs's Crossings. Again, the Fourteenth and the Sixth Wisconsin worked together. Both Regiments were demonstrating while
Hooker's army was moving to the right flank at Chancellorsville. On the Riverbank, the Fourteenth was covering the Sixth as they attempted to cross Fitz Hugh's Crossing
in boats. The Fourteenth's combined casualties for both Fredericksburg and Fitz Hugh's Crossing amounted to 28. During July 1-3, 1863, at the pivotal battle of Gettysburg, the
regiment was to play a vital role in delaying the rebel advance on the first day. The Fourteenth was part of Cutler's Brigade, which was the first infantry brigade to relieve
Brigadier General John Buford's cavalry and engage the Confederates. This delaying action (defense in depth), allowed the Army of the Potomac to concentrate at the "fishhook"
(the position from Culp's Hill and Cemetery Hill, along Cemetery Ridge, and ending at Little Round Top). Again, the Fourteenth and Sixth Wisconsin were to fight together. As the
Confederates under Davis' Brigade (42nd Mississippi, 2nd Mississippi, 55th North Carolina) began to flank the federal position to the north, simultaneously two things happened.
First, Colonel Fowler of the Fourteenth Brooklyn (also commanding the 95th New York Volunteers-Fowlers Demi-brigade) ordered a complex maneuver that resulted in the
Fourteenth Brooklyn (on the left) and the 95th NYV (on the right) forming a battle line facing the rebel threat to the north of the railroad cut. Second and simultaneously, Colonel
Rufus Dawes of the Sixth Wisconsin received orders from General Doubleday to "move your regiment at once to the right" (that is, to the north towards the railroad cut).
Upon seeing the enemy just north of the railroad cut, Colonel Dawes directed his troops to wheel right "by company into line on the company". Davis' Brigade took a blast
head-on from all three union regiments, then made a mad dash for the cover of the railroad cut. At this moment, Fowler's Demi-Brigade (Fourteenth and 95th NYV) came up
on the left, while the Sixth Wisconsin came up on the right. All three regiments (1000 Federals) were now in line of battle facing Davis' Brigade (1700 Confederates), which
were down in the railroad cut. All three regiments vigorously charged and attacked the rebels in the railroad cut. According to one Fourteenth Brooklyn officer, the rebels
"fought with the ferocity of wildcats". A fierce hand to hand fight ensued, with bayonets and clubbed muskets, as the Confederates defended their colors and cannon they
had previously captured. The vengeful Federals loomed above them, firing down into the railroad cut at point blank range. The Confederates were trapped. The shoot-out was
vicious, with no quarter given. Wounded and dead rebels sank to the railroad bed. The fighting was so brutal, it could not last long. The rebels soon realized that their position
was hopeless. They threw down their arms in droves, yielded up their battle flags, and passed through the ranks to the rear as prisoners. Approximately, 350 Confederates from
Davis's Brigade had surrendered in addition, it is estimated that 350 Confederate officers and men were killed or wounded. The rest escaped. The Fourteenth also had the honor
of carrying the body of Major General John Reynolds back to Seminary Ridge after he was shot by a Confederate sharpshooter. This scene is hinted at in Ted Turner's movie
Gettysburg, where you can see some of the re-enactors of the Fourteenth Brooklyn. On the second and third day of battle (July 2-3, 1863), the men fought on Culp's Hill.
The Fourteenth is one of the few regiments to fight all three days at Gettysburg. Furthermore, it is the only regiment to have three monuments erected and dedicated in
their honor at the National Battlefield Park. The Fourteenth sustained 217 casualties (67%) over these three bloody days.

The men continued to fight over the next year, culminating with the battles of the Wilderness and Spottsylvania (126 casualties.) After completing their three year
enlistment, the Fourteenth Brooklyn was mustered out of service. They arrived home, in Brooklyn, to the cheers of crowds at Fulton Ferry on May 25th 1864.

The DA is still hosting events with decent sized numbers, but yes, most regiments in this thread are dead.

However there are many in the community that are still going strong.

I myself am looking at recreating a regiment, so if anyone is interested in starting from scratch, hit me up on steam!

6th Wisconsin is a regiment that is built on friendship, loyalty and respect for everyone's endavor. we all share a love the union, that the rebels cant understand.

History:The 6th Wisconsin was raised at Madison, Wisconsin, and mustered into Federal service July 16, 1861, for a term of three years. It saw severe fighting in the 1862 Northern Virginia Campaign, fighting at Brawner's Farm during the early part of the Second Battle of Bull Run. During the subsequent Maryland Campaign, the 6th attacked Turner's Gap in the Battle of South Mountain, and then suffered considerable casualties battling Hood's Texas Brigade in the D.R. Miller cornfield at Antietam.
During the first day of the Battle of Gettysburg on July 1, 1863, Lt. Col. Rufus R. Dawes led a counterattack on Joseph R. Davis's Confederate brigade of Mississippians, many of which were sheltered in an unfinished railroad cut west of town. The 6th forced the surrender of over 200 enemy soldiers. The regiment later served that year in the Bristoe and Mine Run Campaigns.
The regiment participated in the Grand Review of the Armies on May 23, 1865, and then mustered out at Louisville, Kentucky, on July 2, 1865.

Reasons on fighting the Rebels

- Preserve the Union

- Stand up and Fight for Uncle Sam!

- Lincoln Deserves A Victory!

The 30th Cambridgeshire Regiment of Foot

Regimental Information
Spoiler
The regiment spent most of the French Revolutionary Wars (1792-1802) back in the Mediterranean. It fought at Toulon (1793), on Corsica (1794) and Minorca (1798), before moving to Italy and Malta in 1799.The 30th then joined the British force in Egypt in 1801. It returned to Britain in 1802 and a year later formed a 2nd Battalion. This served in the Peninsular War (1808-14) from 1809, fighting at Fuentes de Onoro (1811) Badajoz (1812) and Salamanca (1812), where it captured a French eagle. It had suffered such losses by December 1812 that its six weakest companies had to return to Britain to recruit, while the four strongest ones merged with a battalion of the 44th Regiment of Foot to form the 4th Provisional Battalion. This dissolved in 1813 and the four companies from 2nd Battalion re-joined the six newly-recruited companies in Jersey later that year. 2nd Battalion moved to Holland in 1814 and fought at Waterloo (1815), at one point forming square and resisting 11 French charges. In 1817 the battalion was disbanded. In the meantime, 1st Battalion sent five companies to fight in Hanover and northern Germany in 1805, before regrouping the following year to travel to India. It stayed there for over 20 years, sending detachments to Java and Portuguese Macao in 1807-08. It also foughtin the Third Maratha War (1817-19). For the next 35 years it alternated between overseas postings, including Bermuda, Nova Scotia and the Ionian Islands, and time in Britain and Ireland. The regiment deployed to the Crimean War (1854-56), serving at the Alma (1854), Inkerman (1854) and Sevastopol (1855). *Thank you to the National Army Museum website for this information

-Be Mature, for example when we are getting shit on I don't want people yelling and screaming, that really slows down my thought process and what would  have been a retreat order will be me telling you guys to shutup and by then we are probably all dead. Respect the officers and respect PTS
-Here in the 30th we expect a moderate silence among the rankers while someone is leading. If you have something important to say please use PTS (Permission To Speak).
-Respect everybody in the community, I do not care if they started just it  don't make it a bigger deal than it already is.
-When joining this regiment I expect for you to be here for 1 event a week. If you won't be able to come for awhile make sure to notify an officer.
-If you have a noisy background, please for the love of all that is holy and pure USE PUSH TO TALK.
