I could imagine this system, but,

I found something that said "Troopers" were called "Dragoons" because that is what they were,

Lance Corporal and Corporal, are they not the same as the later British light dragoon ranks during the Napoléonic Wars;
Lance Corporal of Horse, and Corporal of Horse, Staff Corporal of Horse? I think at least one of these is fictional,

And I also believe there were no Serjeants or Staff Serjeants. Not sure, though. :S

I'm pretty sure it's Corporal of horse or something.

Only the Household Cavalry uses the Corporal of Horse rank. 'Line' cavalry regiments use the same ranks as the infantry.

As Numitor said Lance Corporal of Horse etc are used by the Household Calvary and are more modern then most people would think.

If a "Trooper" was called "Dragoon" then their is your lowest enlist rank.

Lance Corporal and Corporal were different. Serjeant and Staff Serjeant also both existed. Staff Serjeant had four chevrons and had two variants. Four Chevrons was troop level and four chevrons and a crown was squadron level. You wanted rank for this period. I'm sure I do not have to remind you that this is 1775-1783 we're talking about and not 1803-1815 where there had obviously been changes in the structure in the British Army.

Of course. I was just curious, and wondering about the real ones. So a discussion always helps - to get lots of facts from everywhere. I do know the difference between the time periods, but I'm not so good with the British rank structure; only the Prussian, Austrian and French ones.

Anyway, this would sort stuff out, so a big thanks to Numy and of course Bravescot!

Will edit the main post with the rank structure. :)

Until 1961, lance corporal was only an appointment rather than a rank, given to privates who were acting NCOs, and could be taken away by the soldier's commanding officer (whereas a full corporal could only be demoted by court martial)[citation needed]. TheRoyal Engineers and Army Ordnance Corpsalso used the similar rank of second corporal, which was a substantive rank (also wearing one chevron), until 1920. Until 1920,bombardiers in the Royal Artillery were equivalent to second corporals and acting bombardiers were equivalent to lance corporals

Has any checked about Lance corporal  not being a rank?

You only refer to the engineer and artillery units in there. Don't see any infantry facts. But yah, LCpl was more an appointment than a rank, like BrgF. Feel free to find more proof for your statements and correct the current list, though. :)
