Unfortunately, rap is by far the most popular genre in the US, or at least in Florida. Won't go anywhere without hearing it, every store, every restaraunt, every red light. It is ridiculous.
On a more serious note though, I am pretty open minded about the actual music I listen to. I often find myself listening to epic orchestral such as Rejenorst, sometimes some calming classical, when I am writing, doing work, or reading (It helps with immersion and retention, believe it or not). When I want to get energetic or motivated and creative, I listen to Trap or some heavy dubstep (not Skrillex esque squeaking) and many times some Moombahcore. I'm also starting to get into hardstyle. Sometimes I just want to blast some music just cause though, and usually my choice for that is Vader, an excellent death metal band.
