AEF (American Expeditionary Force)

What is the AEF?
AEF(American Expeditionary Force) is a minor mod re-skin of the British faction for the vanilla Warband Napoleonic Wars. It replaces the British faction with skins that depict the United States Army as it existed mostly around the years 1813 and 1814.

War of 1812, Total Conversion Mod
Some of the textures in this minor-mod package are the same US faction skins that are being used for the War of 1812 total conversion mod for Warband Napoleonic Wars currently available for download at the following link: https://www.fsegames.eu/forum/index.php?topic=4567.0

What units will the minor-mod include?
The AEF will include no militia or volunteer infantry since they claim that the terms of their service prohibit them from serving outside the United States. See below for a detailed list.

U.S. Armed Forces of the AEF (American Expeditionary Force)

Installation Instructions and Download Link

Step 1. Highly Recommended! Make a back-up copy of your vanilla Napoleonic Wars module.
Follow the Path "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\MountBlade Warband\Modules". Then copy and paste the folder named "Napoleonic Wars" in the Module folder. The copied module should now have a name like "Napoleonic Wars-Copy". I would recommend you rename it as "Napoleonic Wars UK" so you know that this is a copy of the Napoleonic Wars module that contains the British Faction as it is in the vanilla game.
Step 2. Download the US Faction Re-skin folder.
Download Link: http://www.mediafire.com/download/6sgby9u42azypiu/US+Faction+Re-skin.zip
The files will be in compressed .zip format.
Step 3. Installation
Once your download is complete extract the files. Open the folder US Faction Re-skin. Now open the folder labeled Textures. Copy the .dds files inside this Textures folder and paste them onto the corresponding Textures folder inside the "Napoleonic Wars" module with the above mentioned path. If prompted whether you want to replace a destination file with the same name, click yes. Do the same with the .brf files inside the Resource folder and the .wav files inside the Sounds folder. Now copy the factions, item_kinds1, strings, and troops .txt files and paste them directly onto the "Napoleonic Wars" module folder. Click yes to replacing the destination files with the same name. Installation complete. When you boot up the game the United Kingdom faction will now be the United States faction.

Impotant Note: When you would like to reinstall the British faction all you need to do is rename the module with the modified US files as "Napoleonic Wars US" and rename the module you copied earlier and named "Napoleonic Wars UK" as "Napoleonic Wars". Now when you restart the game it will recognize the vanilla version with the British faction as the standard module and the US faction will disappear. When switching back to the US faction do the reverse.

Since this is a re-skin only and the highland pipers can not be omitted from the game without changes in the module system, the US faction will have a highland unit with pipers and appropriate headgear although historically no such unit really existed. Stay tuned for updates on what it will look like. The re-skin is now in the play test phase and I should have a unit list and pictures for you next week at the latest.

Very nice, what will you do with the other Cavalry though? Going to use some Artistic licence?

I think I am going to leave them as is. Having hussars and household guard type cavalry in the US army seems too anti-republican.

That seems...weird, have some sort of volunteer light cavalry and heavy mercenary types at least. Just leaving the default British Cav would just seem just as odd.

Think of them as Irish rebels who have deserted from the British Army in order to serve with the AEF.

But they're also German... and English... also the Innskilling Dragoons would have never deserted.

Yes, the officers and color sargents will be included as well. As far as the three cavalry regiments that have not been redone, I will run these suggestions by you all.

Philadelphia Light Horse - replacing the KGL Hussars
7th New York Dragoons - replacing the Innskillings
US Cuirassiers?? - replacing the Blues

I'd drop the Cuirassiers from the title, simply call them The Washington Volunteer Heavy Dragoons or something.

The remaining 3 cavalry regiments have all been re-skinned and added. British faction re-skin is now complete. See first post in thread for pictures.
