Getting into WoW would also finically/emotionally bankrupt my entire family or something like that

WoW is nothing. For a real MMO experience, try this game called "Mount & Blade: Warband", I hear it's fun.

Agree, Bello Civili is the best Roman mod in my opinion. It's so much more superior compared to Rome At War for example. I mean, it has catapults and Ballistas. Also, Camels!
