Thanks a lot for all your feedback.
I would be careful about deeming a certain era 'better' or 'worse' than another, especially if you didn't get the chance to play in some of the eras you are comparing yours too. Obviously, each of us has their preferences and that's completely normal but the aim of this project is to strive from the usual 'My stuff is better than yours' and simply look at the data for what they are worth. I understand that the essence of competitive communities lays essentially in comparing our e-peens and I welcome it in spite of the negativity it usually surrounds itself with but eventually, even the work you have right here hardly represent the 'full' picture. It aims at being the closest to it but you will never be able to judge a player's full performance in any given tournament if you don't have the PoV of every other player present that day. It's data, nothing less, nothing more. With time, I might try and delve into more 'opinionated' works but for now, I much prefer the neutral and comforting aspects of collecting these statistics and information, whilst leaving my opinion aside.
As for the single-elimination format, it used to make things simpler in the days (and arguably a tad less longer?) but I wouldn't argue it's more fun and I can guarantee you it wasn't more competitive. Groups before a single-elimination stage mean you involved seeding, seeding limit randomness which is inherently good for competitiveness. You could try it in a tournament and see for yourselves, it would bring a wave of fresh air but eventually after a couple of tournaments, I doubt many people would want to stick with it and make it 'the' main tournament format for groupfighting events.
Yeah Nick, I have already seen your list for NA it's pretty cool. Tib and I made something similar in a google sheet about one year and a half ago, we just never came around to properly put them into FSE tables until very recently. We'll be adding 2015 & 2016 pretty quickly as they are almost finished (courtesy of Kore mostly), I simply don't want to overload people with information, I want everyone to take the time to appreciate each year and delve into it, even if they didn't necessarily play in it. That way, those who are only interested in a specific era/year can always come back to check the advancement of the thread later on.
@Kore
You are more than welcome to continue working on 2019 like Kraz told me you were. Regardless, once we post 2015 and 2016, I will add you on the thread as an archivist, same with Kraz once we post 2017 & 2018, as the work you two put in that project certainly owe you a spot up there alongside Tib and I. Feel free to send me a good looking picture of you or your ingame arc through PMs whenever you feel like it.
