Welcome to The Skin Warehouse. In here you will find a recopilation of all of my currently published skins for Mount and Blade: Napoleonic Wars, as well as some concept art related to the regiments portrayed in my mods. There is also a small section of custom made dividers for clans to use, which aren't necessarily related to skins, but were made by request.
Currently, due to my tight schedules, all requests for skins and concept art are closed. Apologies for the inconvenience.

79th's already in the to do list.
And interesting fact: 79th Highlanders are featured in Sharpe's Sword. Ergo chances are I'll be releasing it together with a South Essex skin as a Sharpe themed pack.

lol sorry for the large officer image.
That first uniform is pretty late Victorian. I don't know exactly when it came in but I assume it was sometime after the mid 1860's. The second image is, as the link states, George Paget, who was Lt. Colonel of the Regiment in the 1850s whilst they were still Light Dragoons, hence the wildly different uniforms.

Well for one thing they aren't images during the Napoleonic Wars. Second of all they're sub standard images.

Start putting these reskins into one massive spoiler. It's really annoying how large these posts are.

Great job, as always! Do you mind if I ask how progress is coming along with the KGL Light Infantry skin?

They're like that for a reason, man.
Great job, as always! Do you mind if I ask how progress is coming along with the KGL Light Infantry skin?
Nothing more than research, I'm afraid. I've been busy with 29th, 43rd and 28th these last few days.
-
Very nice reskin! I have a request... I'd like to see you make the 79th Cameron Higlanders. The following link contains pictures for each company, and their uniforms, including the Officer Staff (Etat-Major)
http://centjours.mont-saint-jean.com/uniformes_uniteBR.php?uniformes=31&nation=1
79th's already in the to do list.
And interesting fact: 79th Highlanders are featured in Sharpe's Sword. Ergo chances are I'll be releasing it together with a South Essex skin as a Sharpe themed pack.
Now that would be extremely extremely cool! :D
-
Wait a tick, you made an officer of the 43rd and didn't give them their signature pelisse? that was the best (or most ridiculous) part of their uniform.
Behold!

Actually, I'll see if I can patch up the 43rd on Sunday. As of right now I'm working on 29th, which so far it's the biggest skin project I've ever done, and chances are it'll be the heaviest one of all skin packs I release.
Note the Centre Cy. Colonel:

When you start working on the French, I'll eagerly download anything that replaces the 45e with much better looking French line from the era.
Amazing stuff by the way.

Yea, and for a 45e skin replacement i would like to request a simple one "Pupilles de la Garde" there is a skin that replaces 45e(or at least pretty sure it does just diff hats for them) for it but its glitchy cause it isn't really compatible with this update we currently are on its still on the old old update.

Hey! The 3de Nederlandse Fusileren, are requesting a skin. We are a small Dutch regiment, and I'm hoping that this skin will get more people to join. I will tap into some pictures for you; This is very important.
For the Ranker
http://www.napoleon-series.org/images/military/organization/Dutch/Suhr/SuhrDutch98b.jpg
Ok some Info:
For the Officer use the one with the 2 on his hat in this pic
http://www.napoleon-series.org/images/military/organization/Dutch/Suhr/SuhrDutch101b.jpg
Except take the 2 off his hat, and make the facings the color of the ranker facings;
The flag carrier and musicians don't matter.
Could you make the skin to replace the first unit on the list In the Austria faction.
Let me know if you need more info,
~Dutch

Special thanks to:Hasan -1° Reggimento Bersaglieri- He helped me out keeping me awake at 5am to finish this
James Grant -3rd Regiment of Foot guards - He provided his glorious all knowing book of British uniforms
Guardsman Masters - 29th Regiment - Aided me with special details not mentioned in James' book
Nytech - Helping me with coding parts for next release of this skin
BetaKnight - Moral support and tips on how to do stuff
Attila The Nun - Moral support and aiding me with modelling
29th Regiment of Foot - Testing the earlier versions of this skin and moral support
82nd Regiment of Foot - Ibíd
Blankman - Moral support
This project in particular was the single biggest one I've worked on so far. Making this skin took me over two months (Released first version for 29th only on early January 2013), and to be honest, this skin and 47th's were the toughest ones to make since my arrival in the NW modding community.
I hope you like this. Far too many people were involved in the making, and many put their effort into making this skin looks as it does now. Many thanks to those who gave me a hand, be it with testing, actual development or simply downloading the earlier versions for fun.
Now, I have a small request to ask. If anyone knows how to make the 33rd officer carry a different hat (via coding), or how to make the 5th KGL speak English, please, PM me. I really want to move up a notch with these skins, and soon I'll be doing full replacements (all regiments within a nation).
Fully patched for the latest NW update. If you encounter any bugs (besides some odd animations), tell me.
-
That's bloody brilliant Koch. I really like the colour sergeant in particular.

how do you make a rank insignia go on one arm?

My apologies. There were a few bugs involving LODs and bicorne testing stuff on the 29th skins. Fixed now.
Also updated 43rd Monmouthshire. Now officers have a red pellise.

That's more like it! nice work.

Wow, these skins are awesome... And, you pump out new skins quite fast. So, I have a request. I'd like to see you make French Marines of the Guard to replace the French Marines in the new patch. Obviously, you can't release it until then, but it's just something I would like to see. There are two variations of the Marines of the Guard, and I will post both in their spoilers. Also, I'd also like the pack to replace the sapper and artillery.

Um... boys. BetaKnight already made a very nice French Marins de la Garde skin for NW, and Attila is currently working on Brunswickers.
Sorry, but I wont take those two requests. Other people are already doing it, and chances are they'll do it better than I'll ever be able to.

I have to agree. UK uniforms are very similar all across the board. There might be a small cuff/collar change and that is it. It's not as interesting as the Russians/French with their flamboyant colors :)
-
That's the main reason why I try to keep my skins original and good looking, while keeping the uniformity of the British Army. Facing colour and lace patterns don't tend to deviate too much between designs. That's why I made 29th with the white-ish ranker pants, 43rd with pellise and 82nd with fancy colours.
Next time I hope I can add that bicorne. I really, really want to put that for 33rd officer.
Also, I'll be taking a break from texturing. With university taking most of my time these days, I only have weekends to relax and work on them. Not this one, though, since I'll be participating in a reenactment...
Sorry, chaps. There won't be updates as often as before.
Patience. I'll get to work whenever I can.

Maybe some Austrian or Prussian skins next?

I was thinking on changing nations for the next release. However, the problem here lies on lack of models. As of right now, I want to make the "Batallón de Voluntarios Urbanos Cántabros Montañeses de Buenos Ayres" (Spanish militia unit), but Im seriously needing a bearskin hat model to work with. However, the Austrian bearskin isn't useful here, and Attila's Spanish Waloon Guard's hat has a different shape.

29th Worcestershire skins got updated.
Changes:
*Fixed a bug that made Prussian Rhine and Brandenburg Regiment's Officers have invisible pants.
*Fixed a bug that made some of the British pants be standard grey instead of white.
I MAY have broken something that I didn't notice. Please, if you find any bugs, tell me, for this patch in particular didn't receive lots of pre-release testing.

The 75th is an odd choice, considering they saw precisely no action in the Napoleonic Wars.

You have to dig deep, but there are some images of them, and the uniforms photo does show the tartan. I'll try help find more pics.
In regards to history: whilst their tales on the European side are lacking (non existent) their campaign in India was indeed very interesting, if slightly short-lived. They are also famous as 1st battalion Gordon Hoghlanders, although this of course is a different era.

Tartan; (Campbell of Breadalbane)
According to what I found, the 75th (and 92nd) used to use the same tartan as the black watch, before 1778, after which they added a yellow stripe to it.
Spoiler
(https://www.fsegames.eu/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.scotland.com%2Ftartans%2Fc%2Fimages%2Fcampbread3.gif&hash=0adcdc4fbdc8795007a0bd5d99b7d37b5ed1eacc)
However if you search that tartan name, you will find plenty of the tartan colours if this is not the style required.
-
You are aware only one of those images is from even close to the right period?
The 75th didn't wear the same tartan as the 92nd, and probably not the same as the 42nd (the extent to which they had a red overstripe on theirs is debated). The 75th wore standard Government sett with no differentiation, whereas the 92nd had a yellow overstripe and the 42nd a red one.
Your image is wrong. No Napoleonic Highlander regiments wore tartan with two yellow overstripes.
-
"The Gordon Highlanders (75th & 92nd Foot), wore the Black Watch tartan prior to 1778 after which a yellow line was added."
Source: http://www.tartansauthority.com/tartan/the-growth-of-tartan/military-tartans/regimental-tartans/
about half way down, just search "75th" on the page.
That's what I read, I don't know it's accuracy.
If u have any images of the 75th that would be helpful too, I'm trying to get together what I can, from multiple sources, it is hard to confirm dates on all of them.
-
It says the Gordon Highlanders wore the yellow overstripe, which is correct. The reason it says 75th is because the Gordons were created by an amalgamation of the 75th and 92nd.
No idea why it says 1778, as neither regiment existed at the time.
The C.E. Franklin image Jimmy Grant posted should be more than enough to make a texture, anyway.
The colours would presumably have been the same as any other yellow faced regiment.
-
Now this right here struck me weird:
(https://www.fsegames.eu/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.alamy.com%2Fthumbs%2F6%2F%257B5707265B-BC38-4294-9D73-C868615266D5%257D%2FBFJN9N.jpg&hash=51d9c46b4f455602c29eaff188c96a9765b70a95)
Take note of the shako plate...
-
Wtf? Is that shako plate a dragon?
-
No idea why it says 1778, as neither regiment existed at the time.
Fair Enough
However I have still found many Images with the yellow stripe, but idk

And regarding the shako badge, I found out it's related to the Mysore war, now beyond that, I have no idea on what it is, nor which ranks had it (officers only or all ranks?).
I say, can anyone send in a few sources via books and text websites?

Personally I think a Portuguese faction would be cool. I always liked Portuguese style uniforms, especially that of the LLL.
Very hard to do, though.
-
Well, the Ostrich people could be replaced by the Portugee', though it would take time to convert all units to Portu regiments.
Can be done, though, but I'll need voice actors and someone who can make the coding portions...
That and figure out what Portu regiment used rifles.
-
Well Grenzers would best suit the Legion given that I think it was 2 in 10 men used rifles.
And in the Cazadore regiments there was 1 company armed with rifle And these fellows were called atiradores. I can get you a decent amount of uniform information this evening.

I've only seen Canadians wear the greatcoats in battle, but never the British army in Europe.
Could be done, though.

Retreat to Corunna, so many greatcoats! I can't think of any major engagements in which they wore their greatcoats but they did use them frequently.
-
Most probably they had them on for camp duties and such, but left them in their tents during battle. would make sense to have them on during a skirmish, though.

Actually, I am making -very- slow progress on my 79th skins at the moment. I have little time, so I can only finish a single class type every 1-2 days.
Right now I have the ranker's and officer's coats done, but there's still lots of work to be done, specially with the tartan parts.

By 1812, all British infantry would have been in trousers. Usually blue or dark grey for units serving in Canada, sometimes white.
-
Not according to reenactors, though...
-
Any reenactor that doesn't think the 1810 general order to replace the breeches with trousers obviously hasn't done a great deal of research.
-
Well, Idk man. I based my skins on the Fort George 41st Foot reenactors, and they always wear the white pants with black gaiters.
Take a look at these gentlemen:
-
Orders to change equipment took some time...
I know this is the British army but to supply the troops in Canada while dealing with armies in the Peninsula too would have been quite straining. Already in the Peninsula soldiers had different colors of pants and that was Britains primary front.
-

Most British infantry had already replaced the breeches with white trousers when serving abroad by 1808. The orders to officially replace the breeches with blue-grey trousers would have reached Canada by 1811, so by the start of the war in July, 1812, any remained breeches would have been worn out and replaced---when you only have one pair of leggings they don't last very long at all, certainly not a year. That's why British troops serving more than a year in the Peninsula almost invariably wound up in brown, locally-made trousers (or even coats, in some cases).
I can't see your video presently as all Google pages, including YouTube, are currently down. When you start using reenactors as reference you risk making huge mistakes, though, as some are accurate, whereas others just don't really care. I'd say the majority fall into the latter category.

Well, I put the white pants because I've rarely seen 41st wearing the grey ones. Reenactors in Canada, New South Wales and Cardiff always wore the white with black gaiters.
However, and this does strike me as weird, the white pants were issued only on summer time or in hot weather regions. And we're talking about Canada here.
-
Even the main 41st reenactment group (http://www.fortyfirst.org/) exclusively wear trousers, specifically the white linen ones approved for use abroad in 1807. Which, although somewhat questionably, is not entirely inaccurate, as some regiment reports show that the linen trousers were still being used to some extent during the War of 1812. Most troops were in the blue-grey wool ones, though.
However, and this does strike me as weird, the white pants were issued only on summer time or in hot weather regions. And we're talking about Canada here.
They also issued white tropical shakoes to units in Canada. Horse Guards wasn't known for its greatly logical decisions.

I'm all for Canadian pride and what not, but the 41st were Welsh.
-
The 41st became the Welch regiment in 1831, but before that, they had no official region attached.
And something tells me that unit was full of Canadian soldiers by the outbreak of the War of 1812.
-
The 41st didn't recruit in Canada, but rather received regular reinforcements from Britain (primarily Wales, which is why they later received the 'Welch' designation, even if the depot was in Winchester). Most of the men that fought with the 41st in the War of 1812 arrived in the 1809 and 1813 shipments.
-
Odd.. How come they didn't recruit Canadians? They don't seem to be bad fellows, and were used to the harsh climate... That, and there were lots of them around...
-
Most Canadians had fairly important jobs, such as farming, trapping and trading, and it could be detrimental to remove these men from the usually very small communities most Canadians lived in. There was also the problem of when the regiment invariably departed Canada---most Canadians would probably be unwilling to leave the country to serve abroad. The British also didn't like the idea of foreigners being stationed in Britain and typically avoided it.
-
Just my 2 cents, our studies into units stationed in NSW state that NSW corps/102nd where stil wearing white breeches/gaiters in 1809, and the 73rd where wearing them when they arrived in 1810-1813
-
Do you do requests?

He does.

Oh were they? Ahh I see. Maybe Kochi should make some Canadian Militia then? It would be cool.

When you've done 79th could you try 73rd? Never seen them done and since they weren't in highland uniform it could be interesting.
-
I can help with the 73rd, i reenact them :)
-
FLAGS :o
Yeah where'd he get flags from?
-
Could someone tell me where he's getting those template uniforms from because they look like they're from mont-saint-jean.com but that's only for the 100 days campaign. I've always been looking for a peninsular website as i've already found a war of 1812 site...
-
Um... I make them myself? If I can make a bloody skin pack, I can easily put together those uniforms :P
And regarding the flag... Well, my good lad, there is something called "paint.net". The flags are just pasted and edited in there ;D
-
Ok sorry :P But thanks. I just really wish there was something like that. A big data base of peninsula war uniforms.... :D
-
For British uniforms for each regiment and how they changed through the era, there's CE Franklin's work rather simply titled 'British Napoleonic Uniforms' (which I believe Kochi uses as a source, kindly provided by James Grant) but that of course, is only British. So you won't find any French, Portugese or Spanish troops in there. There aren't even any of the foreign regiments that fought alongside the British army
-

Well I'd say that if CE Franklins work has any flaw it's that it has too much and has the uniform information of each regiment on one page with some regiments getting just about everything shown whilst others seem to be supplemented by 1793 plates when other resources seem to dwindle. It's an excellent book but in my opinion suffers from the shear amount it has.
But I'm sure Docm has much more scything reasons.
-
Well, my sources come from many different places, not just CE Franklin's book. Mont St. Jean aside, Williams/Guardsman Masters/Wellington/etc. has been helping me getting pictures and other resources from his reenactor buddies.
I also check reenacting websites, ask other friends who know about this (like Simon Moore (http://simonlmoore.deviantart.com/)) and use simple common sense.
And the simple "image democracy". If 7-8 out of 10 pics shows XXth regiment wearing white linen pants, while the others show the lads in blue-gray/gray wool trousers (of course, set in the same war theatre/campaign/time period), I'll give that skin white pants.
-
"Image democracy" may not always be the best policy. For example, 99% of modern images will show the post-1812 95th rifles in the 1806 shako, which is unquestionably wrong.

That's when Williams comes in. Most of the times he sends me the pictures.

I think the most reasonable thing to do is to look at multiple sources and then draw your own conclusion of how they looked, when uniform changes came around, did they follow the instructions to change their uniforms. Furthermore, make it look nice is probably the most important thing since the vast majority of people won't know when or even if a certain uniform changed buttons or breeches but they will notice if the skin isn't looking good.

LOL HAHAHA!
Tried doing that the first time and I got haunted by duuring.
-
Koach, please try merge some of your skins together ;) 43rd,79th,29th,28th etc.
Would be nice.
-
That would actually be quite nice. However, I would kinda need to know what regiment fits it's role the best.
43rd will go LI, no argument there, neither with my 79th WIP skin, but the others kinda fight over the same two spots. 29th, 82nd, 47th and 28th all compete to replace 33rd and Coldstream.
I would love to make a Peninsular War pack for the British, but for that, I need the 28th's 1809 shako plates, reskin all 47th and 82nd officers (plus KGL, fitting the time period), mess around with the units' pants models in the .Brfs and lots of 'fun' problems I simply don't have the time to deal with right now.
However, once I'm finally done with finals and university stress, I promise you all a neat skin pack, featuring some neat looking regiments, with their fancy colours and spiffing officers.
-
Well. We (Kochi's Skin Warehouse and Beta's Shack) can always work together to finish a pack. I mean.... it's a huge job. So why not work together? Benefits us both! :)

I just wanna add that any current mods (texture/model based) you have installed WILL stop working after you download the beta. I recommend after installing the beta immediately deleting all your texture and resources folders and verifying the integrity of your game cache (message me if you don't know how). Then re install any texture or model based mods as you please

Not quite. I've already found COUNTLESS bugs in ALL my skins. If I don't manage to fix them all in time, I'll take down the download links on patch release, then reupload everything in both full packs and patches.
If anyone has installed the beta, DON'T DOWNLOAND ANYTHING, it will break your game. Anything that involves changes in mmtextures and mmmaterials.brf will automatically break the beta patch.

Kochi, would it be possible for you to make the Centre and Light Companies of the 28th, when you're done on any current bug fixes/projects? It would be lovely to place them next to my current 28th Grenadier Company skins. (I realise it could take a rather large amount of time for them to be on your project list.)

It is good to know that you are doing a skin for the Canadian Fencibles since they are on the unit list for the War of 1812 Mod that I am a team member of. If any of the other planned units for this mod interest you, please let me know. You can find pictures of these units on page 3 of the War of 1812 thread in the Mods In Development section. Other British faction units on our list include:
1st Royal Scots
93rd Highlanders (dressed in trews and humble bonnets)
Canadian Voltiguers
Glengarry Light Infantry (same as 95th rifles less waist belt and powder horn)
19th Light Dragoons
British General
Royal Marine Artillery, Rocket Detachment

That can't be the 23rd. The Royal Welsh Fusiliers were, as the name suggests, fusiliers, and therefore all their coats had shoulder wings. Plus, 23rd had the 'kite' shaped lace pattern, not the rectangular ones.

The bearskin hats were for home service only. Ergo 23rd wasn't supposed to wear them in campaign during the Napoleonic Wars.
But do not worry. I have enough info on 23rd to feed my curiosity for at least a year and a half.

Very cool! Do the Loyal Lusitanian Legion next! ;)
-
Why is the Pipe Major's rank insignia messed up?
-
Highland musicians didn't wear reverse coloured coats. They wore the same red ones as everyone else in the regiment. The only exception was the band leader, who wore a white coat. The coats were all white with no facing colour in the usual places, but all the lace (and the fuzz on the wings) was in facing colour.
Sometimes the regular musicians are recorded in white coats, too. Not always, though.
-
Any chance of expanding the 23rd request to covering the Centre and Light Infantry companies as well? I know it's a bit of a pain, but they don't seem to be able to find the thread right now. >_<

I based 79th on the Mont St. Jean website, which had musicians' coats green. I did see most bagpipers wearing standard sergeant clothes in pictures and paintings, but I thought this would add more to the game's variety of uniforms, rather than having almost every single line infantry Brit wearing red.
I was also in doubt with the officers' pants. I know they weren't supposed to wear kilts, but idk if they should keep the vainilla ones or have the boots with the white pompoms and dark grey pants.
(I still don't know what's breeches and what's trousers ingame, so bear with me)
Why is the Pipe Major's rank insignia messed up?
Idk, I tried fixing it multiple times, and only succeeded at failing. As far as I know, it's an animation screw-up.
I'll see what I can do for the next patch.

Lovely!! ;D
-
Nice skin! I would like it if it wasn't so clean though
-
Awesome skin and preview info! Really good work!
And i have a question about my request, would you make the Grenadier Company for Chernigovskiy Pehotniy Polk? (Replaces Pavlovskiy or Preobrazhenskiy)
-
Very nice Koachi, perhaps the best Highlander re-skin I've seen.
-
Holy! Could you please make such an awesome divider for the 4e Grenadiers? Great work!
-
Kochi great work, but seriously... lay off the Fancy pictures... I want to see the creation not the pretty pictures (that wont appear in game). It makes my computer lagg :-:. Plus it takes forever to load the images....
-
The idea of the fancy pics is for clans to use them. I'm not only presenting the skins, but the flags and dividers are for ingame regiments to use in their websites and forum threads. Besides, it only takes (me at least) 20-30 seconds to load everything, in both cellphone and PC.
And come on. It's only four pics, it's not like I'm bombarding my posts with fancy stuff.
Anyway. Here's the divider for the 4e Grenadiers that Mack requested:

The 61st didn't have a rifle company and apart from the buff facings they looked absolutely nothing like the 52nd. If your going to ask for a re-skin then get some actual relevant information instead of images of random vaguely similiar regiments.

Seriously, don't make up you own history. If its historically inaccurate then just say it..
If you can't even put the effort in to find the uniforms of the actual 61st, why should you expect Koachi to put the effort in to make a skin for you?

Yeah good point. Just scratch my request. The regiment's defunct now anyway, and wasn't historically accurate to begin with. We were just a Rifle company which didn't exist in the actual NW wars.
Apologies to Kochi, I just wanted to get something for the regiment.
-
Gents, although I appreciate your enthusiasm for historical accuracy, you shouldn't have bombarded this poor fellow with historical-inaccuracy hatred.
For skin making, I don't really care making a 100% historically inaccurate one. If I wanted to, I could replace all the French troops with walking bologna sandwiches, which would have uncircumcised dicks for limbs.
I'll take skins requests that are -MAKEABLE-, not necessarily historically accurate ones. By 'makeable' I mean I should be able to make them with whatever models and materials NW already has, or that I can easily make myself. For instance, most uniforms of the Napoleonic era, some of the 1790's and a few Crimean.
You're saying this fellow posted up pictures of many different regiments that looked similar. Well, I could have done a generic, with blank laces, badges and equipment. Or even better, inventing a fully original unit, giving me more creative freedom to screw around in Paint.net and OpenBRF.
Now... where did I put that sandwich model?
-

I for one would like to see this. Do I make the request with the standard application form?
-
Superb work! If you have some spare time, could you make a 53e Régiment d'infanterie divider? A Voltigeur and Artillerie look or something like it.
Most of the uniforms were similar, but here's some reference if it helps, make sure to only use the Voltigeur tab:
http://centjours.mont-saint-jean.com/uniformes_uniteFR.php?uniformes=4&drapeau=15RIL.png
Anything you can put together would be great.
Magner.
-
Koachi, i noticed that after i downloaded the 82nd skin that the Grenadiers lack hats. So they just show up as bald, only the Ensign and Officer have hats.
-
hmm... odd...
It happens to some, but not others. Idk what's with that.
Redownload the skin in a few hours. I'll update the dropbox .rar with a fix.
EDIT:
Okay... took longer than expected.
Anyway, the fix was included in the 82nd.rar download.
-
Could you make a 44th (East Essex) Regiment of Foot banner? I can send you any more details if needed. It would be awesome, thanks!
-
Eh Kochi, can the newly formed 43rd regiment use this divider in their thread?

@Joer
Feel free to use the stuff and the skins. (Just to make things clear on why people should ask: Don't tell me, and I might delete or replace the pics after a while)
@Menelaos and Magner
I'll have your dividers done for tomorrow. That is, if I survive this night. If I fall asleep on the keyboard, it'll be on Friday.

Hmm... I'll have a look on that. I really haven't noticed anything wrong with it, but then again, it's a really small piece and I never zoomed in on it.
Edit: Aight, I had a look and fixed the issue. Idk what's the big deal with it, really, but whatever, I have nothing better to do one way or the other.
Link 1 should be updated by now. Link 2 may take a while to update.

Did you not notice that the plate was being lit from below?
-
Did you not notice that the plate was being lit from below?
To be honest, I didnt :P. I didn't even make testing for the Fencibles, just textured, made sure I had no coding bugs and took the pictures.
Also, Doc, I just found this weird shako plate from the 55th Foot, wore before the 1812 shako replacement:
Any idea on what units had these plates for their light companies? C.E. Franklin's book doesn't specify anywhere on that matter, except saying "some regiments" and tagging 55th amongst them.
-
It wasn't uncommon for regiments to make non-regulations changes to their shako-plates, but I've never seen any thing that suggests any regiments replaced the crown with a hunting horn. If there's a surviving one, I haven't seen it.
Then again, Franklin's works aren't exactly known for the accuracy. He provides a very large swath of information, some of which is accurate, but he seems to do no original research and usually relies on faulty secondary and tertiary sources.
-
Well, something tells me if they ever existed, at least one or two must be resting here in Argentina or Uruguay. When the British invaded in 1807, both the Light companies of 88th and 87th engaged in the Battle of Buenos Aires, and somebody must have stolen a their hats as souvenirs.
I'll look around and see what I can find.
Edit: I forgot to add, if the LI wouldn't have that, between 1807-1812, what would they have on their shakos? Big rectangular-ish plate or the hunting horn badge? (assuming they have stovepipe shakos, not belgics)
-
Light infantry companies of line regiments wore the same as everyone else in the company, save for the green plume. Light infantry regiments wore hunting horns instead of the plate. Both points apply equally to the pre-1811 shakoes and the 1811 shakoes.
-
So pretty much you're telling me that every single skin I made, which includes the stovepipe shakos and all 3 companies have the wrong plates for LI.
PERFECT. BLOODY PERFECT.
/)_-
(um... That applies to officers as well?)
-
That would appear to be the case.
Officers wore the same shakoes as the men, although it seems some light officers continued to wear stovepipes all the way up to Waterloo and beyond. The men would have been in the 1811 shako by the end of the Peninsular War.
-
That would appear to be the case.
The men would have been in the 1811 shako by the end of the Peninsular War.
The provisional battles might have proven an exception there, given their odd situation.
-
So kochi, are you going to update your skins to work with the new patch?
-
You have no idea how easy it is to say that, man. ;D
I started with 29th skins yesterday at 7pm. It's 8am right now, I didn't go to sleep, and I'm still not done. Only halfway through the process.
However, expect new stuff after this patch. I'm adding spyglass cases to most officers, as well as some new hats (finally could include the lovely bicorne) and Wellington replacements with other high ranking officers (I really want to add Picton and his fancy top hat).
In the meantime, I shout for all animators out there:

Please please please release the Chernigovskiy Pehotniy Polk.

Heya Kochi.
If you have the free time, would you mind whipping up a divider for the 2nd Battalion Light Infantry, King's German Legion? :P Your other work is brilliant.
-
Please please please release the Chernigovskiy Pehotniy Polk.
I haven't even started with that one, mate. First I have to fix the other skins, which will take an awfully long while.
Same will apply to dividers. Give me a few more days to update the broken skins and then I'll get on with making new stuff.
Also, Vince plans to release a quick-fix patch at some point this week, so the skins' code portions will probably break again soon.
-
Say Kochi, I know you're busy with everything thanks to the patch, but I was wondering if you could do a 44th skin? Hinkel's skin got bugged and he's bust with War of Rights, so I've been looking for someone to make one for the regiment.

If Hinkel authorises me to go ahead and fix his skins, I will do it (after I'm done with my own), but I won't make my own 44th Reg skins. They're a nice unit, but too generic.

Here are two patches that fix 29th's and 41st's code issues after the latest NW quickfix patch:
29th Regiment of Foot (https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/19421115/Warband%20Textures/29th/quickfix29.rar)
41st Regiment of Foot (https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/19421115/Warband%20Textures/41st/quickfix41.rar)
All full packs updated as well. If you encounter any bugs, tell me.

On the front, you have the Loyal Lusitanian Legion as "To be decided" for what unit to replace. It's simple, really... British 51st and British Artillery. The LLL had two battalions of light infantry cazadores, and a battery of light artillery. It was made up of around 800 Portuguese Emigres (Expatriates), a little over 100 Germans, and around 80 British soldiers, excluding the high staff which was all British. If you need further info for the LLL, I can get it for you. I studied them many years ago in high school for a history project while we were studying the Napoleonic Wars. I still have some sources that I got the info from.
Just tell me if you need them.
(P.S.) I run the LLL regiment for NW. I'm eagerly awaiting your release of the LLL. Can't wait to see how you do them. :D
-
If you do still take requests for dividers, i'd like to request one :P
I would like a divider for the Kievskiy Grenaderskiy Polk. An idea for what i wanted would be: a Russian imperial eagle/Coat of arms (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/e/e8/Lesser_CoA_of_the_empire_of_Russia.svg/4000px-Lesser_CoA_of_the_empire_of_Russia.svg.png) as the centerpiece and the triple flame grenade on each end. This was the best picture i could find (http://img718.imageshack.us/img718/72/grenadier1812half.png) (On the shako). However feel free to be creative, most important is that it looks good and i'll let you decide on that.
-
i'd be absolutely in your debt if you could patch the 47th skin, im in the 47th Lancs regiment and i'd love for my regiment to be able to use your skins in game
I know were like, the 5th regiment to take the name 47th up since the skins were made, but i'd still be extremely happy if we could get our own regiment uniforms!
-
I will update all skins when I have time.
And that reminds me, 43rd Regiment skins fully updated. Check page 2 for the download links.

Excellent work Kochi.

Heya Kochi.
If you have the free time, would you mind whipping up a divider for the 2nd Battalion Light Infantry, King's German Legion? :P Your other work is brilliant.
Just in case. We've changed from the 7th to the 2nd, and I thought it'd be a waste to make one for the wrong name. x_x On a different note, however, would you be interested in reskinning the 95th Rifles to the 2nd Battalion Light Infantry, King's German Legion? There was an existing skin a few months ago, however it's out of date now and the download no longer functions.

Those uniforms are Crimean, mate, not Napoleonic.
Luckily for you, there is a 93rd Highlanders skin somewhere in these forums. Look around the minor mods section, it should be there.
As for the skin updates and dividers, my most sincere apologies for the delays. IRL stuff is getting in the middle of things, and whenever I manage to get a few hours of free time, that little steam pop up shows up, telling my my clan has an event or training.

Also could you make the file an exe? It would really help. Thanks!

Um, first of, there are no pics there. :-\ Go ahead and edit the post.
Second, as of right now I'm awfully busy with reenactments. I had one event yesterday, today I had to spend most of my time cleaning a musket, and tomorrow I have another, far bigger event.
Also, the idea of making a .exe isn't that bad. It would solve a few issues if I can make it work, though I have no idea whether I can use that to replace the vainilla files.

Um.... okay?
Look mate, go ahead and edit my stuff if you like, but tell me before doing it. Don't go around touching my files and releasing them just like that.
I never gave you permission to edit my skins, let alone make a public release. There is a good reason behind the delay of 47th Foot's skins update, as well as me not personally updating other people's work.
I'm not gonna ask you to take the link down. I am a bit annoyed that you didn't say anything, but by no means I'll be an arse about it.

As for the flag just cut the one out from the picture and place it in the flag folder. It's quite simple, since i doubt he'd be doing your request in a long, long time, considering the queue.

Hello! When you come off of retirement I would like to request a divider if you still do them. :)
It's of the 39th New York from the American Civil War, I don't care much for how you do it but I would like for the hat to somehow be included. If you could make it look like the hat in this picture that would be awesome: http://www.garibaldiguard.com/2_neshaminy_2010.jpg
Also if you could somehow show flags of Germany, Italy, Hungary, Switzerland, France, and Spain as well as the US flag, that would be awesome. Maybe you could put three of them on each side and then have the US flag on both sides, like:
US - Germany - Spain - Hungary - HAT - Switzerland - France - Italy - US
Maybe with each flag coming up and out of the divider like:
=\ =\ (hat) /= /=
I'm not sure how clear that is but the only thing that matters if it looks good which I'm confident it will. :)
I'm writing this later on, a friend of mine made this for me and it's exactly the right format of how I wanted it but I don't like the style. It looks like Polanball... lol. Anyway I'll post it so you know at least what I'm looking for, hopefully that will make it easier. Also the hat I don't like since it's already on the 39th thread as something else, and I was hoping for something slightly bigger... it's fine if you leave it though since my main problem is the text and flags.

Hey Kochi, have you ever considered making a shako cover for Britain? I remember Beta Knight was working on one for Prussia but the project was never finished. :c
-
It was finished.
-
Just downloaded the 29th, and I must say this is by far the best uniform pack available. As a devout student of the British Army in the Napoleonic Wars this has the historic feel to it. Now that most of the classes are the 29th, during commander battles and sieges it appears as though one glorious regiment is destroying the French columns like the 29th did at Talavera. Can't wait to see what else you have planned!
(I would like to see the 92nd for the highland class ;)

Think I got a fixed version of this somewhere on my pc. Adds the proper kings flag and fixes the flag on the bagpipe :)

Okay! So I think it's time to put the workshop back in action. I'll start slowly, though, since I still have a few things to take care of IRL, plus my new NCO position in the 47th Regiment of Foot.
I will not open up skin requests yet, but divider requests are open. If you want one for your regiment, send me a PM with the specifications and regimental name or number you want.
Here's the first release, 42nd Highland Regiment, made for Diplex:

Never got a response so I'll just move this up a tad. I'll also give a better description because the one I did before was pretty bad.
Just to be clear, I put these guidelines leniently. I don't want it to seem like I'm making demands.
I'd like you to make a similar divider to this, but with a few key differences:
-Fusiliers-
1. The obvious alteration which makes it say 63eme Regiment d'Infanterie de Ligne, also the motto (From what I've found) of the regiment was "Au-dessus de Tout" (Above all). It's like the Coldstream motto "Nulli Secondus" but not in Latin (Karth made the mixup way back when). If you can find a way to impliment it, it would be nice. Personally I have horrid artistic skills so I have more faith in you than myself. :P
2. I'd like the Shako plate to be the version that was mainly used by 63e members from what I've read, that version would be the plate used after the first restoration but with the Royal symbol removed, Mont Saint Jean has a good representation of this.
3. Try and make it seem more... different than the 53e's.
-Voltigeurs-
1. Same
2. Same
3. Make the bugle and shako plate Gold, the 63e Volts had gold plates like the Grenadiers and the Fusiliers
4. Do as you did with the 22e with the red in the center, but make it green instead
(https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/19421115/Warband%20Textures/Dividers/22e.png)
-Garde Imperial (We have a Guard Company)-
1. Same
2. Same
3. Make the side symbols same as the 22e's
4. Make it fancy, the Guards are our elite company and it'd be nice if they had some flair
-Artillery-
1. Same
2. Instead of an infantry plate, use the plate used by Artillery regiments (Same but with crossed cannons instead in the center)
3. Side symbols same as the plate
Well, that's everything. Thanks for the consideration, if you don't have time or the dividers feel to samey then feel free to tell me.

Could you make a 40th Regiment of Foot (2nd Somersetshire) divider?
Thank you for your time.
-
Could you make a 91st one as well at your own convenience? I guarantee it would have actual use.
Still waiting for you to just make a catalog for every regiment. Lol.
-
I speak to Kochi quite often, I don't think he's interested in Skinning atm sry guys. I shall steam him tonight and see if he'll start the 40th/91st skins. He's very busy with school work and IRL stuff ::)

Finally, good skins old boy :-*
-
Well, about bloody time I updated everything.
As of today, all skins in the Skin Warehouse are up to date with the current patch. Have fun playing with them.
Also, I had the 31st and 71st skins I made for Marks collecting dust and unused, so I thought it best to publish them here. They're essentially the same thing, the only real difference being the hat and number on the backpack.
I also have another version of the 47th Regiment skin in my folders, which is a complete remake based off the early peninsular war uniforms. I'll upload it later today or tomorrow, after I have all the artwork done for it.
-
Thank you for all your hard work :).
-
Amazing!! :D

Wtf? I playtested the skin and everything was fine.
I'll have a look, give me a moment.

What exactly is this? Like different hats or something?

You'll see ;D
Also, the problem should be fixed now. Turns out the itemkinds file I uploaded was broken.

Is that the only bug or is it like that for online games too? Cause if it's only bugin out in offline it should work completely fine online. It's like that for a lot of skins.
-
So far it only bugs out with offline play. But it doesn't make any sense. The files are the exact same.

I know. There are TONS of updated skins out there that does that. No one knows why. But they still work online.

The 9th looks exactly like the 29th... :P

it just aint the same man :(
-
I'm not making skins anymore, mate. The ones I've released recently are either old ones I made last year or quite older ones that needed an update to the latest patch. As of right now, I can't really put as much time and effort on my skins as before, and I refuse to lower quality for the sake of saving time.
You have my permission to ask anyone to convert the 29th skins into a 9th reg skin, though. It's a fairly simple job, but you'll have a lot of trouble getting an accurate looking shako plate, since so far I couldn't find any images on how their famous "Britannia" plates looked like.
However, here's a good image you can use to make your reg colour:

Wrong era though, this is late Victorian.
-
I think those plates were used on the white pith helmets. Yeah, way too modern.
-
You could always just have a shako cover.
-
Good point, but personally I think shako covers on stovepipes look bad. I prefer the covers on the belgics way more.
But yeah, it's a possibility.
-
I would love to see Shako covers in-game, they look nice and they are practical.
-
I already made a belgic cover for Marks, and I've seen French covers already made and applied on some skins.
I have no idea whether Stovepipe covers were made or not.

Well, since you chaps are very good friends of mine, I decided to do a little favour for ye. Although I can't really spend much time in making skins anymore, I could sneak a few minutes and make this. Hopefully it turns out useful for anyone who does make a 9th reg skin in the future.

Those should fit perfectly inside the colours2.dds file. I made them as a separate .png so the compression doesn't lower the quality.
I also made a divider for you last night.

Edit: nvm
-
Would the creation of a 3rd Buffs divider be too much to ask for?

Do you create the flags from scratch or do you use any source?

If you could just change the numbers for the 63e that would be most appreciated Kochi :)

Well, after a huge wait, here's the divider for the 3rd Buffs. My apologies to Stunned Lime for the long delay. It completely slipped my mind.
I hope you chaps like it.
Do you create the flags from scratch or do you use any source?
Depends on the flag. I mostly use the Mont St Jean flags, then edit the regimental number to fit the skin (same place where most of NW's flags came from). However, there are a few that needed some extra work, like the 9th Reg's, or the 82nd's. The 79th, as well as the 41st and Canadian Fencibles are just a slightly edited copy-paste.
If you could just change the numbers for the 63e that would be most appreciated Kochi :)
Spoiler
(https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/19421115/Warband%20Textures/Dividers/53eLigne.png)
Well, this one was also long overdue. Therefore, I went through with a better design than just a copy-paste of 53e's.
EDIT: For all those who want dividers, I'm afraid I can't really work on them anymore. I felt the responsibility to make these since they were requested months ago, and I forgot about them. From now on I close all requests until further notice.
-
Yay! Thank you kotchi!
-
Hey Kochi I asked Mortem this but he no reply so I ask u. I have a few questions about modeling/texturing...
The programs I use are Wings3D and Paint.Net (I know not very good)
Whenever I replace existing skins with another one it always does this.
Spoiler
(https://i.imgur.com/3DAr2IX.jpg)
Could you tell me what I'm doing wrong? Also how do you create custom textures as you can clearly tell the textures are also not right.
Any help would be much appreciated!
-
Okay, I can see at least two problems with that.
First, there's probably some error going on in the itemkinds or troops .txts. The rigid coat frame might be a cause of that. Or, another possibility, is that you're not adding the bones and animations to your coat model. To do that, simply click on another coat model in openbrf, go to edit/copy, then select your own model, and go edit/paste rigging. That should fix the animation problem.
The textures are the second problem. The eppaulette, sash, coat and crossed strap thing are all sharing the same texture, but they're not supposed to do so. Each of these parts are supposed to be separate models, each with it's own texture. To fix that, go to openbrf, right click on your coat model, then click 'separate all frames'. That should separate all parts, so you can edit the textures individually.
Of course, if that picture's from a skin someone else made, and you just downloaded it and put it into the game, that means the itemkinds and troops .txts from that skin are different to those used by your current NW patch build. If that skin was made before May (or was it June?) of last year, it probably has outdated txts and brfs, rendering it useless.
I hope that helped.
-
Don't suppose it would be possible to have a divider for the 57th friends :)

Kochi he is confused since I downloaded your 43rd skins and made a large skin pack that turns a lot of UK things into the 43rd. I would like to release this (with full credit to you of course) if it's fine with you.

Recruit skin is glorious, except for tiny details. The undress training uniform didn't have galons (the white horizontal lines on British uniforms)
example pic of what the recruit uniform looked like, it has yellow facings but you get the idea

Kochi are you still Alive
-
I bump this mainly because Kochi's skins are all awesome, but also because I have a question.
Your stovepipe shakos, Kochi. Did you do any changes to them whatsoever when it comes to the model of the hat itself? Just wondering, cause your shakos look so much better than what the original model for the 33rd did.
-
Well, if I remember correctly, the texture was darkened, but that's about it. The only real changes besides that were adding green cords on the 43rd, the rear backplate on 28th and variations of the frontal plate for Centre, Grenadier and Light companies in the more recent skins. Officers of some units get feather plumes, but that's just a replacement for the woollen hackle.
Beyond that, I didn't do anything to it. At least not that I remember.
Wow, this topic was buried for more than a year. Nice necro, mate.

I am the king of necros! Nah, not at all but I think the whole community agrees with me when I say your skins are great. ;)
It's weird that there are no other changes... Cause it just feels like the model for your stovepipes are different. Maybe it's just the texture. Thanks for the answer.

What program do you use to make those avatars?

I just used paint.net, nicking the templates from the Mont St Jean site and editing the stuff accordingly to fit the regiment I want to portray.

When you say editing the stuff accordingly, do you use the paint bucket or the recolor option ?

I use the Hue and Saturation tool. Keeps all the shading but changes colour and brightness well enough.

A little note: One of my reenactment mates sent me an online copy of C.E. Franklin's British Napoleonic Uniforms book. If you need anything for reference, PM me. (Or James Grant, he has the book as well).

Which unit does it replace?

And this one? If it's 33rd, I'm getting this baby.

You can clearly see that is says "31st Regiment of Foot - The Young Buffs"... xD

I was referring to which regiment it overwrites.

It is also clear that the skin has a bugler unit. (This is when you realize that it's light infantry and does not replace the 33rd Foot.)

Well thank you for the revelation.

31st replaces 51st, Canadian Fencibles replace Coldstream, if I'm not mistaken.
Also, unfortunately you can't have both skins at the same time. The game's code doesn't allow for that, unfortunately.

Wait, what? How? Not even if you move the meshes and materials together through Open.Brf...?
-
Well, if you know how to do all that, then you can. I meant if you just download and throw the files into the directories without any editing.
-
Hello Mr. Kochi, I understand you don't do skins that often but I'm in need of some re-skinning help.
Could you help me with making shako plates? If you're busy or something don't reply to this, thank you.
-
What exactly are you trying to make? I could give you a few pointers on how to pull it off on your own.
-
Are you still making Reskins, If you do please Contact me as soon as you can.

Are you still taking orders?

Which regiment does the 41st replace? Also, I know that you aren't taking any requests right now but I would like to see a skin for the 35th Royal Sussex Regiment someday in the near future.
-
If I remember correctly, the 41st should replace the Coldstream Guards.
Also, I'm afraid I had to wipe my hard drive, and all non-clouded modding files were lost. If you look around the forum, I posted some DIY style templates in .pdn format a while back. You can use those to make yourself a 35th skin.

What are the chances of updating the images on this thread :)

Shit. I forgot Dropbox stopped supporting image hosting a few months ago. It's going to take me ages to restore everything; I'll go at it this weekend that I have some free time.
-
what happened to the logos?

Could be glitched...

Nice necro, both of you. Also: The reason why some images might not work on the forum is because of links growing old. They simply stop working. You can't upload an image by code on the forums and expect it to last forever. :'(
-
The problem is that Dropbox no longer allows for image hosting on the public folder. I still have them, but I realised it would take me weeks to reupload and edit every single image URL in the thread.
To be honest, and considering I no longer make skins, nor partake in this community, I decided to not go through with it. The download links to the skins still work (2nd mirrors, that is), and that's enough for me.
Sorry, guys.
