Regiments / Royal Irish Rifles *Old/New Regiment NA*

sentio vereor quod vado pro is = Feel the fear and go for it

The Royal Irish Rifles is a regiment formed of Members from the old 89th Royal Irish Fusiliers. After The Colonel of 89th disbanded the regiment Last night i have decided i am going to continue the traditions of 89th with hopefully most of the original members while welcoming new members! Royal Irish Rifles might sound like a Skirmisher regiment, well we are! After seeing the low number of rifle regiments i chose a really epic name that goes well, i also aimed to keep us as an Irish Regiment. FAUGH A BALLAGH!

History of the Royal Irish Rifles:
The regiment's history dates backs to the reign of King George III. In 1793 the British army expanded to meet the commitments of the war with the French First Republic. As part of that expansion it raised two new regiments of foot, the 83rd and the 86th. At the same time the counties Antrim, Down and Louth regiments of militia were raised.

In 1881, under the Childers Reforms, the 83rd and 86th were amalgamated into a single regiment, named the Royal Irish Rifles, one of eight infantry regiments raised and garrisoned in Ireland. It was the county regiment of Antrim, Down, Belfast and Louth, with its depot located at Belfast. Militarily, the whole of Ireland was administered as a single command within the United Kingdom with Command Headquarters at Parkgate (Phoenix Park) Dublin, directly under the War Office in London.

This is an idea i am piecing together that will include 5 factions like NW does but return a few years earlier prior to Napoleonic conflicts and take a step through revolutionary Europe.
The Units will have new models, names, skins and also will feature brand new fort and battle maps of well known conflicts through the war.
New regiment flags, banner selection and voice overs with New instrument music
this mod will HOPEFULLY aim to be authentic, and legit if i get a good team and some small progress started i will Post The Mod in the Development Area

We are formed of the men from the 89th Royal Irish Fusiliers (Napoleonic wars DLC regiment)
We drill hard, fight hard and listen to epic bagpipe music while har* (moving on)

:About The Real Regiment: (Not about us trying to act cool at some famous battlefield 8)
The Scots Guards (SG), part of the Guards Division, is one of the Foot Guards regiments of the British Army. Their origins lie in the personal bodyguard of King Charles I of England and Scotland. Its lineage can be traced as far back as 1642, although it was only placed on the English Establishment (thus becoming part of what is now the British Army) in 1686.

The Scots Guards is ranked as the third regiment in the Guards Division; as such, Scots Guardsmen can be recognised by having the buttons on their tunics spaced in threes. The regiment consists of a single operational battalion, which has been based in Catterick since 2008, in the armoured infantry role. However, since 1993, the regiment has also maintained an independent company, F Company, permanently based in Wellington Barracks, London on public duties. It is the custodian of the colours and traditions of the 2nd Battalion, which was placed in permanent suspended animation in 1993 as a result of Options for Change. 1st Battalion will be equipped with Mastiff Vehicles under Army 2020 and be under 12th Armoured Infantry Brigade.

Regiments / 1st York Fencibles Recruiting NA Players!
« on: June 18, 2013, 10:31:05 pm »
Though placed on the Army Establishment in 1803, the regiment's recruiting parties did not become active in North America until 1805. This was due to a failed attempt in the Scottish Highlands to raise the regiment from Highlanders wishing to emigrate to the Canadas. Rumours of the regiment being sold to the East India Company brought the first Canadian Fencible Regiment into open rebellion in late 1803. After the regiment's disbandment, the commissioned and non-commissioned officers were transferred to the Canadas to start over. The Highlander NCO’s had little in common with the French and English population and therefore found it difficult to entice settlers to join the ranks of the regiment in a time of peace. The slow growth of the regiment made the Horse Guards hesitant in supplying the fledgling corps with uniforms. To solve this problem, the Lieutenant-Colone1 supplied his men with uniforms from the disbanded Queen's Rangers. After surmounting these initial obstacles, the Canadian Fencibles began to attract able-bodied men from Quebec City to Niagara to the ranks. By the opening of the war, the Canadian Regiment had risen to a strength of over 600 rank and file.

The activities of the regiment during the opening year of the War of 1812-14 were focused on the protection of the Montreal District. In July, the bearskin-headed ranks of the Grenadier coy. and the 'light Bobs' of the light company were embodied with the flank companies of other regular regiments to form a Flank Battalion. The Grenadier wing of the battalion came under the command of Major DeHaren of the Canadian Regiment; the same officer who formally accepted the American surrender at  Beaver Dams, 1813. Though the majority of the regiment was in Lower Canada during 1812, there were detachments protecting supply flotillas up to Kingston, recruiting parties in York, and an officer and his soldier servant attached to Major General Brock's staff at the surrender of Detroit.

So if your willing to take the kings Canadian shilling add RustyBullet (AKA Canada) on steam today!

The 100th Foot was raised in Canada as the 100th Royal Canadians to serve as a regular regiment of the British army. Recruiting is recorded to have begun mid March 1858 and took 3 months. The initial enlistment was for 10 years, but not to exceed 12 years. "The Regiment was thoroughly Canadian, having been recruited...by the various officers in the Provinces of Ontario and Quebec; many of the men being of French origin". In the months of June and July 1858, the regiment embarked from Quebec for England in three detachments, 1200 strong, some arriving in Liverpool on the July 1st, 1858. From Liverpool the Regiment moved down to Shorncliffe where they were re-enforced by other regular army officers and conscripts. The regiment spent over nine months in England training and where "The regiment was accorded the title of 'The Prince of Wales Royal Canadian Regiment', and the Prince himself, then only seventeen years old, presented the colours, this being the first public act he performed by virtue of his position". In March 1859, the Regiment moved to Aldershot for a further 6 weeks training prior to embarkation for Gibraltar. On the move to Gibraltar the 100th numbered 30 officers and 823 other ranks. The Regimental Depot was confirmed as Parkhurst on the Isle of Wight, and the depot in Canada closed.

Regiments / Königin Augusta Garde-Grenadier-Regiment Nr. 4
« on: June 14, 2013, 09:20:25 pm »
The 4th (Queen Augusta) Guards Grenadier Regiment (Königin Augusta Garde-Grenadier-Regiment Nr. 4) was an infantry regiment of the Royal Prussian Army. It was established in 1860 in Koblenz and until 1893 it was the only one of the Prussian Guards outside the region around the German capital Berlin.

The regiment was named after Queen Augusta in 1890 - to commemorate her death. The Guards moved to Spandau in 1893 and in 1897 to Moabit. Last commander was Walter Freiherr von Schleinitz (1872-1950) in summer 1918.

I know it's not alot of background but that's what i could find  8)
