Other Games / Tannenberg -- New WWI FPS
« on: November 23, 2017, 02:33:48 am »

Tannenberg is the latest entry in the 1914-1918 WW1 Game Series that started with FPS Verdun, expanding the focus to encompass the Eastern Front. Warfare between the Russian Empire and the Central Powers offers a fresh experience for new and veteran players alike, with four new squads, 20+ weapons, four open maps that give players tactical freedom, and a whole new 64 player game mode with full AI bot support so you can experience epic battles at any time!

This historical game takes place across the lakes, forests, and snowy plains of the Eastern Front - it was inspired by the Battle of Tannenberg in 1914, one of the most iconic encirclement battles in history. Players will be able to master a range of entirely new equipment brought to the field by Russian ‘Frontovik’ and ‘Cossack’ squads, or join the Central Powers to serve in an Austro-Hungarian ‘K.u.K.’ squad or German ‘Infanterie’. Tannenberg offers a range of game modes - including the exciting new Maneuver game mode reflecting the different nature of war on the Eastern Front, as 64 players battle across large maps where the objectives and battle lines are always shifting. There is a wealth of historical detail including realistic WW1 weaponry, authentic uniforms, horrendous gore, and maps based on real battlefields, this time in the forests, plains and mountains of East Germany and Russia.

Tannenberg key features include:
Authentic WW1 atmosphere; accuracy in everything from maps and weaponry to uniforms
Tactical squad-based FPS; play as Russian, Austro-Hungarian and German troops
Majestic Eastern Front; large maps each with weather variants from snow to summer sun
64 player Maneuver game mode; capture strategic sectors in grand battles of movement
Never fight alone; AI bots for Maneuver so you can join epic battles at any time

WW1 on the Eastern Front
It’s all-out war on the Eastern Front! From artillery barrages and poison gas to the deadly heavy machine gun and hard-hitting rifle, there are many weapons to master. The battlefield is a dangerous place, and a little thought will help you stay alive – lead your shots, keep your eyes open, and be ready to engage in ferocious close combat at any moment.

Tannenberg’s Maneuver game mode captures the essence of warfare on the Eastern Front, with 64 players, large open maps, and the freedom to choose which sectors you will attack and defend. Just make sure you don’t get outflanked and encircled before you can do the same to your enemies!

Authentic World War 1 Setting
The 1914-1918 WW1 Game Series currently includes Tannenberg and Verdun (set on the Western Front). These authentic WW1 shooters let players choose from a range of squads from across the war, as they fight for control of the ever-changing frontlines.

The development team is aiming to recreate the atmosphere of the Eastern Front with the same level of accuracy as seen in Verdun. Extensive research has been conducted, with uniforms recreated to the tiniest detail and weapons modelled to exact references. The maps use realistic props and terrain layouts based on locations from the hilly forests of Galicia to a Polish village subjected to scorched earth tactics.

That's from the Steam page. Played it for a few hours and enjoyed the hell out of it. There are some hit box fixes and random bots in the server are annoying but it is very polished for early access.

All I can say is even though it's early access, it's one of the most polished games out of early access I've ever played. Created by the darthmod team, this game gives you the chance to start as a division commander work your way up through the ranks. No building railroads, recruiting spies or any of that extra shit. Just battles. Lots of battles. Ranging from the historic to minor engagements.

Right now, they only have the war up to the Battle of Antietam. The entire war is on it's way through updates.

I don't post here often anymore... but I can honestly say this might just be one of the best strategy games I've played in a very long time.

Welcome to the second weekly update from the NA Community Representative.

My primary goal is to create a dialog between myself, the moderation team, FSE and you as a community. To that end, I have begun the process of engaging regiment leaders and members at large on their thoughts and feelings about the current state of the community.

Tournaments

Signups continue for Dan’s tournament which can be found here:

https://www.fsegames.eu/forum/index.php?topic=31387.0

Lemon’s ramrod tournament was a great success as well. Congrats to skinny for pulling out the victory over Lithios.

NA1 Linebattle
Is still a wonderful event and some regiments have reported great success in picking up a few members from the event.

Forum Changes
I’m going to let Gokiller explain some changes to the forum in his update, but stay tuned for that. There are some changes coming down the pike.
Please check my signature for the best ways to contact me, as I am always willing to listen to any of you. Please allow one day for me to get back to you.

Welcome to the first weekly update from the NA Community Representative.

I want to thank Junedragon for the wonderful work he put into the position. Even though some of you didn’t see his work towards the end of the term, he was still a valuable member of the moderation team and he had input on a variety of decisions.

Tournaments

Many of you expressed the desire to hold a tournament again. To that end, Dan the Chef has begun a 2v2 tournament that can be found here: https://www.fsegames.eu/forum/index.php?topic=31387.0

It’s my hope to continue these tournaments into a monthly thing. Quite a few of you contacted me about branching it out beyond bayonets, even vary them into swords and 4v4 (cav) as well.

A poll is going up about this very topic above.

So lately I've been getting messages from friends on my steam list, saying "WTF Dude" with a picture attached or "Check this out". I'm assuming it's a virus, but has anyone else got this spam from friends. Kind of concerning if that's the case considering financial information is on steam as well...

Regiments / 2te Garde Grenadiers (NA)
« on: April 30, 2014, 04:03:51 am »

Flag of the Regiment
In 1806 there were as many as 27 grenadier battalions, in 1812-1815 only six.The grenadiers were men selected for their height and strength and were formed in 400-600 men strong battalions. In 1813 the grenadier battalions were distributed among infantry brigades in various army corps. For example at Leipzig two battalions were in Advance Guard, two in 1st Brigade, one in 3rd Brigade etc.

In 1814 four grenadier battalions were put together and formed one brigade under Hiller. It was probably the best infantry brigade the Prussians had in that year. The Prussian grenadiers were not a precious elite kept in reserves and out of harm's way. They participated in numerous combats, especially those units attached to the advance guard.

Two grenadier battalions participated in as many as 20-30 battles, the remaining four in 12-15 battles on average. In 1815 the two best battalions (see below) became part of the 1st Grenadier Regiment (1. Grenadier-Regiment-Kaiser-Alexander). The third battalion of this regiment fought in 15 battles.

Community / A Question for the Community
« on: April 19, 2014, 06:12:12 am »
This may just be me:

But do you find it annoying to see new versions of regiments that left behind certain legacies? Such as if the 92nd were to disband and another rose in it's place?

Or on the NA side the 3evolt disband, and a new one rises? 63e? 60th?

I created the 9y with a few others and I see the new version on NA1 all the time now. Quite frequently playing lancer, running into rocks, screaming in all chat about how pro they are as they hang a 1-4 on the leaderboards etc. And it's basically some kids using the tags to troll the server.

While some will call the original 9y trolls, we had a certain level of skill and it just makes me sad to see how the name has been dragged through the mud by these guys.

Before you post I know there is nothing I can do to stop it. I gave up the name, thus I gave up the rights. But it is slightly annoying. Call it a pet peeve more than anything.

Any suggestions? Time for a new mouse? It works great with every game except NW.
