The regiment traces its origins to the 17th century. In Holland in 1674 the government retained two regiments of English troops, two of Scots and one Irish. In 1685 when James II requested their services during the Duke of Monmouth's rebellion and organised them into two units, given the precedence as the 5th and 6th Regiments of Foot.
After Monmouth's defeat they returned to Holland, but when William III became king of England in 1688 they accompanied him, with their seniority being confirmed from 1685. The 6th were nicknamed "The Dutch Guards" by William. Service in Ireland followed and the regiment was present at the Battle of the Boyne in 1690 and Aughrim in 1691. Campaigning in Flanders 1692-1695 followed, with action at Steenkirk 1693 and the storming of Namur 1695 which was the 6th's first battle honour.
The 18th century
During the War of Spanish Succession the 6th were in Spain and Portugal fighting the armies of Spain and France. The regiment fought at Barcelona in 1706 and suffered heavy casualties at Almanza in 1707. In 1710 the 6th played a major part in the victory of Almenar and won undying fame at Saragossa and Brihuega. The regiment's next conflict was the Jacobite Rising of 1745. The 6th were sent to secure the highland forts between Inverness and Fort William.
Two companies were with the ill-fated army under General Sir John Cope at the battle of Prestonpans,
where they were among the few who stood their ground. The 6th also defended Fort William, beating off every attack as all the other highland forts surrendered.
The regiment went to Gibraltar in 1753 before moving on to the West Indies on garrison duty.
On the outbreak of the American War of Independence detachments from the 6th arrived in New York in 1776 and saw action, but were of insufficient strength and were sent home.
When, as an aid to recruiting, territorial links of infantry regiments were first established in 1782,
the 6th became the 1st Warwickshire Regiment, reflecting their recent connections with the county. During the French Revolutionary Wars in 1794 in the West Indies,
the 6th took part in the invasions of Martinique, Guadeloupe and St Lucia from the French and in Casdebar in August 1798 they gained a Battle Honour.
The Napoleonic Wars
The 1st Battalion went from Gibraltar to the Iberian Peninsula and were at Rolica and Vimeira in 1808. The battalion took part in the retreat to Corunna, losing 300 men during the march. The men were then shipped to UK before taking part in the Walcheren expedition before returning to the Peninsula in 1812. Present at Vittoha 1813 and heavily engaged at the later action at Roncesvalles. At the Heights of Echalar in August 1813 Wellington watched the regiment's attack against 6,000 French in rugged positions in the mountains and described it as "The most gallant and the finest thing he had ever witnessed". They were held in reserve at the Nive and were again heavily engaged at Orthes 1814. Once again, this so impressed the Duke that he subsequently scratched on the officers' mess silver snuff box, which since 1785 had borne the words "Seek Glory", the additional words "Huzza for the 6th Regiment Now Keep Glory".
The regiment sailed for Canada in early May 1814. Once there they gained the battle honour Niagara for their repulse of an American sortie into British territory.

The 6th Warwickshire Regiment of Foot is a well organised and active community regiment for Mount & Blade: Napoleonic Wars. We offer a kind and pleasurable environment for playewrs to play games in our current members are kind and give out a good playing atmosphere we demand no bullying or racism within the regiment if caught or if you are complained about this type of behaviour then questioning will go into effect and if you are caught with behaving in this way then a kick will follow , even tho we are a Mount and Blade: Napoleonic wars regiment we do play many different games and we offer clans to join so you can play with people you know from the 6th regiment of foot.
What we expect from members
The 6th regiment of foot attends many events of variation to keep people interested in playing the game, the 6th gets involved in events such as sieges, conquest, capture the flag, boat battles and 200 player linebattles.
During these events that we attend we expect players to be respectful of NCO / CO decisions and we expect players to have good teamwork and communications skills in the mist of battles. Within the 6th regiment of foot we don't depend on individual skill, we depend on good teamwork from the players within the regiment so we can use our training and communication and team effort to win the battle. Rules within the regiment / consequences
In the 6th Warwickshire Regiment of Foot we expect our members to follow the rules of the regiment and to keep these rules in mind and to never break them.
If any of these rules are broken a strike will be given out, it will take 1 week for each strike to be taken off, you can be given a maximum of 3 strikes and if you are on your third strike and you are given a 4th then you are automaticly kicked from the regiment.

The way strikes works is that if you break a rule (depending on the severity of the rule you have broken) you will be given 1 strike, and if you break another rule within a week another strike will be added on so you will have 2 strikes and so on. (only officers can give out strikes, an NCO can request one )
You can have up to 3 strikes until you are kicked from the regiment, some rules give out more strikes that others. If you gain 3 strikes then given an extra strike then you are automatically kicked from the regiment then and there.
You are able to claim for a strike to be taken off if you feel you did not deserve the strike given but if you are given a strike just accept it and behave then it will be taken off.
It takes 1 week for 1 strike to be taken off so for example if you have 2 strikes in 1 week 1 strike will be taken off so you will have only 1 strike left to be taken off.
Promotion opportunities
Even that we dont depend on individual skill, training , practice , dedication and the ability to lead as well as be led is what makes a personal stand-out from all the others, that does not mean people are not being watched and assessed for promotions or demotions . At any time you could be assessed to see if you are eligible to be promoted, even during casual gaming good social skills and being polite to everyone is a main asset of being considered to being promoted. If you are eager to be promoted then you must show the NCO / CO's that you are a dedicated, trustful, respectful, responsible member to the regiment and you must be kind to all members of the regiment. Recruiting members is always a big positive and will make you be highly considered to be promoted if you meet some of the other criteria |
