Historical Discussion / Family Thread
« on: January 28, 2016, 04:48:02 pm »
I am pretty sure a thread was made before, but I can't find it, so heres another one.

I found out about my great grandfather today. He was born in 1890s and was left on the steps of a church, abandoned by his real parents. He was orphaned by a large family, and was named Francis Melody. In 14 he joined the mines and in 17 he joined the WW1 under-age. I don't know much about him in the WW1, he didn't talk about it. After the war, he joined the Territorial Army to gain money and make a life for himself. He married and had kids and in 1939, he was called down to the TA Station and never returned. 3 weeks later, it turned out that he was in France. He was part of the BEF. He was at Dunkirk and he had to knock the soldiers unconscious to get them onto the beaches. While in France, he went into a pub with some other soldiers. He left and then German trucks rolled up and shot everyone else who was left in the pub. During the war, he was shot in the back and in the fingers, so two of his fingers were moulded off. When he returned from the war, he never talked about it, and then he had a heart attack when he was 65.

So yeah, share your stories!

Who's Your Daddy

Quote
Description
Who's Your Daddy is a casual 1 on 1 video game featuring a clueless father attempting to prevent his infant son from certain death.

Current Features
A beautiful home for you to watch over your son in
- Physics based game play allowing you to move small objects as you please
- Beautiful compositions to be played on your baby's piano
- Two unique character types to play as
- Randomized locations of crucial items
- Awesome power ups for being able to do chores
- Available for PC, Mac, and soon Linux/Steam OS

The Characters
Who's Your Daddy features two different characters to play as, the daddy and the baby.

Daddy
The daddy's goal is to prevent the baby from dying. He has a number of items that can be found inside the house to help him complete this task such as:

- Power Outlet Covers
- Cabinet Locks
- Pills

The father player also has the option to do various chores around the house, such as cleaning up toys or changing a smoke alarm battery. Doing these side activities rewards the father player with a power up to help him watch over his son. Some examples of these are:

- Peek-A-Boo: Makes the daddy invisible
- Bat Dad: Daddy can see the baby's health and location through walls
- Say Momma: Daddy can see the location of important objects through walls

The daddy player faces a number of challenges, due to needing the knowledge of how to approach any danger his baby may be in. He needs to be alert, fast moving and prepared for anything if he wants to keep his son safe.

Baby
The baby's goal is to take his own life using whatever objects within the house he can get his little hands on. This includes actions such as:

- Shoving forks into power outlets
- Chugging various cleaning products
- Scuba diving unsupervised in the tub

The baby player has minimal responsibility and this allows for a simple, yet erratic play style.

Off Topic / Mystery Thread

I am going to share the De Loys' Ape. The discovery was made by Francois de Loys in his expedition to Colombia an Venezuala, searching for oil. While they were in a tent, two mysterious animals came out of nowhere and started howling at the men among many other unfriendly activities. There was a female and a male, and eventually the men shot the female and the male ran off. When they investigated the animal they noticed that it was similar to a spider monkey, but was 1.57 metres tall (other spider monkeys were just over 1 metre). The ape had 32 teeth (while most New World monkeys have 36 teeth) and that it didn't have a tail.

He placed the money up by a stick and took a photograph. After that, they skinned the animal and took the skeleton with it. However, they had to leave the skeleton behind and lost some supposed photos they took of it when their boat was capsized -- although I don't think this is likely. What do you think? I can't even come with a conclusion, although I think that it may be a very limited species in Colombia/Venezuala that doesn't come out much.

Feel free to share any mysteries in this thread.

We English have been opressed by speaking our natural language. I tried to fit in with the Slovakians and Czechs but they verbally abused me off their thread. But today, we can finally express our English language!

Halloween Thread

Halloween is in 2 days! I am surprised nobody has been discussing this. Personally, my family is annoyed with people knocking at the door every 10 seconds, so we're probably going out for a meal or something.

Let's discuss!

A place to discuss any minifigures.

I have a set of Peninsular British Line Infantry which need painting, can't find the time at the moment. I also have some corresponding Peninsular Officers.

I also want to get this. This website has really high-detailed figures that come on a wooden stand and all other fancy stuff. They also have a high variety of figures, from Napoleonics to the Reich.

Other Games / Until Dawn (PS4 Exclusive)
« on: August 31, 2015, 01:15:51 pm »

Until Dawn is an interactive drama survival horror video game developed by Supermassive Games, published by Sony Computer Entertainment for the PlayStation 4. It was originally scheduled to be released on the PlayStation 3 and feature PlayStation Move support, but in August 2014, the game was reintroduced as a PlayStation 4 exclusive. It was released worldwide in August 2015.

Until Dawn was met with a positive critical response upon release, with praise directed at the visuals, choice mechanic, horror elements, music, voice acting and gameplay design. Most of the criticism the game drew was concerning the story, mostly the second half, camera angles, character movements and partially linear plot.

Skins

Dutch Grenadiers

The Dutch Grenader became part of the French army in 1810 following Napoleon's annexation of Holland. Napoleon reviewed the troops and was extremely impressed with the appearance of them. They wore white coats faced with crimson, instead of traditional dark blue worn by other senior regiments. However, their behaviour was so appalling that they were forced to apologise to the general public for their rowdy and drunken behaviour.

2nd Regiment of Dragoons

The Prussian dragoons were on a lower status than the Cuirassiers and rode on smaller horses, but they were in combat more often. They were universal troops, they could skirmish, scout, fight dismounted and make all-out charge in pitched battle.

He recieved his titles in part by being the brother-in-law of Napoleon Bonaparte, through marriage to Napoleon's youngest sister, Caroline Bonaparte. 60th Rifles

The 60th Rifes an infantry rifle regiment of the British Army, raised in the American colonies in 1756. They were used to defend against the French and their allies during the Seven Years' War. During the Napoleonic Wars, a 5th battalion was raised and equipped entirely with the Baker Rifle with green jackets with red facings. This proved effective and so British Light Infantry battalions were replaced with Rifle battalions, an another Rifle battalion was added to the 60th Regiment of Foot. It served alongside the 95th Rifles and the King's German Legion rifle soldiers in the Peninsular War. Another Rifle battalion was raised and sent to fight in the American War of 1812.
