Map for the next month of campaign

April 1812

In the third month of the Campaign the Allies went on the offensive with a surprise escalade against the French occupied city of Badajoz(9); initial attacks against the castle failed but another escalade to the south saw little opposition and british troops swarmed over the undefended wall and into the courtyard, taking the city within minutes. Following this bold stroke the allies pressed on and took a vital crossing across the Alamaraz(14) river. Their onslaught however was eventually halted by the French before reaching Madrid(15).

Sporadic counter-attacks to the north and south were attempted by both sides, with a fresh attack by the French at Leon(30), alongside actions in already war-torn Tuleda(33) and Murcia(18). Respective defenders of these territories however all held their ground.

No media for this event as yet that I've seen :(

May 1812

In the fourth month of the Campaign all action was focused to the north of the Peninsular, with France ambushing Allied forces encamped at Lugo(29). The Allies pushed the French back, hitting home with a counter-attack to pursue the fleeing French back into Villa Real(25) - somehow the broken French were able to hold the territory by the narrowest of margins.

French troops also commenced a daring offensive to cut-off Allied territory near the border with France and although they were successful in capturing Vitoria(32), they were unable to prevent a further Allied push towards France at Huesca(37). Finally French troops attempted another offensive at Lugo(29) but were soundly defeated.

Map for the next month of Campaign

June 1812

The fifth month of the Campaign was opened with a strike towards the isolate Allies in the north towards Pontevedra(22), attempting an ambush in one of the mountain passes - this however backfired as the French troops responded quickly to the thread and pushed the Allies back. France in the retaliation launched offensives against these isolated bases of resistance to the north at Leon(30) and Tuleda(33), both however were soundly repulsed.

Having earned a little breathing space the Allied troops to the north subsequently used this opportunity to launch a multitude of offensives to secure their position, capturing Western Catalonia(36) and with the help of Spanish civilians gained entrance to Zaragoza(34) and captured its citadel. Less successful offensives were barely repelled by French garrisons in Madrid((15) and San Sebastian(38).

Map for the next month of Campaign

July 1812

The sixth month of the Campaign begun with an unexpected invasion of Portugal by French troops to the west and north, capturing the city of Oporto(26) but failing to secure ground in Lugo(29). The Allies retaliated with a counter-offensive in the north to take Villa Real(25) and a fresh attack from the south, securing territory in both Requena(18) and Murcia(20).

Finally the Allied troops in the north-east attempted a siege of Burgos(31) to secure their position and though they succeeded in destroying the outer walls with mines, they were unable to capture the citadel. The French desperately retaliated in a last ditch attempt to capture the city of Zaragoza(34) but were unable to secure the castle within the city walls.
