The 146thNY_Official server is a quality North American based server. In all instances excluding the chance 146thNY will be training, this server is open on a 24/7 schedule.

Rules:

1. No teamkilling. Accidents will be spared, but frequent TK's, TKing and disconnecting, and so forth will result in a ban.
2. General trolling is prohibited. First offenses will be a warning, continuing will result in a ban.
3. Names deemed too inappropriate by the admins are not allowed. If it's hard to choose an appropriate name, we can suggest some after your unban request.
4. Spamming chat, making personal attacks, continuing arguments, insulting other players, and so forth will result in appropriate punishment.
5. Realize that few admins try their hardest to provide and manage the best experience for several people. Do not argue with admins.
6. Do not recruit. We aim to keep regiment advertisements to a minimum. 146thNY may recruit, but its members are to limit their messages.

What was happening when you were banned: I was playing artillery and accidentally killed three teammates in a shot. The admin gave me a warning but about half an hour later I accidentally killed a few more teammates with another shot. Then I was banned.

Why you should be unbanned: I didn't mean to teamkill either time, and I will begin using binoculars to help aim before shooting.

Union / 146th New York Volunteer Infantry Regiment - Garrard's Tigers [NA]

History

The 146th was organized in Rome, New York under the direction of the senatorial committee of the Nineteenth District and was mustered into service October 10, 1862. Early on, it had frequently been designated the "Fifth Oneida," but its original synonym was "Halleck Infantry," in honor of Major General Henry Wager Halleck, who was a native of Oneida County. The familiar title of "Garrard's Tigers," was a compliment to the stern discipline and soldierly enthusiasm of Col. Kenner Garrard, who had accepted the command of the 146th at the suggestion of General Halleck.

The regiment left for war on October 11th, and went into camp at Arlington Heights, Va. There, it was subjected to the most severe drill. Leaving Camp Seward on November 9th, it joined the Army of the Potomac at Warrenton the day after McClellan was relieved of command. In late November it went into camp near Falmouth, Va., and remained there until mid-December, when it broke camp and was engaged with the army at the battle of Fredericksburg. On the 15th the 146th recrossed the river to its old camp. It was then at the battle of Chancellorsville, May 1-3, 1863, and in the first day's fight suffered heavily; but the men acquitted themselves with honor. May 21, 1863, the regiment garrisoned Richards' Ford on the Rappahannock River.

On June 10th the start was made for Gettysburg. During the battle the 146th was in the brigade commanded by Brigadier General Weed. Here also it was that the 146th, with the 140th New York, and the 91st and 155th Pennsylvania regiments, charged up and obtained possession of  Little Round Top, the key to the position, and held it during the entire engagement. They were among the first troops to occupy Round Top Ridge, which they did on the afternoon of the 2nd of July. Hood's Division of Longstreet's Corps were just climbing the hill when the 146th reached the top and in a hand-to-hand encounter drove them back. It was then that General Weed, Colonel O'Rorke of the 146th New York, and Captain Hazlett, commanding the famous "Battery D," Fifth United States Artillery, were killed. "The charge of Crawford's men was in the valley, on the right of our position, and it was handsomely made. I would not detract from it in the least, but I claim that the brave deed of Weed's and Vincent's Brigades should have whatever of glory is attached to Round Top." General Lee said, in his official report, which was a real point of controversy.

The 146th shared the fortunes of the Army of the Potomac until the spring of 1864, when General Grant assumed command of the army, and the First and Fifth Corps were consolidated. The 146th was then in the Fifth Corps, First Brigade, Second Division., General Ayres commanding. On April 29th the army broke camp, and on May 4th it came within one mile of the Wilderness battlefield.

On the succeeding day the 146th went into the fray, and suffered almost total annihilation; numbering at the commencement some 600 muskets, they lost nearly 400 in killed, wounded and prisoners. Colonel David T. Jenkins, while commanding the regiment — than whom three braver or more meritorious officer never lived — was killed. He was accounted one of the best engineers in the Army of the Potomac. On that day also fell the gifted, courageous young officer, Lieutenant-Colonel Henry Hastings Curran. The command of the regiment devolved upon James G. Grindlay, who led it until the close of the war. From this time until the end, the 146th bore a conspicuous part in all the operations of the Army of the Potomac. In the final movement of the campaign of Grant, when Sheridan took the advance on the extreme left of Dinwiddie Court House, he came upon the enemy a few miles beyond, at Five Forks. Warren's Corps was at once sent to his relief. The 146th led the advance, and marched the entire night. They had then faught all day, and the corps had suffered a loss of 1,800 in killed and wounded. Yet with Warren as a leader, and without an hour's rest, they marched along and reported to Sheridan next morning.

Thus reinforced an advance was made, and the enemy was found strongly in-trenched at Five Forks. Warren was directed to move with his whole corps to the enemy's left flank, while the cavalry attacked in front. With his usual skill and promptitude he advanced on the strong position in three lines of battle, and sweeping steadily down carried everything before him. The 146th was in the first line, and pursued the enemy until darkness overtook them. It captured two battle flags, for which Medals of Honor were given. Warren's fame was secure in the hearts of his soldiers. The army and the nation had a common interest in the record and the life of such a soldier.

In 1863, the 146th adopted the Zouave uniform. It numbered in all, from first to last, 1,568 men, receiving additions from the old 5th New York (Duryea Zouaves), the 17th New York, the 53rd New York (D'Epeneuil Zouaves), and the 44th New York (Ellsworth Avengers), receiving at each time a body of splendid soldiers. The regiment was thrice complimented in general orders for distinguished gallantry: first at Laurel Hill, Va., where as two lines of battle in front broke, it stood firm, and repelled the attack; second, at Cold Harbor, where Mahone's Division burst on its lines, the brigade to which the 146th belonged, and thus saving the position; and third, at Hatcher's Run, where it held its ground at great odds until its ammunitions were entirely gone, when it was withdrawn a short distance, its cartridge boxes replenished, and the line again advanced to continue the fight.

Three stands of colors were possessed by the regiment. A banner given by the State was carried through several battles and afterwards deposited at Albany. Two United States colors, that gave good evidence of the service they have seen, were carried by the regiment, and at the close of the war turned over to the War Department.

The regiment was engaged in the following battles, which by order of the War Department they were entitled to inscribe upon their flag: Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville, Gettysburg, Rappahannock Station, Bristoe Station, Mine Run, Williamsport, Wapping Heights, Wilderness, Spotsylvania Court House, Laurel Hill, North Anna, Totopoto-moy, Cold Harbor, Petersburg, Weldon Railroad, Chappell House, Hatcher's Run, Poplar Springs Church, Hicksford, White Oak Road, Five Forks, and the Appomattox Court House.

Theatrical Music:

The 146th New York Infantry Regiment was organized at Rome, New York, as a three year regiment and mustered into Federal service on 10 October 1862.  It's nicknames were the "5th Oneida" and "Halleck Infantry".  The one that stuck was "Garrard's Tigers".  The next day, 11 October 1862, the regiment left the state for the Defenses of Washington being assigned to Casey's Division to November 1862 when it was re-assigned and began its service life with the 5th Army Corps of the Army of the Potomac.

The 146th New York Infantry Regiment joined the Army of the Potomac on 2 November 1862 at Snicker's Gap, Virginia.  The regiment was clad in standard Union army issue dark blue frock coat and sky blue trousers.  It would not be re-uniformed in Tirailleur light blue until June, 1863.  So, it looked and acted like any untested regiment.  It participated in the Rappahannock Campaign from November 1862 to June 1863 gaining experience in these engagements: Fredericksburg 12-15 December 1862, the "Mud March" 20-24 January 1863, and Chancellorsville 27 April to 6 May 1863..  In June 1863, the 146th was selected to be outfitted in Zouave-style uniforms choosing the colors of the French Armée d'Afrique Tirailleurs Algeriens regiments of light blue with yellow trim. 

On the second day of the battle of Gettysburg, Garrard's Tigers arrived on the field on the left flank of the Army of the Potomac in the vicinity of the Round Tops.  As each brigade was committed to this or that part of the battle, it came the turn of the 3rd Brigade, 2nd Division.  In addition to the 146th New York "Garrard's Tigers", the brigade consisted of the 140th New York, 91st Pennsylvania, and 155th Pennsylvania.  The 140th New York and 155th Pennsylvania would eventually be honored for their service and receive the right to wear Zouave uniforms, the 140th in early 1864 and the 155th in late 1863.  The 91st Pennsylvania was transferred out of the brigade in March of 1864.  Thus, the brigade became known as "the Zouave brigade".  For the remainder of 1863, the Army of the Potomac would exchange tactical movements with General Lee's Army of Northern Virginia and no significant actions occurred for the remainder of the year.

In early 1864, General U. S. Grant became the overall field commander of the Union army and the beginning of his offensive strategy for all theaters of war would be launched in the Spring.  General Meade still commanded the Army of the Potomac but Grant chose to accompany it.  For Garrard's Tigers, the campaign in the East began on 3 May 1864 in the Wilderness and would end on 15 June 1864 in front of the lines of Richmond and Petersburg.  At those places began a significantly large siege operation that would conclude with the break-through at Five Forks in April 1865 and end the war in the East at Appomattox Court House on 9 April 1865.

The regiment lost during service 7 officers and 126 enlisted men killed or mortally wounded and 2 officers and 179 enlisted men by disease for a total wartime loss of 314 men.
