- The NW Cavalry international competition returns for a third edition -

Hello to all the Cavalry Community of Napoleonic Wars, and welcome to the thread of the official 2016 edition of the Cavalry Nations Cup !
This tournament, aims to regroup all the members of the Cavalry Community, in order to make every nation face each other in epic cavalry battles.
This Tournament will have its specific rules and organization, and I highly hope it will be able to bring as many nations as it can, in order to fight in good conditions, with good sportsmanship, and with the little touch of regional pride that always motivates everyone to give their best !

The competition knew two previous editions. In 2014, Poland's heavy cavalry team was crowned champion of the Cavalry Nations Cup. In 2015, France took the lead by beating the Germanic Countries in the final.
Now is the time for all nations to arm and prepare themselves again, and to show that they are ready to give their very best in order to claim the champion title of international cavalry.

So gentlemen, which nation will bring the best riders ? Who will triumph and who will fall ? Up to you to write the story !

The Napoleonic Wars Cavalry Nations Cup will begin on the 14th of March

"Cavalry is useful before, during, and after the battle. Without Cavalry, battles are without result."

1. Teams will only be composed of players who have the nationality of their team's country/countries.
2. Teams will be composed of 12 players minimum, 24 players maximum.
3. Teams containing coalitions between countries will only be allowed by the organizers, on the condition that this is the only way
for these countries to play due to low numbers.
4. Matches will be allowed to be played with either 8, 10 or 12 players maximum. Captains will decide it when they set their matches up.
If both Captains can't agree on a maximum number of players, I will be the one who decides.
5. If a team doesn't bring enough players, they will play with what they have, but the team they face will still be allowed to have the
decided maximum number of men fighting.
6. Teams will have to pick one unit between the following: Hussar, Cuirassier, Dragoon, and will have to stick to it throughout the competition.
7. Matches will be 'first to 8'.
8. To win a round, a team has to kill everyone in the enemy team.
9. Picking enemy weapons and horses is allowed, like in a standard 1v1 regimental cavalry fight.
10. Behave ! Do not tea-bag, and keep the global chat to a minimum.
11. Listen to the admins and what they say.
12. Matches' organization will be up to the Captains of the teams which have to face each other every week. They have to post a date and hour,
and then I will give a referee and server to this match.
13. One officer (the Team Captain or the Vice Captain if the Captain isn't there) per team may be on the field, to lead his men.
14. Shooting is strictly forbidden. If an officer or a ranker is caught firing his pistol, referees will reset the round, and the team
of the guilty man will loose one point.

Signing up as a player will make your name and steam profile link appear in the list of players looking for a team, which will appear in the third post of this thread. This is made to help the captains who might be needing more men to form their team.
However, if a Captain decides to organize selections to form his team up, he will have to call all the players from his country who applied on this thread, and let them have a chance to participate to those selections. If a player who applied and whos name is on the list of players looking for a team is not called by his country's captain for the selections, then the captain will be guilty and sanctions might be taken against him.

A few words to finish...

Regarding the expected teams this year.

Last year's Cavalry Nations Cup gathered 8 teams: Spain, France, Italy, Great Britain, The Germanic Countries, Turkey, Scandinavia, and Benelux.
This year, after speaking to pretty much every nations' representative I could, I'm going to be aiming at 10 to 11 teams. Poland will hopefully come back, and there should be a Russian speaking team and a Czech team, which would be entirely new to the competition.
However nothing is certain yet, and we will know more about it all within the few weeks to come.

Regarding the groups

Last year's groups organization was a good idea, I am and will remain convinced of that fact. It made the tournament's group stage more intense and interesting, without fucking the final stage up at all, they were still great to watch, and the nations in the final four all deserved it.
However, some players seem to have disliked it, that's why I will most likely set up groups like during the 2014 edition, putting 'big nations' in both groups, as equally as possible.

Finally, regarding the way I will organize this 2016 Cavalry Nations Cup.

This event will most likely be the last big thing I organize on my own in this community. And as much as I want it to be a great success in the Cavalry community, I also won't let it become a burden to me, and a pain in the ass to organize.
This means that, if you have any complaint or anything you'd like to discuss with me, I'll be more than happy to hear what you have to say and give you an answer. As long as your request is done politely, without any insult or anything that could start an argument on FSE. Any personal conflict will be dealt with on private, via private fse messages, steam or whatever you like. I will not tolerate anyone trying to bring heat on this thread and turning it into a massive post-fest that would make no sense and lead nowhere.
If a player, a captain, or anyone else tries to act this way, his posts, no matter the time he spent writting them, will be deleted from the thread, and he will be banned from the event, plain and simple.
I want this event to be fun for all who participate, and that includes me as an organizer. So I trust you all to use your brains and act as you're supposed to, making the event a fun place to be for everyone, including yourselves.

Why you should be Captain (a long answer would be better): I've been in this community already for a decent amount of time. However I would like to discover some new challenges, thus I apply to lead the german team in this years Cavalry Nation Cup. Due to my experience as an Officer in the 11e and other places i've been in I am already familiar with the concept of leading a cavalry match - leave alone 3 years of experience I gained from many cavalry battles and tournaments. This will help me accomplish the long awaited victory for the german team. Also I've been participating in the past Nation Cups where I've discovered some flaws I would like to improve this year. I would be honoured leading the german team and I will do my best to lead it to victory.

I have been the Captain of last years's Italian team and I think I did a great job bringing together not only the best members of the Italian community but also players from Switzerland. It was a very nice experience and I believe we had a very harmonious team despite being made with players from very different backgrounds. I have experience leading men having been Lieutenant of Xa Lupi and I have both the determination and time to make the best Italian team possible and lead it with dedication and passion till the very last match!

A question to the Organiser: will it be possible for nations without a team (eg: Switzerland) to join neighboring countries like last year?
