Rank Structure
Major: Officer commanding
Captain: Officer commanding by proxy
Lieutenant: Senior subaltern, division commander
Second Lieutenant: Junior subaltern, division commander
Staff Serjeant: Senior non-commissioned officer, maintains discipline and assists in clerical duties.
Serjeant: Non-commissioned officer, maintains discipline and assists division commanding officer.
Corporal: Junior non-commissioned officer, commands individual gun crews in the absence of a subaltern.
Bombardier: Junior non-commissioned officer, leads artillery train and assists gunlayer in loading and firing the gun.
Gunner: Private soldier, aims and fires assigned gun if designated "gunlayer", otherwise assists in defending the gun.
