Moustache? Dafuq Duuring? where did you get that? facial hair is considered as a godly thing to have in this period. Reenactors love it when men grow facial hair! And 1st VA Cavalry did wear uniform. Look 'em up. Cavalry do have uniforms Duuring, the offical one in the army roll. The civillians you speak of are guerillas, not offically in the army roll. They were considered as war criminal to the union eye and which mean death penalty period. There is a difference between Guerrilas/Rangers/partsian cavalry and "Army" cavalry. Duuring, I am seeing like 6-7 guys in civvies drabs, and 20 guys in shell jacket and forage/farmer hat. A typical uniform of Confederate army.

On the point of the picture, those forage caps could easily be looted.

I remember reading a lovely FB discussion about wheter the Rebs did or did not loot dead Federals for their trousers.
Sadly, this photograph isn't that great in detail quality, so we really can't tell where the forage caps came from. Sounds a bit unlikely that they would wear a stolen blue one, two years into the war.

I would also get yourself involved in the Australian Airsoft Council, they support reenactors to use airsoft which would be alot more fun than blanks. If you are in NSW, Victoria or the ACT you would need an imitation firearms permit. If you live in WA, SA or QLD you dont need a licence to acquire imitation firearms.

Godson, most stuff there is solid for a barebones impression if you're trying to get it all at once in a hurry for cheap. Quite a bit of the items you're picking up are "10 foot rule" good but you're paying cheap for stuff that will possibly have buttons pop off or stitching getting torn. So you may want to be handy with needle and thread or pay the extra dosh for your items.
Your uniform and field cap... STAY AWAY FROM HBT! Save yourself the trouble and go ahead and grab wool. You'll curse the wool when you're sweating through it in summer, but praising it when you're cold as balls in the winter - when most events are! Get HBTs second and only good repros. Not the monstrosities in your wishlist. I recommend getting your cap and wool uniform from Hessen if you can afford it. It's still chinese shit, but it's the best chinese shit. HBTs were not immensely as common as the wool uniforms and you'll look sharper anyways!
Also, on the topic of your boots... those Swedish boots are just as bad as wearing a pair of black mountain boots. I recommend shelling the money on a proper pair of boots that will cost you a lot! Stay away from rubber soles. You want hobnails. SM Wholesale has some in stock right now for over $200, but At the Front (www.atthefront.com) should be getting $150 low boots sometime in stock before Christmas, so buy there! I certainly will.
With wearing Y-straps you don't really need tunic hooks. Those are only absolutely necessary for early war when they didn't have Y-straps for the regular infantry.
I see you placed the nice quality German socks on your Hessen wishlist. If you're trying to be economical (I'm more than certain you're trying to be) I suggest you buy their foot wraps instead of the socks. Go ahead and get 2-3 pair of foot wraps so you'll always have something to change into in case you get rained out or you don't want your feet freezing at night.
Speaking of getting rained out, you will want to get a waterproofed zeltbahn (shelter-quarter) to be able to wear as a poncho and use as a lean-to in case it rains. I've seen some farby reenactors at some events I've been to where they are wearing just HBTs with no zeltbahns as ponchos and almost get hypothermia. They ended up leaving the event early because they had nothing to change into and were feeling sick.
If you're able to, try talking with your Ausreenact group about buying items from them which you may get for MUCH cheaper!

Not really. I've got family that were in the war and if I were to start re-enacting the Germans, I'd felt pretty awkward to them. Well, that's an understatement - I couldn't even look them in the eyes without feeling guilty.

WW2 is also not that big in Western Europa, just not worth the money. Were I to start re-enacting it (If I could pick, probably do Polish in Exile or Dutch "Englandvaarders"), I'd like to have some real events, such as tacticals. Not 30 men demos. Bleh.

Biggest reason I suggested you get the wool uniform and cap from Hessen instead of Hiki is that when you get your uniform, you'll not only have to buy insignia for it, but sew it on yourself. For only $20 more for your tunic, you can have it all sewn on correctly and with proper insignia. It's well worth the cost in my opinion. Also the uniform will be more durable and last longer than the Hiki uniform. You can always buy these things in batches instead of all at once. But I can't stress how much I recommend buying wool uniforms from Hessen if you want something good and cheap.
...or, you know, you could shell out $400 for a god tier tunic from the UK. :P
Also, get 3 pair of foot wraps instead of one. You can always wear modern socks underneath, and the footwraps will eliminate any extra space in your boots so you'll be warmer and won't be so prone to blisters.

The Wachtbattalion boots are rubber soled, so you know. It's not an ultimate sin, but eventually down the line you should look into getting proper boots with hobnails and such.

The Sturmgepäck they're selling is pretty solid. You can really thrash around with it because it's all repro. ;) You attach it by the two upper hooks onto the rings on your Y-straps and the lower two hooks connect with those extra rings hanging from the front of your Y-straps. Neither do I. But my family lived in the Dutch East-indies at the time. And the other parts in the Netherlands, which was rather involved in WW2. My grandmother remembers the German soldiers running trough her families backyard to escape the Allies.
Nope, Re-enacting the Germans in WW2 is just not an option for me. Luckily, I don't have that much interest in it anyway.

So, I was just officially accepted into the 2.SS-Das Reich Division, 3.SS-Panzergrenadier-Regiment, 9. Kompanie "Deutschland." I already put a security deposit down on my first purchase of low-boots (http://www.lederarsenal.com/en/pages/bakery/low-boots-of-the-wehrmacht-199.php) from lederarsenal.com and have been told it can be four to five months before my boots will even be started. Because I have a huge fucking foot, and I needed special plating and irons in my boot, fucking shit is going to cost me about $386 in the end, security deposit included. Maybe, just maybe, I am making a mistake by starting off reenacting geting the best of the best gear I can find, and SS gear is already expensive even for economy gear I see. But, I truly do believe it's worth it.

As for Lebel Rifle, since its antique, id hit up the Antique shop or browse online. You wont find that rifle in a average gun shop unless your lucky. (I had no luck searching for 1861 Springfield) had to avert to Online.

Did you buy that LB M43 tunic? D: If you did, it'll be too small in the arms. I recommend if you want to buy quality tunic, get a Texled M43 from ATF.

Anyways, I recommend buying something else other than a LB M43 tunic. They do a lot of their cuts really well, but by default the arms are too short. I recommend getting any ol' tunic and then tailoring it if you want to look sharp.

I wasn't always like this. Around the time I turned 15, I started gaining weight. Prior to that, I used to be very skinny and athletic. To this day, neither the doctors or I know what caused this... its unfortunate, but I do take ofense when someone tells me "lose [more] weight." Like, who the fuck are you to say something like that, regardles if it was in jest or not. I have struggled with weight noow for over five years, and I am very self conscious about it.

Yeah. I find their history quite interesting. They weren't heroes, nor elite, they were just survivors. The rebellion was brutal and bloody, and still quite a lot of the men got sent to the gulags.
I mean, these guys were fucked by the Nazis, the Commies and the Western allies. They wére the underdog. Just...perfect. Zaaaaac...do you have a uniform picture?

Why is it so difficult to find WW1 French mess kits, canteens and boots?
Boots are certainly the easiest, there are some repros, but quite expensive. Canteens are impossible to find, unless you want a rusty leaking one, and Mess kits are all originals, which is not really what I am looking for. They are also pretty expensive...
my trousers are too small. Last event (the day at the racecours) it just exploded (the seam at the ass tore). Luckily that happened before the first tourists were coming so I could sew it makeshifty.I keep losing the back brace buttons off of my trousers... absolute pain in the arse! it's not like they're tight or anything! Ive lost weight, and my trousers have always been a bit loose, but that damn back button keeps falling off!
