has the dev team ever considered to have the Commander in Cheifs Guard as the elite unit for the Congressional forces?
the unit was Washington's personal guards regiment that fallowed him everywhere and they were the best disciplined, drilled and the best shots of the army. Because I think Washington asked that each regiment give him 10 of there finest men to form this unit.

I just want to say the 17th Light dragoons and the British Legion were two separate units. Tarleton commanded the British Legion and the 17th Light Dragoons were a separate unit but those two unit did serve together.

-The Marines were not royal unit 1804(if you are a royal unit you have blue facing the marines didn't have blue facings till after 1804)

In the interest of nit-picking even further, I have to point out that the Marines were granted the 'Royal' title on 29 April, 1802. The order to adopt blue facings came through on 6 May, though it stated the new uniforms weren't to be adopted until 4 June to celebrate the King's birthday.

Another thing is that they're called the "1st Battalion" here, but British marine divisions simply had companies which weren't organised into battalions. No ship was allocated more than a company (they were allowed one marine per gun, plus an officer staff) so a battalion served no purpose. Sometimes temporary battalions were formed when several companies were serving on land together, but it wasn't a permanent establishment. There were three semi-permanent battalions formed in the Napoleonic era that wound up serving in the War of 1812, but they were quickly disbanded. In short, there may have been Marine battalions (there were two at Bunker Hill), but they was no "1st Battalion".

ok shoot me I was off by 2 years

The British should have armed every man with a drum, so that the Americans would have thought that the British were a massive Yankee tattoo of drums and fifes.

If you trying to think that every British drummer was wearing a red coats faced blue then your wrong. Only the Royal regiments aka the regiments that have royal blue facings had red coat faced blue. All the other regiments that were faced yellow, white, orange etc... were the opposite to. For example the 9th regiment of foot were faced yellow to the musicians coats we yellow faced red. also when it come to regiments like the 33rd foot they have redcoats and red facing so the musicians had white coats and red facings.

I received this information from a friend that's the go to guy for everything and anything that includes the Germanic unit that served in the war. So my knowledge is only as strong as the information he gives me. He also has been researching and manufacturing Germanic kits and uniforms from rev war for reenactors and museums ever since the 1960's so he knows a shit load of information and he hand makes Germanic miter caps as well.

I must nit-pick on 4 things on the British unit list

-The 16th Were Light Dragoons not Heavy Cavalry
-The 17th were Light Dragoons but they served with Tarleton and his cavalry unit in the southern campaign with Cornwallis but Tarleton was in command of his own horse regiment which was called the British Legion which was a Loyalist Cavalry unit.
-The 60th Royal American Regiment was a loyalist unit but a regular British Battalion unit and would not be classified as Light Infantry. I would suggest using the 40th Light Foot or the 2nd Battalion of Light Infantry or Cpt/Lt Fraser's Company of Select Marksman(armed with muskets) or butlers rangers(armed with muskets and rifles)
-The Marines were not royal unit 1804(if you are a royal unit you have blue facing the marines didn't have blue facings till after 1804)

Sorry for nit-picking but I had to correct these mistakes and provide the facts

These pictures were commissioned by the US Army, they're pretty close to the actual thing if not spot on.
yes but what year were they commissioned?
Because you would be surprised at how much information has been found since 1975

11
lolk

In all seriousness, if you guys need anymore info on the AWI I can probably figure it out. I already shot Tomo a site I found with literally all the uniforms a man could ever want, may as well post it here also.

http://www.srcalifornia.com/uniforms/uindex.htm

There is one problem with this. Most of these picture and research was made in the mid 1900's and since then a lot more updated information has been found. But it has mostly been discovered by the reenactment units that portray the units instead of historians. I would suggest to base your uniform on reenactors uniforms rather then artist renditions. But the only artist that I would say has it basically 90% correct is Don Troiani
