How so? By most accounts, the Americans did rout after a couple of volleys. :P
But that's for a different thread.

It's actually American biased, cos it shows the Yanks actually getting a few shots off. Some units managed, most units didn't even get to one complete volley.

That being said, the way the battle is depicted (setting, time, terrain) is not that accurate either. Ah well, Mel Gibson makes good action scenes at least.

Well, of all, America's best leads were Washington and Lincoln. They did good, the rest...... well, each one did do something, but was it good - depends on the viewpoint.

In the meanwhile, you lose your statue of liberty

The US military even acknowledges the battle as one of its if not the worst defeat in US military history.

War of 1812, Blandesburg... That is the worst defeat in American history. It was a a few thousand militia, a few thousand regulars up against battle-hardened British. Within 20 minutes, the American center collapsed, followed by the left 20 minutes later, and then the right just after. The British forced the Americans to retreat so fast, the Americans all ran back to Washington D.C. and the British sacked the capital 5 days later.

That's the worst loss in American history. That, and 'Nam.

Well, happy 'Murica day!  :D
In theory we could do huge player numbers far over 500 players per server...  As such we will surely keep our promise to deliver you the 500 players per server.

We will probably go (far) over it, but that's for later.

What Riddlez read:

Gibson was right: gates WAS a damned fool in that battle. He placed his best troops, on the honourary right position. Gates did the same. (Though the British least elite troops on the left flank were still better than the most elite of the American army). Gates had his Militia facing Britsh Grenadiers (maybe 42nd BW, but not sure). The militia routed before even firing a volley, suffering the tremendous amount of 3 casualties. Though Riddlez never read about a cavalry charge on the left flank of the Brits.
Probably one of the very few old-timers here who hasn't been a regimental leader.

After the Rebels fled, Tarleton's Dragoons gave chase, cutting down stragglers for about twenty miles.
