I love the attention to details, especially on the British import knapsack - seen original photos of confederates wearing these and once they've removed the wooden box they tend to bulge out between the leather corners. Look forward to seeing more British kit being worked into the confederate models. One really eye catching one to do would be the pattern 42 cartridge pouch which they used during the Crimean war - its a huge monster of a cartridge box but in that way very distinct!

Are you entirely sure? They were in fact importing 1859/1860 pattern boxes, which are thick, but not that huge. I think you may be thinking about them but confusing dates with pattern 1842 US boxes. And yeah, P1860s are already done.

I'm sure the later pattern were smaller and more frequently imported so yeah your probably already on a better track! No the ones I was referring to are definitely British pattern, used them for the minie rifle through 54-55 in the Crimea and I've got one for my Crimean impression. Anyway I'm just stitch counting at this point; the details you've already gone to looks brilliant and no need to add in kit that would have been the exception and not the rule.

Well in this case I'm rather genuinely interested in this pattern. I'm no specialist in most of things between 1815 and 1861, but I've got a copy of this Pierre Turner's book on the british equipment, and for la nd troops it seems to be quite inclusive normally, yet for infantry cartridge boxes there is a huge gap between 1805 pattern and 1856 and later 1859 patterns. I sort of thought it to be reasonable since that's exactly what was happening with the canteen or mess tin for instance, but it's possible it misses another pattern out indeed.

Will flagbearers suffer skill- and speednerfs when fighting while carrying a flag? I'm sure they will, but to what extent? After all, these things are heavy and clumsy af as you, being reenactors, certainly know. Personally, I'm pretty sure I couldn't do anything except wobble about with that sword while carrying a flag as large as this one-handed. In my experience, I usually am all happy when keeping it up against the winds using both my arms :-[ ;D

To be honest, this won't be necessary, since you're already at a disadvantage as the huge color behind your back obstructs like half of your view, especially when the wind is strong.

Well, not much to say at this point, since we need to test certain things first, but we've got a concept of character customization ,it's being worked on and chances of success are quite high.

The trick is to switch to mellee mode while you're down, that's how you won't get pushed down anymore. Well, unless you got stabbed while being down.
Oh I didn’t even catch that there was a melee/shooting difference, I skimmed

There is, and it's quite important. The first time we tested it and before I figured I could switch mid-action I just got pushed down to death at the end  ^^

so theres going to be a company system similar to WoR?

Like Olafson said, we're not regulating the clan structure, instead we're trying to set up a proper chain of command and coordination ingame. In NW regiments were represented by one specific type of company per each ( 45-e represented by fusilier company, 85-e by grenadier company for instance). Here we will try to represent regiments with multiple companies, which should make sence given that the game is supposed to feature more players.Unfortunately, CW is different from NW in a way that all the companies within CW batallions were supposed to be of the same type (even designated skirmish companies didn't have any special insignia and equipment, though the latter statement may be speculative), but tactically we can still have fun with that division. The understanding is that the average NW regiment in line battle would be between 15 and 30 players, and we will try and put several of such regiments in a position where they would benefit from cooperating with each other more closely. The concept is quite fresh, we will pretty much deliver test regiments in that shape for the alpha test and see how it goes and will the community like it and such.

In case anyone of you guys notices weird hand rigging issues, we just noticed the same thing and are going to fix it soon... I have no idea how we did not notice this earlier.

Yeah, my personal apologies on this one. Something went wrong while transferring rigging.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but is that lieutenant not a second lieutenant? Will players be able to choose between a first or 2nd lieutenant, or is it random?

It's a second lieutenant, trust me. Also yes, that would be the original concept, but since for now implementing customization is not a top priority, we will feature a fixed list of pre-made units for each regiment for the alpha build. Doesn't mean 20th Maine won't have any first lieutenants on this stage, remember this blog only featured the company level of the regimental structure.

will there be tnt

Despite the fact that TNT was originally invented in 1860s, it's qualities as an explosive substance were not discovered untill 1890-s, thus no, we will not be featuring TNT. However, we may consider using historically appropriate alternatives, such as this one:

You guys are missing Zulu faction really much and a separate native american faction. If you ever think of Zulu though, make sure every player that spawns as zulu receives 10 bots for any game mode.
