http://www.25thfoot.enjin.com/Welcome to the 25th Regiment of Foot! We are a melee-based British Line Infantry Regiment, that aim to provide a professional and enjoyable Napoleonic Wars experience for all of our members. We strive to give a fun experience through discipline, skill, and a strong community aspect to the Regiment. We are a well-disciplined Regiment, and trolling is not tolerated, however we do aim to achieve a light-hearted, friendly community where everyone feels welcome.
In the 25th, promotions are gained by loyalty and merit. In order to receive a promotion, a member must be active, loyal, and showing a commitment not only to the regiment, but also to improving their own personal skills. Showing great improvement in melee or shooting is a great indicator of commitment, and will be rewarded. If a member shows exceptional loyalty and leadership ability, they may be promoted to an NCO rank, where they will be expected to maintain order in the ranks, and be further taught tactics and receive leadership training.
Redcoats on the Battlefield
In the 25th, we follow a rank structure similar to the structure of most British Regiments from the period. The Commissioned Officers lead in linebattles, and are responsible for the day to day operation of the regiment. The NCOs are in charge of discipline and training, and will receive training in leadership skills. Enlisted men are the backbone of the regiment, who fight for King and Country! All new members will join as Recruits, and will steadily progress through the ranks if they show skill and loyalty to the Regiment.

In Training and Events, you should always obey the commands of a superior, and not question their orders. This is ensures the smooth running of the Regiment. If you have any concerns, or ideas, about certain tactics or maneuvers used, then do take them up with an officer after the event, but not during them! You should always respect your superiors, but also your inferiors - remember that this is only a game and everyone should be respected!
The 25th King's Own Borderers was raised on 18 March 1689 by the Earl of Leven to defend Edinburgh against the Jacobite forces of James II. It is said that 800 men were recruited within the space of two hours. The Regiment's first action was at the Battle of Killiecrankie on 27 July of the same year. Although this battle was a defeat for the Williamite army, the Jacobite commander, Viscount Dundee (Bonnie Dundee), was killed by a volley fired by Leven's Regiment, bringing an end to James II's attempt to save his throne.
The Regiment was judged to have performed well and was granted the privilege of recruiting by beat of drum in the City of Edinburgh without prior permission of the provost. At the beginning of the Napoleonic Wars, up until 1805, the Regiment's recruiting area was Sussex, but this was changed to the Scottish Borders region. From then, it was known as the King's Own Borderers.
Good attendance is an important aspect of the Regiment. In the 25th, we expect you to attend as many Events and Trainings as you can. If you cannot attend for any reason, you are expected to post an excuse on the website. If you can attend an event, you are required to sign up on the website, so that we have an idea of numbers.
