Hello to all the Cavalry Community of Napoleonic Wars, and welcome to the thread of the very first official Cavalry Nation Cup !
This tournament, organized by Griff and I, aims to regroup all the members of the Cavalry Community, in order to make each nation face each other like the Infantry Community already has done a few times.
This Tournament will have its specific rules and organization, and we highly hope to be able to bring as many nations as we can, in order to fight in good conditions, with good sportsmanship, and with the little touch of regional pride that always motivates everyone to give their best !
So gentlemen, which nation will bring the best riders ? Who will triumph and who will fall ? Up to you to write the story !The Napoleonic Wars Cavalry Nation Cup will begin on March the 7th.

1. Teams will only be composed of players who have the nationality of their team's country/countries.
2. Teams will be composed of 14 players minimum, 21 players maximum.
3. Teams containing coalitions between countries will be only allowed by the organizers, on the condition that this is the only way for these countries to play due to low numbers.
4. On the field, 12 men maximum will be allowed to spawn and fight.
5. If a team doesn't bring enough players, they will play with what they have, but the team they face will still be allowed to have 12 men fighting.
6. Teams will have to pick one unit between the following: Hussar, Cuirassier, Dragoon. The team will have to play with this unit during all its matches.
7. Matches will be 'first to 8'.
8. To win a round, a team has to kill everyone in the enemy team.
9. Picking enemy weapons and horses is allowed, like in a standard 1v1 regimental cavalry fight.
10. Behave ! Do not tea-bag, and keep the global chat to a minimum.
11. Listen to the admins and what they say.
12. Matches will be organized at 19.30pm GMT, however, if both nations agree to play the match at another time, then they will be allowed to play it at the time they want.
13. One officer (the Team Captain or the Vice Captain if the Captain isn't there) per team may be on the field, to lead his men.
14. Shooting is strictly forbidden. If an officer or a ranker is caught firing his pistol, referees will reset the round, and the team of the guilty man will loose one point.

Why should you be Captain?
I would like to present myself as candidate to be the team captain. This because I feel as a Belgian enthousiast that Belgium should earn more recognition for its presence (though small) in the Napoleonic era. I feel I have sufficient experience on the battlefield, in leading as well as assisting and fighting. To respect all the language-groups of Belgium and to ensure that everyone would understand me, i would be leading in English mainly, lest the team would only exist out of Flemish/Wallonian/German Belgians.
My experience: NCO in the No3 EFC Hussars; LtCol (2nd in charge) of the 5e Hussards and Current Captain (1st in charge) of the 1erCrb. Eventhough I would be honoured to take the leading position for the Belgian team, I would be glad to assist any other captain (if picked) in assembling the team and organizing the details for the tournament.

No, Matim, we aren't trying to help our nations. We already talked about this rule during hours on TeamSpeak, all the arguments have been launched, and at the end, we decided to keep the rule which grants an equal balance in every match.
Please keep in mind the fact that there aren't only France and Poland, we have to pick the rules that will grant the most equal matches as possible for every nation.
Griff and I won't tolerate a long debate about this rule on this thread, if you want to talk about it don't hesitate to PM me on Steam or FSE.

So, I think I would be pretty useful as a groupleader and would like to help the German team to win this.

I've talked with Patrykus and he told me that your "discussion" lacked the bit of arguments from your side, because you hid those somewhere and unfortunetely couldn't find them. And i am writing here, because it's a forum for discussion and i want to give everyone (involved) possibility to show their opinion as well as force you to show those "hidden points".
Anyway we have much time till march and there is no problem in both discussing and changing rules. Don't make this thread muzzled, just like on my beloved polish forum, i'm sick of it.

Why you should be Captain (a long answer would be better): Playing this game for almost 3years and played a lot of cavalry. Am head-admin of the cavalry groupfighting server and won the cav groupfighting tournament. Also I am no longer leading a regiment which makes me pretty neutral towards all regiments. If we have a leader of a cavalry regiment as team captain we can be sure that a large part of the team are members & friends. There are other good cav players in this country though.

Indeed. If the captain himself knows some very good cavalry players, he may call them to the selections. But if a player signs up, he will most likely get called to the selections as well, and then maybe he will get a chance to be in the final roster of the team.
Again, the organization of the team is up to the Captain and his Vice-Captain.

Well we will most likely do a Scandinavian team, since the cavalry community is way smaller than the infantry one. I unfortunately don't think that countries such as Denmark or Norway could field and entire team by their own.

Why you should be Captain (a long answer would be better): Why should i be Captain of the polish team? Well, first of all, i wouldn't answer this question, if there were candidates more adequate than me. Unfortunetely, there aren't.
I am the officer (1st in command at this moment) of the 14pk, the best heavy cav regiment of all time on NW, one of the best cavalry regiments ever, and the one with relativly big experience, especially in tourneys, especially those like this one (similarity to one vs one). I don't say that to "promote" my regiment, it just shows how much experience did i learn during all that time.
Is there anything more that speaks for me as a captain? There is one thing, important one, that places me in really good light. That is the effort i put into trying to let all polish best cavalrymen to find their place in the representation, the effort i put into convincing you to at least speak about that rule that, well, divides us into two parts, provided that i will convince the polish leaders to repeat their words spoken on the official meeting. Unforunetely, I failed, for what i'm really sorry, but i was the only person that at least tried.
What else can i say, if you will pick me as a commander, there will be place in my representation for all my countrymates.

Really guys. Instead of fighting for your very own goals, you could think (and discuss) about a solution that makes everyone happy (and leads out of the current situation).
For example, what did Griff+ Erik said about the suggestion to split poland into two teams?
Hm, an other solution, which sounds kind of better to me is to actually take the best curassiers of opland and the best hussars and organize a match between them. The winner decide the class..Cool is, that the winner of this match will be the better choose in the cup anway, so I think sportive contest would be a very peacful option to end this fight.. Of course only if you can behave sportive.

Why you should be Captain (a long answer would be better): I have been in a the 15th Hussars for a really long time and during that time i have spent most of the time as a Trainer. The list of people iv trained is long and i have a vast experiance in prepareing and training people for upcomeing events and 1v1's. Since there aint many known Swedish cav playing people i want to promote our nations cav players and bring them closer to eachother and give them more renown and recognition. In the 15th Hussars i am an Nco and therefore i have a great deal of Leadership and people will listen when i give them orders and that will help against any confusion within the ranks.
I am a really Active player and therefore i can focus alot on training the people in the team and help them with the things they lack in skill and promote the things they are good at.

I got a long time experience with leading in events and organizing eg. getting people on for events. If I would be captain of the swedish team I would make sure that the best or most active players get in to the team and not only friends. I always think there is room for improvement and I am looking to improve as a cavalry player all the time when I am on NW, and I would be looking for people with the same attitude. I wouldn't enforce discipline eg. I would never enforce PTS, because I think a good atmosphere is better for the team long term. The swedish cavalry community ain't huge and is therefor limited, however I would say it is possible to build a strong team with good teamwork and there are other ways to be good on such as dismounted skills. So if we play our cards right we could get a very strong team even though the amount of cavalry players are limited. I am always open to suggestions! I know how to teach people who are new to cavalry the basics of it. I wouldn't accept any sort of trolling or mocking other members in team, a non-bad atmosphere is very important, too much negativity leads to bad results and underperforming. I would also be open to let other people in the team lead a round or two if they want too. I am also very keen on not underestimating any opponents or overestimating, that always lead to a massive fuck up! My personal target would be to make sure that people enjoy this cup, after all it's a game and all about having fun. Every decision about the team like what class we are gonna choose would be made through a diplomatic decision. However my personal opinion is that tactics based on teamwork would be easier as Hussars since they are way faster than the heavy class and are therefor more useful for helping teammates out etc.

If you look in to the German team steamgroup you will see that a majority of the people in it are non-2Lhr members, some are but that is also because the 2Lhr is the best german cavalry regiment around. So your point with him just picking his own members and friends are false. If you don't like Cooper it's a better idea that you take this discussion to pm over the forums or steam chat. This is a thread about Napoleonic Wars Cavalry League, and the leader of the german team has already been announced whether you like it or not and will not be changed because of your complaints. I can promise you that a majority of the cavalry community would vouch for Cooper being a good cavalry leader.

Why you should be Captain (a long answer would be better):
I would like to formally apply as team captain for the Austro-Swiss Team. Since I started playing NW I was the founder and head of the Austrian Cavalry Regiment Nr. 59 (part of IR Nr.59) Due to a lot of organisational stuff I might not be the worst in skills, but I am sure that I have excellent talent in organizing the Austrio-Swiss Cav team in the Nations Cup.
I will be a fair captain and besides a lot of fun I would be glad to lead the Austro-Swiss cavalry men as far as possible, even to the top! As a cuirassiers officier I usally don't play Hussars (and I definitely am not that skilled for lights now), but I would also be glad leading a team of Lights if the players want to. I am open to every discussion about what class we will play. Hopefully there will be enough participants for the Austro-Swiss team!

Because it changes nothing, on the organizing side, captain and vice captain are important 'cause they're managing their team, the matches with other teams, the eventual trainings, the friendly matches, the briefings, etc. However, from my point after 2 nation cups in infantry, when fighting everyone is equal, there is no captain, vice captain or last guy, everyone is worth the same, we all fight for our nations at the same level, with the same tag, and, if Erik or I have to go spec 'cause of the rotation we're organizing so everyone can play the matches, there is no point another one does it for us 'cause we're captain or vice captain. Also it'll make the officer a target, depending of who it is, he can be focused or drawn apart, and as I said we're all fighting together, no one's higher, no one's lower. This is why, from my point, the officer rule is stupid and everyone should play as ranker :)

A couple of changes for the Belgian team.
After having been slaughtered by the French team 9-1 in a friendly match this evening we realized that the moments we put up our best resistance and worked much better together, was as hussars. Thus, we've decided to switch again, back to hussars. Sorry for the inconvenience!
Another change:
We're replacing one player because he suddenly decided to no longer play M&B after he begged me to take him in the Belgian team. Please replace Kroniic with Merkato.

That's your point and it's fully understandable and respectable. Unfortunately, several captains asked for it many times, so the organizers have choosen to follow the community's will.
On another note: Lindblom, captain of the Scandinavian Coalition, has to step back from his job, and gives it to his Vice-Captain, Bamse. In fact, Lindblom's computer is broken, and he gives his role to the vice-captain with honor (thanks to him for that).

Anyway, it was just a training match, so If we were not both at our top, better use it to see which was wrong and how could we work on that. Also, don't forget that the UK didn't play with a team full of UK players, so I don't think it will represent the match with have in the cup ;)

What are the friendly matches for from your point ? work the teamplay and the tactics :) as I said to many people yesterday, cavalry's teamplay is less visible than infantry's but way more important. Some "trying to work together" is the beginning of what it shall be the entire cup, for the entire team. And sometimes the solo guys can be important aswell ^^
But I'm not going to explain this to you, u 2 nub 2 understand 8)

Our recorder always cut the parts that are boring and take too long, they have always done that :) And he can't record everyone fighting once he's dead, he has to focus on a few players, and if possible, the French ones, since it's a video showing the fight on the French side.

Well it was really disappointing that we can't bring our 12 dudes.

This match will be the last one of the Napoleonic Wars Cavalry Nations Cup.
The winner of this match will get the first place, and the loser will get the second place.
The match will be recorded, and there should be a livestream (the link will be provided soon), however spectators are allowed, do not hesitate to come.
I've put a poll on the thread. Do not hesitate to vote. This poll is made for fun, and for fun only, we do not want people to start an argument about it (the poll would be removed if that happens).

A bit of an unfair analogy Tardet - after all an F1 car cannot do anything to a tank and I'm sure that the sabres that the French players will wield will be quite painful to experience first hand. :)

So congratulations, it was a nice match although it was too damn long :P
The official announcment will be made tommorow when I will be on the right computer with the pictures I need to make it.
While waiting, I really hope that you enjoyed that first edition of the Napoleonic Wars Cavalry Nations Cup. Griff and I did our best to make it as enjoyable as possible.
A second season will be hosted, of course, but most likely in some months, we want to keep it as an unique tournament for the community :)

I've recorded the entire match from the Polish perspective. It was terribly exhausting for me, I didn't expected that it will be so long match. But despite the difficult moments I survived :). Although it was very much fun, especially because of listening to our team ;D. Again :D.

Well, to answer in a more serious tone.
I will not host the second edition of the Cav Nations Cup as long as the Cavalry League is still going, that's for sure. I have an agreement with Lindblom, who organizes it, and we decided that two big events such at these at the same time are too much for a small community like the cavalry one.
Therefore, we will all wait for the Cavalry League to end, and then we will be able to organize a second edition of of the Nations Cup. I do not know when exactly, but I will do my best to find a suitable time that would be the best for everyone.
This second edition will need some work, of course, I need to form up a new organizing team, I need to change a lot of things to make it shorter than last time, where it took too long, and people lost interest at the end, and I have to do plenty of things to make this edition quite more enjoyable than the previous one.
If you are interested in giving me a hand, or taking part to the new staff that I will form, you know you can always find me on Steam, I am open to discussions here.
I will let you guys know about the news via Steam if you ask me, but well, for now you know that you have at least 2 months ahead, the time for the Cavalry League to be played.
I hope I could make it clear and give you all the needed informations. :)
