Title: ♦ 17th Regiment of Foot ♦ *2 Year Anniversary!* [EU] [Server Hosting available]

Regimental History:
From 1688 to 1751 the regiment was known by the name of its various colonels. The regiment saw service in the Flanders from 1694 to 1697, before moving to Ireland. In 1701 the regiment moved to the continent of Europe, and took part in the War of the Spanish Succession. In 1709 the unit returned to England, moving to Minorca in 1725.
In 1751 a royal warrant assigned numbers to the regiments of the line, and the unit became the 17th Regiment of Foot. It saw service during the French and Indian War at Louisbourg in 1758, Ticonderoga in 1759, and in Caribbean engagements in 1761 and 1762. Following that war it also saw duty during Pontiac's Rebellion before eventually returning to England in 1767. The 17th were again in service during the American War of Independence, landing in Boston on New Year's Day 1776. The regiment's performance at the Battle of Princeton was commemorated in the addition of an unbroken laurel wreath to its insignia. Several companies were captured at the Battle of Stony Point by a daring night-time bayonet charge by "Mad" Anthony Wayne. The regiment moved to Nova Scotia before returning to England in 1786.
A royal warrant dated 31 August 1782 bestowed county titles on all regiments of foot that did not already have a special designation "to cultivate a connection with the County which might at all times be useful towards recruiting". The regiment became the 17th (Leicestershire) Regiment of Foot.
The regiment was increased to two battalions in 1799 and both battalions served in the Netherlands before the second was disbanded in 1802. In 1804 the 17th moved to India, and remained there until 1823. In 1825 the regiment was granted the badge of a "royal tiger" to recall their long service in the sub-continent.

The table seems to be bugged, it constantly adds that annoying bit of code at the end, despite it all being correct (as far as I can tell). Ah well, it works just fine.

Yeah the first map sucked a little bit for us as cav, but we still got some decent charges in there.
Also, I've been talking with the 84e, and we thought it might be cool to do some kind of joint event with them, maybe us two against them and another reg or similar. What do you think?

Haha, well, we are only just beginning to figure out how to best play as cavalry, as we're still very new to it. We need to rethink some of our commands I think, but overall I'm happy with our progress  ;D
Just got to brush up our skirmisher abilities before we can field a fully functioning (miniature) army.

I do feel like that aswell...still remembering the good times where we were attending MM events and had a lot of fun together. Remember the glorious 51st for example..incredible how great these times were back then. Do you guys have any plans for Bannerlords already?

I'm sure some of us will play both, but neither will be our focus as a community I think. We may just play alongside other regiments as invites, but who knows, both are a long way off and a lot can change.

Thank you however as the 17th's leader I have to inform you the 17th has retired from linebattling and Napoleonic wars for now.

As well, due to our split with the Alera community and the 17th moving on and becoming part of Aesir gaming (TS ip: 78.47.64.248), the server hosting is no longer available. The 17th steam group is considered redundant and is currently owned by the 17th's former leader Jammy, who still refuses to hand it over to the actual 17th leadership.

We intent to one day return to whatever NW-like game there is an revive the 17th in it's full glory, but untill then, we shall be focussing on the release of Bannerlord.

Just to clarify, the 17th is inactive in terms of linebattles and events until either BCoF or Bannerlord, but the title is still in use by our members, some of whom still play NW.
The 17th remains a part of Alera Gaming, the community which grew from expansions to the 17th in other games. Our teamspeak host name remains aleragaming.com

We wish Aesir gaming all the best, but kindly request that they don't pull a Ted Cruz on us. We are still very much alive with a healthy (and growing) community.
