The saddest thing about this huge delay? we could have gotten a little more content in the final patch.
New content takes time to test, code etc
I doubt TW are in continual correspondence with FSE about their release date decision, making the release of patches a completely unorganized affair. While FSE's patches can be done ad hoc, if TW releases its patch however then FSE's patch needs to be ready or NW won't function correctly (afaik). Thus adding additional content while TW continually changes it's release date and given the dependency of NW patches on TW patches it would be a risky affair for FSE to make changes at this point which could in turn affect stability. Especially without the proper consultation of TW as some changes may need to be synced with TW's own patches.
Yeah, by now, FSE could have figured out how to add a new faction, new units, w/e. It's absurd this wait for this patch, that was supposed to be out DECEMBER!!!
Its a common occurrence I am afraid. TW works to its own busy schedule and its a schedule FSE has little influence on.
