Regiments / Russian Lifeguard Artillery Brigade (NA) *Recruiting*

Not a lot of history about the actual brigade itself because its role in battle is pretty basic. It was used at the battle Austerlitz as well as the battle of Borodino. Rules are pretty basic don't troll, FOL, do anything not commanded, etc... for the most part we're a pretty relaxed reg just don't be stupid. Big decisions will usually come to a vote, as I like to keep a democracy for the most part. Ranks? Show me and/or any of the officers that you can do good in line battles and you get promoted a lot quicker. Recruiting also helps your rank. The only thing that will hurt it is being stupid. Anyway if you're looking for a cool reg with a lot o' spirit then add BB2214 on steam!

Union / 20th Regiment Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry (NA) *Recruiting*
« on: January 23, 2016, 06:43:39 am »
The 20th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry, also known as the "Harvard Regiment", was a regiment of infantry in the American Civil War. The regiment was so nicknamed because the officers of the 20th were young Harvard graduates. In addition some, but not all, the private soldiers had attended Harvard. The 20th was organized at Readville August 29 to September 4, 1861. After training they left Massachusetts for Washington, D. C., September 4. They would fight until the war's conclusion; being mustered out on July 16 and discharged July 28, 1865.

Rules are pretty basic don't troll, FOL, do anything not commanded, etc... for the most part we're a pretty relaxed reg just don't be stupid. We usually have at least a line of 9. I don't know why but some people will only join big regiments, as if they need to be any bigger :P. We're a very tight-knit group so if any problems rise up they're usually dealt with immediately. Big decisions will usually come to a vote, as I like to keep a democracy for the most part. Ranks? Show me and/or any of the officers that you can do good in line battles and you get promoted a lot quicker. Recruiting also helps your rank. The only thing that will hurt it is being stupid. Regiments / Roger's Rangers (NWC) NA/EU *Recruiting*
« on: January 12, 2016, 01:06:50 pm »
Please not that this regiment is for New World Conflict

Roger's Rangers

History
Rogers' Rangers was initially a provincial company from the colony of New Hampshire, attached to the British Army during the Seven Years' War (called the French and Indian War in the United States). The unit was quickly adopted into the British army as an independent ranger company. It was trained by Major Robert Rogers as a rapidly deployable light infantry force tasked mainly with reconnaissance as well as conducting special operations against distant targets. Their tactics, built on earlier colonial precedents, but codified for the first time by Rogers, proved remarkably effective, so much so that the initial company was expanded into a ranging corps of more than a dozen companies (containing as many as 1,200–1,400 men at its peak). The ranger corps became the chief scouting arm of British Crown forces by the late 1750s. The British valued them highly for gathering intelligence about the enemy.

Rules
Follow commands, rules, etc... Just be respectful. And always remember one thing, it's just a game but be nice.

17. Suomen hengenpelastaja Rykmentti

Not a lot but a bit of background:
Not a lot is known of what the Finnish LifeGuard Regiment did in the Napoleonic Wars besides their fighting in Borodino. Which is literally the only instance when the Finnish LifeGuard Regiment comes up in history. Mostly because afterwards they changed into a lights regiment but that doesn't matter! :P

Quotes from the guard infantry at Borodino:
"The French cavalry again resumed its charges
but was repulsed by the crossfire of these 2 battalions.
The cavalry did not dare to harass our battalions ever since
and only observed us from a distance.
The French artillery, however, inflicted horrible casualties on us."
"The enemy fire destroyed our ranks, but failed to produce
any disorder among the men."

Rules are pretty basic don't troll, FOL, do anything not commanded, etc... for the most part we're a pretty relaxed reg just don't be stupid. Anyway if you're looking for a cool reg with a lot o' spirit then add BB2214 on steam!

Regiments / 18th Elverumske Skiløbercompagnie [NA]
« on: September 14, 2015, 03:32:40 am »

BIT O' HISTORY
Ski troops have been in use in Scandinavia since the Viking ages, and during the war between Sweden and Norway in 1808 and 1814, the Norwegians deployed several companies of light infantry using skis.

These are from the "Elverumske Skiløbercompagnie". The uniforms are surprisingly "modern" compared to some of the other uniforms wore by troops in Europe at the time.

The ski troops used rifles and were generally expert marksmen, some of them reportedly being able to securely hit targets 250-300 meters away.

The equipment was generally manufactured locally (except weapons) and through a regional conscription system, 3-5 farms were responsible for outfitting 1 soldier. In general service in the ski troops was attractive, and this meant they had among the best soldiers (other regiments would often receive whatever local troublemakers the farmers wanted to get rid of...).

The uniforms worn by these two guys have been recreated from period drawings and patterns, and we see to the left a private light infantryman (jaeger) and to the right an officer. The color is designed to work as camouflage in the forested areas along the border towards Sweden, and they did also have cream/white overcoats for use in open areas. Other Norwegian troops, i.e. line infantry and dragoons, at the time wore bright red jackets, not particularly well suited for concealing them in snowy areas...

Regiments / 26th Cameronian Scots Rifles
« on: June 07, 2015, 07:53:48 pm »
Origins:
The Cameronians (Scottish Rifles) were formed following the amalgamation of the 26th Regiment of Foot (The Cameronians) Regiment with the 90th Regiment of Foot (Perthshire Volunteers) in 1881. The 1st Battalion was known unofficially at ‘The Cameronians’ while the 2nd Battalion was known as ‘The Scottish Rifles’. Together they would go onto serve in the Second Boer War.

The Cameronians (Scottish Rifles) regiment marching into battlefieldHowever, the regiment can trace its heritage even further back to the 1680s. It was originally raised as the Cameronian Guard by the Lords of the Convention. It took its name from the Cameronians, the followers of Richard Cameron, a field preacher and leader in the Covenanter movement who declared war on King Charles III in response to his efforts to eject Presbyterian ministers from the Church of Scotland for refusing to accept the rule of the bishops.

It was officially recognised in 1689 as the 26th (Cameronian) Regiment of Foot following the Glorious Revolution under King William III and later served at the Battle of Dunkeld during the First Jacobite Rising and in campaigns led by the Duke of Marlborough. It won special recognition at the Battle of Blenheim during the War of the Spanish Succession and saw action in the American War of Independence, the Napoleonic Wars, and at the Battle of Corunna during the Peninsular War. It also served in India and China during the First Opium War and took part in the Expedition to Abyssinia (Ethiopia).

The 90th Regiment of Foot (Perthshire Volunteers) was formed in 1794 and served during the French Revolutionary War, the Napoleonic Wars and in South Africa during the Cape Frontier War and Second Boer War.

First World War:
Both battalions were posted to the Western Front in 1914 and remained there throughout the war. The regiment raised an additonal 25 battalions from the Reserve, Territorial and New armies over the course of the conflict. They saw action in France and Belgium, Gallipoli, Egypt, Salonika and at various home stations, receiving a total of 27 battle honours. Over 7,000 men of the regiment lost their lives with several awarded the Victoria Cross.

Regiments / The Royal Garrison Artillery (NA)
« on: August 31, 2014, 04:21:18 am »
The Royal Garrison Artillery

The Royal Garrison Artillery (RGA) was an arm of the Royal Artillery that was originally tasked with manning the guns of the British Empire's forts and fortresses, including coastal artillery batteries, the heavy gun batteries attached to each infantry division, and the guns of the siege artillery. The Royal Garrison Artillery came into existence as a separate entity when existing coastal defence, mountain, siege and heavy batteries of the Royal Artillery were amalgamated into a new sub-branch. (I know that's not a lot but I'm not gonna right an essay)
What we look for
We look for people who are mature and can handle themselves in high pressure situations. We don't want people who just scream into their mic constantly. It really isn't that much to ask for.
