Depending on what calls you buy, it is pretty risky. You can lose everything with them, but also greatly multiply your gains. People turned 500 dollars into 100k on Friday for GME, but people also lost a SHITTON of money on a bunch of calls when sudden things develop a drop in the stock. If for example you bought calls before the Rona Crash, you were essentially fucked.

Depending on the due date of the call it becomes less risky, but there can still be unexpected things.
