Syria and the Chemical weaponry in the United Kingdom
« on: August 29, 2013, 06:54:10 pm »
So...
What do you think about those?
I'll explain.

1. Dear United Kingdom army has revealed that it has chemical weaponry.
2. Syrian civil war and possibly World War 3.
Debate away.

Whatever about the UK, I think that all this conflict in the Middle East will cause World War 3. And soon enough

You know that the UK is going to participate also, right?

The Syrian government pretty much announced they have nuclear bombs.
So Russia will help the US and UK too, and Israel of course.
But Iran will join Syria.

I was on about that the cause will be Syria and Egypt and other countries around it. If the US and its allies attack Syria, which will happen, Russia (as it has warned) and its allies will retaliate and cause another war.

Do you actually think these shitty 3rd rate military countries actually stand a chance?

I'm not worried, nobody will nuke anyone, history has already shown us that as the fear of us humans will stop us from doing any such act.

Either way they'll be squashed out of existence.

I suppose Sven has a point. Although if Russia takes Syria side, which is possible at this stage, there will be all out war on a much larger scale.

There will be no such thing as a total war anywhere in the future due to nukes. There will only be limited wars and we all know that if the US is involved, the side they are on will win. Russia will collapse if they ever attempt to face a country like the U.S. or an alliance like NATO. They are seriously poor and their government unstable.

Never said anything about total war. Just said that there will be a war. And I can agree that Russia may not win, but with allies around the middle east, there is a chance.

I'm pretty sure that translates to a total war.

And no, there is no chance in my mind of Russia being able to win against NATO, their allies are weak and will easily be overrun and all they will be able of doing is guerilla warfare which wont win a war against super and major powers. Sure you can mention Vietnam but i seriously doubt anything like that will happen.

I may be underrestimating that alliance, but im pretty sure Russia isn't stupid enough to join a war against an alliance lead by the USA.

The powder keg that is the Middle East will not begin another World War, at least so long as individuals from the neighboring countries and countries further away remain rational about their interference in the Syrian Civil War. At present, we have no idea just who ordered the launch of weapons in Damascus, and I don't think the chemical analysis done by the UN's agents has come in/been announced, yet.

If the US engages in a war without knowledge of who used the chemical weapons and without a UN sanction, then it risks playing the roll of aggressor. If a UN sanction is issued to begin strikes against Syria, then it will be over fairly quickly. The only foreseeable route that would lead to a massive war is if A) somebody engages without support from the UN, B) some do not get involved despite a request from the UN or C) the UN becomes entirely disregarded.

To be completely honest, the US isn't really healthy enough to keep joining wars. Let's sit this one out, unless damning evidence arises that the present regime in Syria engaged in chemical warfare with its own people, which we won't know for a while yet.
