I just ordered my Habit Veste, it's going to be sewn by one of the guys in the 85eme, hes very good at it, I've seen his other creations.
Just the wool alone was 100 euro. I will see how much he will ask for making it.

After that the only thing i'm missing for my display is a greatcoat (Capote) but getting that thick grey wool is hard right now.
If anyone knows a source in europe for greatcoat wool then please tell me.

No, just one my dear.

http://www.robertlandhistoricshoes.com/servlet/StoreFront

best bang for your buck.

You dont want mainstream brogans, they tend to be crap. And there is Super high quality stuff that cost 300 or what.  Robert Land is the great middle ground. You get high quality brogan for $10 more than a mexican made brogan.

Dear god they look rigid.

Best thing about medieval boots is how soft the leather is, the sole is hard but the rest is flexible and pretty comfortable.
Means that I can go barefoot in them since my hose don't have feet on them.

Right now as far as my own gear is concerned I'm looking into getting a few metres of wool for a tunic, some better fitting braies and a linen arming cap. Once I've got that I'm going to look into getting my own helmet, looking at a secret rather than a kettle helm at the moment so I'm less constricted by it.

http://www.getdressedforbattle.co.uk/acatalog/Secret-1-by-ULFBERTH-.-H_ULF_HM_01.html#SID=24 Probably this. Though this site is only really good for armour and boots, their clothing is mostly cotton based and they do a lot of LARP stuff lately.
Crawling back to you,
Ever thought of calling when you've had a few? 'cause I always do.

Do bear in mind, Robert Land take a little bit while to make you a brogan. He is pretty popular. I mean I cant blame him. After all he is the only vendor in this market that is actually in the middle. So yeah, folks goes to him like crazy.  However if you do have a size in stock. Jump on it!

I bought a shoddy pair of brogans about 4-5 years ago and they've torn up my feet so damn bad, even with the insoles it makes them barely wearable. Without the insoles at the end of 150th Shiloh the ends of my big toes were numb for a month and a half. I've also had a shoelace dig into the tendon on the top of my foot/ankle so that sucked too.

If I have to recommend anything to anyone for any period of reenacting - it's that there are things that look good enough, things that are cheap for a reason (they suck), and there are things you shouldn't skimp on. The latter being your shoes/boots, your hat (and helmet if applicable), and your jacket.

Actually, speaking of things that are good enough, the black tie I use for German is actually a dress tie that I bought at the Marine Corps Exchange when I lived with my dad. The white collar binds I wore with my officer uniform were actually Marine collar binds that I cut to fit. Also, you can wear certain ACW shirts for WWI and WWII German. Same deal with the trouser braces.
Humans are extremely complicated creatures. Death uncomplicates them to a frightening degree...

That's true Landrik, my brogans are comfortable but I borrowed a jackboot and it was a living hell for my feet. I did not regain any feeling in my feet for 3 weeks. Thank god my lowboot is comfortable.

Thanks for the suggestion again Deo, I just ordered my Brogans from there. All the guys in my unit said he is one of the best sutlers for Brogans. Its coming from Canada, so hopefully shouldn't take to long to ship here. Now need to get socks :D
