Well, quite frankly, if we make a video of their charge as an official ad (using beta-players or something) that will DEFINITELY get a lot of views and attention, also from ACW hubs. Could be well-worth it.

I find it rather funny when people describe the 54th's charge up the ramparts as a slaughter, especially the way it's depicted in Glory. 29 men were killed in the battle, more men (42 to be precise) died in their first engagement which was a small skirmish with Confederate troops in South Carolina. I don't consider 29 men to be heavy or even moderate casualties.

As well as 52 missing, which can easily be considered to be dead.

Deserting where to?

They weren't wounded, because they didn't show up in the lists as such. Nor as taken prisoner.

Fort Wagner, seems like not a bad idea.

Sorry if am wrong as my knowledge on this war is limited, but weren't blacks/former slaves executed when taken prisoner? If thats the case the 'missing' can quite easily be explained.

On another note, why not make a custom map for the N&S mod and play that while BCoF is still developing? If they haven't already that is.

told that bih don't @ me

There was a Fort/Battery Wagner map for an unrelased mod I worked on a while back, as some may already have seen. I don't have any screens of the map itself, but an image showing the fort model seems to have survived. The tower is not really accurate though, but the map itself was awesome. The Union troops were to charge across the sand dunes against the fort, in the background at sea there were gunboats and ironclads, providing not always accurate support fire for the attacking force. A waterfilled ditch with fraise/abatis, sharpened sticks was placed in front of the walls. Needless to say, this fort would be a tough position to capture! Here's an image of the fort model:

A cannon that would have been used by the fort's defenders:

Another gun, the rare Whitworth breechloader, intended to be used on the Gettysburg map, not sure if the real gun-carriage was painted in green or grey though:

The mod was pretty grim with bodies littered on the field..

Thats not even remotely close to how Fort Wagner looked like. This is a picture of a model that was WIP. I posted it in the Donators board a few months ago.

This is how it looked like. Kinda. It is wip, so yeah.

Yeah I know, forgot to add that it wasn't accurate! That model of yours is awesome btw, you should make some of the Petersburg forts too, like Ft Mahone or Ft Gregg, that would be awesome.
