The 91st Regiment of Foot (Argyllshire Highlanders)

Regimental History in the Napoleonic Wars

The 91st Highlanders were in the retreat that ended at the Battle of Corunna with Sir John Moore's Army in 1808. This was the beginning of the long Peninsular War. In 1809 the regiment was sent to the Kingdom of Holland on the less auspicious and ill-fated Walcheren Campaign. In 1812 the 91st were sent back to Spain to fight in the Peninsular War under Arthur Wellesley (later the Duke of Wellington). They fought at the Battles of Vittoria in June 1813, Sorauren in July, Nivelle in November and Bayonne in December. In 1814 the 91st were heavily involved in the fighting in Southern France that led to the Battle of Toulouse in April which finally saw the end of the Peninsular War.

After a brief period in Ireland the 91st were shipped off to Belgium in early 1815, where they were stationed when Napoleon escaped and raised his Army and headed toward the Allied armies in Flanders.

The 91st, under the command of Lieutenant Colonel Sir William Douglas, were based in Major General George Johnstone's 6th Brigade in Sir Charles Colville's 4th Division. They distinguished themselves at the battle of Quatre Bras and then did not fight at the Battle of Waterloo but were based at Halle guarding the right flank of Wellington's Army. On 25 June they were one of the columns that stormed the fortress town of Cambrai.

About the 91st
The 91st is made up of a currently small mixture of very seasoned and relatively new players to Napoleonic Wars. We are a semi-serious regiment seeking anyone who wants to be a part of a fun and accepting community, regardless of experience or status. If this sounds like something you would be interested in, feel free to contact me here or on my Steam. We are not affiliated with the old EU 91st and are a new upstart regiment.

Confederates / The 56th Georgia Infantry [NA] [Moved to NW]

The 56th Georgia Infantry
Volunteer Infantry, CSA

The 56th Infantry regiment was sometimes also referred to as the 55th. It was recruited in the late spring of 1862 and organized May 15, 1862. Crute reports that some of the men were from Chattahoochee and Dooly Counties.

In the spring of 1862 the regiment was sent to east Tennessee, where it served in Stevenson's division in the recapture of Cumberland Gap and the advance into Kentucky. In the fall of that year it was sent to Mississippi, sharing with other regiments of the division in the battles and privations of the campaign which ended with the surrender of Vicksburg. After being exchanged it participated in the battle of Missionary Ridge and the Atlanta and Tennessee campaigns of 1864. Here in the battles around Atlanta these men actually fought on their own farms against Sherman's hordes, only to see their farms decimated and their families scattered as Sherman's troops pillaged Marietta and Atlanta.

In the spring of 1865 part of the 56th was consolidated with the Thirty-fourth and Thirty-ninth under the name of the latter, and part with the Thirty-sixth and Forty-second as the Forty-second Georgia. It served in the campaign of the Carolinas, which closed with the surrender near Goldsboro.

Some of my top favorites are Foster the People, Kanye West, Walk the Moon, Wavves, Tyler the Creator, G-Eazy, Childish Gambino, Neutral Milk Hotel, The Wombats, Hands Like Houses, Vampire Weekend, & The Front Bottoms. I'm your average stereotypical hipster-esque asshole. At least I'm honest.

So far I've been making my own medals and ribbons for my TS3 server, but I can't do that sometimes. Do any of you have any icon packs for ribbons / medals? Preferably Civil War
