55th Westmorland Regiment of Foot Victories

🥇| RGT |11th Regimental Group fighting Tournament - 10v10 20th June 2021

History of the Regiment

The regiment embarked for North America for service in the French and Indian War and arrived in Nova Scotia on 8 July 1757 with the objective
of taking part in the abandoned attack on the Fortress of Louisbourg. Following the death of Colonel Perry, Lord George Augustus Viscount Howe was appointed
Colonel of the regiment in September 1757. After the regiment arrived in Albany, New York in November 1757, Howe accompanied Major Robert Rogers,
commander of His Majesty's Independent Companies of Rangers on a scout, to learn the art of "bush fighting." Howe's willingness to learn from the American
rangers and his interaction with subordinates won him the respect of both colonist and British redcoat being described as the "Idol of the army." In the spring of
1758, Howe began to train and accoutre the men in the regiment more like rangers to better adapt them to warfare in America. He was killed in a skirmish the
day before the Battle of Carillon in July 1758. After Howe's death John Prideaux was appointed commander of the regiment. In an unfortunate accident Prideaux
was killed by the blast of a cohorn while walking through the entrenchments during the Battle of Fort Niagara in July 1759. The regiment, as part of General Jeffery
Amherst's army, participated in the Battle of Ticonderoga and the capture of Fort Crown Point later that month. In 1760 Colonel James Adolphus Oughton took
command of the regiment and led it up the Saint Lawrence River: the regiment witnessed the Montreal Campaign between August to September 1760. William
Gansell became the colonel of the regiment in 1762. In summer 1763, volunteers from the regiment were sent to reinforce the British post at Fort Detroit, which
was under siege from neighbouring Native Americans led by Pontiac. The British force was ambushed and badly mauled en route at the Battle of Bloody Run in
July 1763. In 1764 many surviving members of the regiment were drafted into the 17th Regiment of Foot. Anne Grant, whose father was an officer in the
55th Regiment, wrote; "they were going to become part of a regiment of no repute; whom they themselves had held in the utmost contempt when they formerly
served together."

Napoleonic & Victorian Era

In 1793 the regiment embarked for Flanders for service in the French Revolutionary Wars and saw action at the Siege of Ypres in June 1794. It then moved to the West
Indies and took part in the attack on Martinique in February 1794, on Saint Lucia in April 1794 and on Guadeloupe later that month as well as the capture of Saint Lucia
in May 1796. It also helped suppress an insurrection by Caribs on Saint Vincent in June 1796. After returning to England in 1797 the regiment landed at Ostend in 1798
for service in the Anglo-Russian invasion of Holland. It saw action at the Battle of Bergen in September 1799 and the Battle of Alkmaar in October 1799. After returning
home in 1800 the regiment was deployed to the West Indies again in 1800 and went to the aid of Britain's new-found Spanish allies during the Spanish reconquest of
Santo Domingo in July 1809. The regiment returned home in 1812 and, having been sent to Holland in 1813, took part in the Siege of Bergen op Zoom in March 1814.
The regiment sailed for the Cape of Good Hope in 1819 and saw action in the Fifth Xhosa War. It also served in the Coorg War in 1834. In 1841 the regiment was deployed
to China for service in the First Opium War. It was selected as part of the expeditionary force that moved north from Hong Kong and participated in the Battle of Amoy in
August 1841. The regiment was the first to land when British forces disembarked from boats at the Capture of Chusan in October 1841. It landed on a beach and then
assaulted an enemy strong point called Guards Hill, where it ascended under heavy fire but eventually took the hill. It then proceeded to take the heights overlooking
Tinghai and then immediately descended and placed its regimental colours on the walls of the city. After the battle, a detachment of the 55th and 18th Regiment of Foot
were left to garrison the city. On 10 October 1841 the 55th again was part of the force that engaged Qing troops at the Battle of Chinhai: the regiment was left to garrison
the city after the battle and remained there for the remainder of the year. In 1842, the regiment saw action at Chapu in May, and Chinkiang in July. It then garrisoned
Chinkiang until the Treaty of Nanking was signed. Part of the regiment remained in Hong Kong after the war. For its service during the war it was allowed the addition of a
dragon badge superscribed "China" on its regimental colour. The regiment saw active service in Turkey and Russia during the Crimean War.

Deconstruction

Mount and blade is a series of skills that all form one overarching skill. Your ability to perform. In the regiment we train beginners to pros using
effective, but strategies. First we teach the fundamentals of blocking, chambering, blockchambering, footwork, force glancing, and holds.

Selection

Out of all the things you can learn to become the most effective player in the regiment you must have two things in mind.
Teamplay is the core and foundation of all we do. We live and die by our weakest player.

Sequencing

People never truly are taught warband they can only be encouraged and guided. However the path to becoming the best is laid out simply.
First master the game by practicing it in pieces rather than the whole system. Once you have joined the regiment the Leading officers will
give you suggestions on how to improve.

Stakes

We have the audacious goal of becoming the best EU. We will make a fundamental mark on the community and this regiment will create
many high level players in a short period of time. If this sounds like fun, join through adding any of our CO's and NCO's on steam.

Anthony's Disbanding Message:

Hunteh:1st member of regiment first follower, epic Canuk, and extremely dedicated with the regiment from start to finish

Smylie: Most critical early member of the regiment without which the 55th would not be the same. Due to smylie the other 2 key officers to join David Facuit with the 2eGren and Rayleigh with his 65y minions. Thank you smylie

Higen: Awesome meleer, super helpful and friendly guy who roped david into our regiment

Smallest: Great guy for the small time I knew him he paid for the server for a time

David Facuit:French, Charismatic, and in the brief time I led with him I learned so much being around this man you can feel his passion and drive for life. For me he embodies the best of the french spirt of beauty and culture.

Rayleigh: By far most critical member to join the 55th, no one else helped me more in running the regiment than ray, his friendship and willingness to work hard made him the obvious choice to lead the regiment after I left.

Quen: The only reason the French stayed, and an extremely effective and intelligent leader and meleer.

Krisitine: One of my most dedicatied students in melee, hungry to learn, extremely friendly and involved in the early days of the commuinty, and has a irreplaceable spot in my heart he is a great guy and I know he has a great future ahead of him.

Gassics: The best motivational speaker to grace the earth, has lowest ping in the game, and sometimes is kinda funny!

Hireaper: My number 1 fan, biggest simp, and the only person ive ever seen to have the same passion and drive to study and master the game other than myself. Hireaper will become a top EU comp player for certain.

James:The most English English person ive ever met besides blitzkrieg

Imperialfist:A true chad, showed me why ants are baller, and also became a favorite member and memer of the community.

Godfather:Saved me from financial ruin, Chad investor, and a genuinely great singer and music producer, 10/10 will visit if im ever in Portugal

Adamek: "Chop wood life good" Made me love Slovakia and frankly most people dont know just how Sigmamale this guy is <3

Donleon: Core member of community, spent plenty of time gaming with the boys, and was very endearing

Chemitiz: The most non turkish turkish person I ever met. Truly a great guy with a heart of GOLD

Turdler: Told me about the Devine right of kings, and showed me the truth of Anglicanism, besides that really kind dude for real

Lima: South American Chad, But I wish he was born in USA so he could become a top meleer in community. Super underrated dude and is a great conversationalist. Very inquisitive

Cody: Pain in my ass, but provided a great service for regiment while he was with 55th, developed a lot of people in 55th and built the foundation of our gren company Credit where Credit is due!

Zeyden: He is a great friend I have learned a tremendous amount from. His drive and focus are unmatched. He brought so much to the 55th whether that was his melee ability or his ability to attract other great players in the the regiment his contribution cannot be forgotten. After I left he and Ray had a lot of tension which is another conversation to be had but this post is to remember contributions of every person not to myself or ray but in service of what the 55th is and was

Blitzkrieg: Major Chav, supersimp, but to leave him out of this post would be a crime against humanity. Blitz you have a heart of Gold and dont let anyone tell you otherwise. You have made me realize flaws about myself but youve also pushed me to be a better human being. That is priceless thank you.

NNSITE, Chad and the first of all the Bulgarians

Boro Sigmale, kind, friendly, empathic, hardworking, and loyal

Ledoge funny, a memer, true community member, loved and respected by many OGs

Catjesuswarrior Friendly dude another great Bulgarian and I liked his name xD

Milton I enjoyed the time I spent training this man to block :)

Mech one of the best early meleers in the regiment, was a core memer in the community, frankly was the Hireaper before hireaper exist. Britbong in nature and chill dude mad props.

Skane great guy made forum page loved the game and is really endearing to be around.

Lulu LULU J'taime toi tu est moi bebe <3

Valentine et toi mais tu est tres mal

Hundar: One of the most loyal, considerate, thoughtful, and charming men on the planet.

CSS: Turkish, driven, honor bound, commands respect, Basically a Chad

Cake: Cake your amazing it was a awesome time having you in 55th never forget the 104th and 3te!

Hifi: By far not just my opinion but a man loved by many in the 55th core member of community, respected by all and truly it was an
honor being able to get to know you and the kind of character you have and care you have for others is unmatched.  ;D ;D

Stoiki: The only person after I stepped down I will put on this list. Mainly because Stoiki was always driven and interested in the history and story of the 55th like no one else I have met. If I had the option of reaching into the future and stealing one person from Ray's time in charge Stoiki is the one person id steal. 10/10 greekiod moment

Duvont great Frenchie clicked with so many people was beloved in the core community of members and was soft-spoken but always very insightful.

Marko DUDE Marko always pushed the boundaries but he was the only was he was truly masterful at being a troll in my time leading and was able to be likeable enough that I tolerated his memes. He had this uncanny ability to insult people and make them love him. A remarkable core member and memer of 55th.

Faris: Was in regiment too short, added a lot of the community when he was here he was hireapers best pal for the short time he was around. I wish him the best.

GongL: Russian memer came to like 2 events and yet still spent time to make meme videos about regiment that gave everyone a good laugh

HenriSavage: Been with me for so long AEF brother joined NA regiment as EU then joined me years later as a EU on EU. Never thought that would happen Henri xD. You are a great artist and I hope you are couniting to refine your skills.

Well NW was one heck of a time, ill always be connected to the community and I want to thank everyone who ever has taken apart in the 55th it was a great invasion of Europe by America. Donald Trump would be proud.
NA is better than EU the great debate is over
Peace
-Anthony

Rayleigh's Disbanding Message

So indeed the time has come to put an end to our adventure in the 55th "Westmoreland" Regiment of Foot. This is with sorrow in my heart and tears in my eyes that I'm, that we are disbanding and retiring this in my eyes Legend of a regiment, but also with relief and joy as it is undeniable that this was one heck of a ride, one to never forget.

On April 9th 2020 the 55th was indeed formed by our founder Anthony by an idea, a will, a longing. He was a bundle of energy and charisma able to drag others in and made from nothing something and even more. He laid the very foundation upon which all of us in the 55th continued to build after his early retirement. Quenouille and I took over the regiment, steaming down the path of NW focused on a mission in our own way with ups and downs as life goes and as every leader is different. Ultimately we reached part of this goal in the 11th Regimental Groupfighting Tournament on the 20th of June 2021. However, competition wasn't the only thing we took part in. Fun Mod events, Casual events, talk nights about whatever topic you can think about, watching videos and movies together, making Funny videos and educational videos all these things add up to what the 55th actually was. A Great community were laughs and joy resonating through our teamspeak.

Sadly the regiment came to an early end at November 9th 2021, due to going into a depression after some internal issues. Be as it may I will look back to these days as some of the most eventful and fun days in my gaming life. I signed up for it at the start when I first met Anthony and dam I did my best and I'm proud of what I, We achieved.

During my time in the 55th I learned tons of things be it ingame stuff, conversing, more personal or being a leader. Granted my run wasn't perfect but hell who wants it to be perfect, I'm happy with what I did, achieved and learned. A big bonus is that I met lots of new people, made tons of friends, endured pain and suffering with them but also enjoyed warmth and laughs during long nights and early mornings.

To every member that once upon a time served in the 55th, I thank you for your time and I thank you for your dedication and partaking in this community, in this adventure. These moments, adventures, memories will continue to be as vivid as they were on the day we made them when I think back.

As I'm slowly bringing my own journey in the NW scene to an end I'm not completely quitting yet, although I would love to, I'll stick around for a little while longer in a calmer sense.

It was worth every moment of my time! <3

<3 Hunteh / Quenouille / Anthony / and just all of you really <3

Sincerely

Rayleigh

Wow. Anthony forgets his previous password for the account which created the old thread and then decides to just repost the old thread. Chad move tbh.
