I'm fascinated by the Wild West,American Civil War, War of 1812, and the US in general during the 1800s.
There are thousands upon thousands of amazing cowboy, US cavalry, US military, Indian War, etc paintings around!
Post them here for anyone interested in 1800s US history.

this is pretty fascinating, got this off my ACW reenactment unit, its pictures of civil war soldiers, but the colour has been restored.

I think the cavalry looks much nicer, and more professional, with the pith helmet shown in the 1st picture (2nd cavalryman).

I love the US cavalry. To bad my model wasnt used for the Wild West mod.
But you can still play with civil war cavalry in North and South :P

An oppurtunity to throw pictures of Kentuckians at people. Where to begin...

Kentucky Militia - War of 1812

The next picture actually has a pretty good story to it. I don't remember all the specific details, but weeks earlier Kentucky miltia were mauled by the British and surrendered during a battle on the Raisin River. The surrendering militia weren't given quarter, and were, for the most part, slaughtered. Following that, mounted Kentucky militia in a separate battle weeks afterwards charged in with their rifles and tomahawks* at hand shouting "Remember the River Raisin!"

Remember the River Raisin!

*I believe they had tomahawks, though I may be wrong. They may have just been wielding hatchets of various types. It was a long while since I read about the event.
