Due to an event pile up we're probably not going abroad this year, which isn't a disaster since there isn't too much on this year, not sure where we'll go next year.

I've set up the 21eme Regiment de Ligne's YouTube channel, I have a lot of ideas for the future with it. Already put up several videos from previous campaigns seasons. A lot of the videos give a great insight into what it's like in our unit.

Very much depended on the individual officer pretty much, the French officer corps was very meritocratic, though slightly less so under the Empire.

Thank you so much! Time to finally learn that, and I'll have to learn le conscrit de 1810 at some point too! I'll add it to the OP! :D

Long time since I've added to this thread, think I might add more to the revolutionary songs and maybe a few others, but tonight I've added Le Depart de Bouglogne, a song of the empire which is underrated in my opinion!

Le Depart de Boulogne
Historical background: Probably composed after Napoleon's stunningly succesful campaign in 1805, the song is about the Grande Armee leaving Boulogne, where many corps had been encamped to prepare for an invasion of England, and marching East to fight the Austrians and Russians. The song is mentioned in the famous memoirs of Sergeant Bourgogne of the Russian campaign in 1812.

Lyrics:
Spoiler
Les Autrichiens disaient tous bas,
Les Français vont vite en besogne;
Prenons tandis qu'il n'y sont pas l'Alsace et la Bourgogne,
Ah! Tu t'en souviendra'larira,
Du depart de Boulogne. (x2)

De Paris le general mack,
Avait pris sans vergogne;

Et l'on retrouvera,larira, gne;
Le chemin de Boulogne. (x2)

One another note, could anyone hook me up with lyrics to 'On va leur percer le flanc!' that would have been sung during the empire. I've wanted to learn the song for years but there are so many alterations in terms of lyrics.
I'm also craving to learn a new song and it's either On va leur percer le flanc or another good song someone can recommend?
Otherwise I might just have to learn La Carmagnole and get a smack for being too revolutionary! (it'd be worth it though, that song is amazing) :D

God Ed Parker is a nob.

"If you're British it's almost a necessity."
"We ARE that army."
"The British army is the be all end all of Napoleonic reenactment."

Fucking bollocks.

Damn the speech of the prussian nearly made me join the silesian landwehr

Yeah it's great to have a Prussian unit in the UK, keeps things more interesting, just wish they had more members.

They portray aides-de-camp but they don't belong to a particular regiment, they come to events and carry the army commander's orders to different units during battles, the pair of them are both very good friends of the 21eme. One's called Malcolm from Malta and he's one of the coolest guys you can ever meet.
