Title: What is the regiment you most enjoyed being in?
Post by: Commissar Jdf on September 24, 2013, 10:15:14 pm
Since I am not going to be as persnickety as to say it is the regiment I created, I would say the 1stMEF due to the facts that it was extremely strict since we had ex-mil/current-mil.

Code
[b]Name of the regiment[/b]
[b]Why you thought it was/is the best[/b]

My regiment now, 3eVolt. I love it. Most fun I've had since I bought the game in late March early April. Wouldn't trade them for another regiment. Made friendships in this regiment that I doubt can be broken.

But I will never forget the 1stEPG...

Take it as you will, but saying one is the best and stating you enjoyed being in one are two very different topics. Hence why I changed the name from describing the best regiment you were in to the regiment that you most enjoyed being in.  ::) ::) ::) ::) ::)

I have only ever been in two regiments.

My first was the 6th Foot and we had a decent run with Hammorbird.

My second and current is the 57e d'infanterie.  This may be cheating because I helped to form this regiment, but it has by far been my favorite.  The majority of my men have known one another going on 2 years now and we have a blast.  We host line battles as Union Gaming (formerly NEC) and play many other games together as a team.  Many good times and hopefully many more to come.

Always looking for fresh blood, so come check us out =D

Name of the regiment 1st Colberg Infantry

Why you thought it was/is the best

Because it was the regiment that quite literally had... everything. The community was friendly, we had solid shooting and melee. We were one of the largest NA regiments at the time. Everything was great, it was the most fun I ever had in NW. I made a ton of friends from there who I still keep in touch with.

But, like many regiments, stuff started going bad. A bunch of COs and NCOs were fighting each-other about how to run the regiment. One side wanted laxer rules while the other wanted strict ones. The faction that wanted a more lax regiment broke off from the 1stCI, and formed the 10th Brandenburgishe Infantry (10thBI).

Bad blood continued to ensue, any member of the 10th was banned from the 1stCI TS by the SiC. Regiments started shooting each-other during LBs, friendships broke apart, it was just really... really sad. Finally the 1st went down, and from it the King's Prussian Rifles (KPR) was born lead by the old Ober Fieldwebel of the 1st. Now a days, a group from the old 1stCI retook the name and started her up again. But it isn't the same.

It was one of the best, if not the best regiment I've ever been in. Seems like all of the regiments I've liked end up disbanding. Diplex's 63e and his 33rd, the 15e, the 1stCI, the 60th (But now it's back so :D).

But my main goal now is helping the 44th be the best it can be.

The regiments I enjoyed being in was the I15, ran by Ahonen.

It was my first regiment, and I started out as a recruit.

I then recruited lots and lots of players, was very active, and was promoted to Colour Sergeant.
Then the I15 expanded, adding one cavalr dragoon company, and one line company.

I got promoted to Captain, and was given that second line company. Unfortunately, the company wasn't active and we didn't grow much at the time... But I ended up in being the officer who gave all the trainings. It was AWESOME.

In my opinion, unless you are leading your own regiment or aren't part of one, your current regiment should be your most enjoyable or you're doing something wrong.

I was under the assumation that the main goal of being in a regiment was to enjoy yourself, rather than becoming the best etc. If you had to forcefully leave a regiment then I wouldn't stay in another until I find one that rivals or is better than the last.

The question is asking what your most enjoyable regimental experience was ( 12th ). Regiments disband, people leave, that's just they way it goes and unfortunately, recreating your most enjoyable regiment can be very difficult/impossible.

The 8th King's Regiment of Foot.

Why you thought it was/is the best
Lot's of reasons, I'm still in it for a reason.

I joined back in August 2011, never looked back. I love the 8th, the members, the lb's, the fun, everything about it.

I'd have to say the 33rd from about August 2012 to May 2013, had a great time, especially under Tane, I made some great friends in the time I was there, however after that I stopped having as much fun and wasn't a fan of how the reg was being run. I love the 92nd and I've made a few friends in the few weeks I've been with them :D

Well, I've only been in 1 regiment since I started playing BG2 back in 2008. So I can only say The Royal Recruits. A few members can be a bit harsh at times, but once you understand the dynamics of the clan people usually stay for the long run. Like all the officers in The Royal Recruits have been in the clan for a minimum of 5-9 years. Usually nowadays, once a serious recruit joins, they usually hang around for a few years, so most of us are rather close. People probably hate the fact that we only promote if a spot opens up, so we usually have a few unhappy privates begging for promotions :( (The average wait time for a promotion within The Royal Recruits is about 1-2 years!! AA, though the fastest since I've been around was a member named Alpha back in BG2, I believe he got promoted from Private all the way up to Sgt within 12 months.)

If I had to choose another regiment, 1er under Herlev seemed like a nice bunch of lads, since we knew him quite well back in BG2 under his old clan. The 17th also seems like a nice bunch of people!

54th West Norfolk.
The regiment has a solid drive to become the best regiment in the game. We may not be there yet but it is getting there.
Also the people are simply different, all the other regiments are full of kids that still laugh at fart jokes. I found solace in the 54th.

Well they didn't ask me do i want to join or not. It's called conscription. Also i am not american so marines are not really anything special here in Finland. Sure they are tough but also harder to join into.
I served a year in armored brigade as self-propelled artillery driver. Nothing really glamorous but it was fun.

Would be a tough descision between the old 33rd and old 63e with Diplex. The 33rd for being my first regiment, was really fun, loved it a lot. The 63e was also fun, it was so interesting and I made a lot of friends there. It was saddening that they both ended up disbanding but I'm happy with what I was able to achieve. They turned me into a good player who actually knew what "ping" meant, (before I thought high numbers were good  :P).

So thanks Diplex, Deans, Speirs, Eoin, Jones, and all the other unique faces I met in the 33rd and 63e. Had some great memories there and wish I could relive them.  :'(

My favorite regiment to be in was probably the first 28th by Murphy. That was gold.

Only been in one regiment for 3 years, nuff said.

Though I have only been in there for 2 and a half years I have to say I have enjoyed being in there really much. Though I have to admit I was only in 2 other regs for a short term (maybe 1 or 2 weeks before that) but none of them could compete with the discipline, with the skill (commanding, melee, shooting), with the roleplay character in Linebattles, with the overwhelming victories we achieved and even with the bad moments (fights with other members, regimental splits) I made through in the 92nd. And of course with the attendance, out of 80 members usually 60 people there, I think no other regiment can say that from themselves.

Another thing is that you actually have to work your way up, you are rewarded with promotions if you put effort in the regiment, if you do something on your own. A sheme I highly advocate to other regiments aswell.

And when we are not in Linebattles the atmosphere is really relaxed and people can have a laugh or play other games together, it's a real community. :)

I can honestly say I am proud to be in the 92nd!

75e because it was something the french community had never seen, and we managed to grow up very quickly according to the rest of the others french regiments.

It was simply the best regiment I have been it, we ran during 5-6 months wich can be consider as very short period but what 5 months ! I think we just have been defeated by the 84e and the 91st :)

At the begining it was just an idea, and thanks to great people, it became (in my opinion ofc) the best french line regiment. Take a look at people who were in the 75e and who helped it a lot, they will all have a "Proud former or ex 75e" in their signature on FSE. The only thing wich was bad in my opinion was the fact we didn't manage to stay alive for a long time according to others regiment we have fought and I regret this.

* It was the best organisation I have seen in a regiment with the greatest french leader I have ever meet.

* We had two compagnies allowing us to face some Army Corps (with the help of the 14pk !) with an excelent coordination on the field.

* A very good level in 1vs1 (EnixBest1vs1LeaderFr).

* Some extremmly well dedicated people like Sinjide, Aexos, Baal-Hadad and some others I forget.

* And especially we were a very close family and not a regiment with 200+ players in their roster.

If you want to know more about the 75e, I suggest you to take a look at this youtube channel, most of our Lb was recorded by Aexos and you can still watch it ! :)

I've always been in the IVe, and I don't think I will left one day ^^ My first regiment in this Corps was the 5e Voltigeurs (skirmishers) where I had an impressive training on shooting.

However, I'm invited often in a lot of different regiments ! I enjoyed a lot 60th (with Jezza and Brotiz), 14pk (with patrykus and frankfurter), 15th (griff), 91st (with jackie and MacAron), 75e (atardet), and often 14e. AND K-KA BEST EU (pls pride put the gun down !)

These regiment are for me the perfect mix of extremely skilled players, fun atmosphere and good leaders. This is what the community make the best (from my point of view, uh)

+1.

Anyway. I've always been in the IVe Corps, and in its 7e Hussards. Today I had my two years in the regiment, and I'm still here ;D I just love everything in the 7e. The ambiance is great, we are a family always united together to slash the Brits (and the Poles :-*), we love what we do and we do it well. I've make several very good friends in the regiment, and I met some of them IRL, which I'm very happy of.
I hope but I'm sure we'll stay until the end, and even after, we'll still be together.
I remember, the first day I joined the IVe, I never thought it would be like that, and I never thought I would stay so long in it. But yeah, some things can change, and I'm always there :P

Vive le 7e Hussards, Vive le IVe Corps, et Vive l'Empereur !

Every regiment I have been in I have enjoyed at one point or another I can't pick just one so I shall list some if thats ok.

92nd I enjoyed because the lads were my first regiment I ever joined introducing me to the Napoleonic Wars and giving me my fascination for that era in history so thanks Donald and Sir Niven for that.

95th lead by Moogs, I enjoyed because they were skirmishers and after playing with them for a few months and having some good laughs I developed a love for the rifle over the musket :).

And lastly 2nd KGL lead by me :P which I enjoyed because it was more of a wee family than a regiment due to its low numbers :).

I agree your first reg does leave a Mark I joined the 15th first and they introduced me to the concept of line battles it was interesting as I had never been part of any gaming community before. And dispute the subsequent falling out the 15th and I had I can still remember some good times I had there.

Name of the regiment: 92nd Gordon Highlanders Regiment of Foot.
Why you thought it was/is the best:

The 92nd has to be the most mature regiment I have ever been in and seen. They almost never tolerate trolling, even though I do it most of the time (Sorry Donald D: ). Well disicplined, fun trainings (Like the time we had a Death Run event instead of training) and the fun 2nd company linebattles (Which I got to command sometimes in the cavalry :D )

They had lots of nice and cool guys like Nico and Hadhod, Jacob, Jammo, always a helpful bunch, ofcourse everyone hated me though because I was the largest troll :P.

Oh and a German ubergang.

I fought against them, they were pretty fun to have an LB with.

And I have said the I15 as favourite, but:

60th was pretty fun while I was there.
61st Regiment, pretty good.
AGI, will always have a special place in my heart.
32nd, It was fun while it lasted.

And, to be in, the 91st sounds like not at all a bad group to be in... Really a close group, it seems.

I knew Krittixx even before the KAG, taught him how to melee back in MM, too. I miss playing with Americans, I used to hate the European community. Now I really hate it ;)

Favorite Regiment- (Current) 12th East Suffolk

Why I prefer the 12th:
A) For one, I'm a competitive asshole and I like to win
B) The community and people that make up the reg. The identity and feeling of the regiment is great. I have friendships here that will last for a long time

I'd like to change my answer to the 34th Cumberland Regiment.

Mostly biased as I did create it, but... Some of the best times I've ever had have been there. Shame to see it end.

The 51st.

I joined in 2009 and have been loyal since.

I still recall spending almost every night on the US MM server with Puppy during my second year in Uni.
Or Stalker playing on his guitar on the ts and singing.
Playing PW with Harb always gets you into trouble, but that's pretty much why I'd play.
Spunned always making awesome graphics and new videos, the rap video deserves a special mention.
Or when Refleax had a night shift and we'd talk and game.
Rockhead and me, well, we shared certain interests...
Olafson, the only 51st member I've ever met face to face.
I had a great time with Blob, Afro and Olaf when we were cannoneers during some conquest event.
And Blob still runs ideas past me for mods or games.
Mark, Shit and me made a good group fighting team.
John who made a drawing of when we left BG2, I still have it.
Broske would call me on my phone when he was drunk (thank God I got a new number).
Smede and I would watch anime together, like Upotte!.
And actually all the 51st members with whom I've played

In the end it is the time you spend with your fellow members that makes a regiment great.
That and the in-jokes. Especially the in-jokes.

Well I've only ever been in one which is the 25th so I guess i'll have to say that, it's changed a lot since i first joined 6 months ago but it's still as fun as ever.

N'awwwwww Desert <3
