Afaik William de Lancey was from New York, and he was a friend of Wellington and a senior member of the latters staff.

Oh wow im in Philadelphia right now, I know of a historical center in center city that has all these historical war records of people from Philly, maybe ill check there too for more info  :D

Philadelphia used to be a Swedish colony!

So everytime someone speaks of Philly' to me i always call it New Sweden, i am sure the Dutch do the same with NY.

No, don't even call it new sweden.. I know 0 Swedish people here and I've been here quite some time, and don't see any Swedish history portrayed in the city currently.  Call it Philadelphia, or them ghetto gangs will find you.

I'm pretty sure plenty of nationalities are to be found in a major conflicts. If it had not been for some political leaders, aid and Prehaps the states would have entered the war on either side.

That should be a bit obvious, given the Louisiana Purchase and the War of 1812. :P

The US and France had been at war a few years before the Purchase, actually.

Now, for the translation:

Spoiler
Upper row, 1st box:
Fox, Martinus

Upper row, 2nd box:
Father: Joannes (Fox)
Mother: Ysebella Brouck
Born in: Philadelphia, America
On: 11 (month) 1793
Last place of residence: Philadelphia
At his arrival at the Corp =battalion: 5 feet and 5 thumbs high = 170 cm. [/center]

Upper row, 3rd box:
This box was used to describe how the recruit in question looked. If you want, I can give you a full translation, but for now:
Eyes: Blue
Haircolour: Brown

Bottom row, 1st box:
Signed up voluntarily for the duration of 6 years on the 1st of May, 1814.

Bottom row, 2nd box:
This box was used to describe the recruits past military history (if he had any)
7 years in Portugal =In the Portuguese army
Made Prisoner of War of the French
Deserted from Prison

Bottom row, 3rd Box:
This box was used to write down his rank and possibly pro- or demotions
Korporaal, 11 month 1814
Sergeant, 12 August 1819

Bottom row, 4rd Box:
This box was used to describes his past campaigns and battles
All the campaigns in Portugal and Spain Which I assume means he was there from around 1806 until 1813 when he was taken prisoner
1815 in France =Quatre-bras, Waterloo, and the following advance into France

Bottom row, 5th Box
This box is to describe how he left the battalion and when
7th of May 1820 with Passport =Discharge simply because his 6-year term has passed.

Deserted from Prison
ROFL  ;D
At the time, I think it was seen as ungentlemanly to try and escape. I think I learned that from Horatio Hornblower...so...yeah.  :-[
it seems that the person on the wrong end of 5arge always seems to get the punishment.

But this was just a ranker. And an American, and we all know Americans have no sense of honour. Right?

I think that's called an escape.

Probably, but that's what they wrote down, litterally  ::)

Thou hast offended mine honour. Thus I challenge thee to a duel, sirrah.  >:(
