« on: October 07, 2021, 08:47:19 pm »
Thread and content are WIP, will finish later today/tomorrow, but here's the skinny for now:

Thirsty Thursday Sieges
Every Thursday @ 8pm EST
NEXT EVENT: 10/14
TTS is a weekly, semi-casual siege event hosted at 8pm EST aiming to showcase the work of mapmakers and create an entertaining night outside of the linebattle norm. The event is BYOB.

First shots fired @ 8pm. Rules (WIP) are as follows:
  • Defenders are allowed to move around independently within their fortifications but can only move outside their defenses in groups of 3
  • Attackers have no movement restrictions
  • Build points are set to 700 for Defenders and 1000 for Attackers
  • Any artillery on the map is fair use
  • A minimum of 2 siege maps will be played, each for 2 rounds. Admins will make a public vote at the end of the 2nd round for each map asking players if they'd like to play a 3rd round on the given map. If the vote passes, a 3rd round will be added for the map.

Total gametime: Around 1.5 hours.

Map Submissions and Rotation
This event also aims to playtest maps made by aspiring community map makers. We're looking for maps made for 50, 100, 150, 200, and 300 players. Please feel free to submit your maps for play! DM me on Discord and we'll talk: Franz du Hudson#3357

Signup
Regiment leaders should DM me via discord with their expected attendance and faction preference so we know how many to plan for: Franz du Hudson#3357. On the day of the event, regiment leaders should show up in the BCoF official Teamspeak 20 minutes prior to first shots @ 8pm. Regiments / 278th "Thunderer" Shock Troopers
« on: January 30, 2015, 07:21:44 pm »
G'day,

In short, this is a "regiment" made by a bunch of geeks who just so happen to also be friends that wanted to get back into playing linebattles in both NW and N&S. It was made by rolling randomly on a table for a random imperial guard regiment, and we then filled in the crunch with the fluff, because the best regiments always come from Warhammer 40k.

Anyway, here's the long version.

++BY: RECRUITMENT OFFICIO PROPOGANDAE++
++TO: IMPERIAL GUARD, NAVAL DETACHMENT: 278TH "THUNDERER" SHOCK TROOPERS AND ASSOCIATED OFFICERS++
++RE: RECRUITING ELIGIBLE FERAL WORLD POPULATION/ EXTRANEOUS POPULACE IN SECTOR++
++MESSAGE FOLLOWS++

Look above, servants of the God-Emperor, and witness the bold figure staring you straight in the eyes. He is among the untold billions of citizens of the Imperium who have taken the ultimate oath of honor to the Golden Throne- that of service in the Imperial Guard.

Duty in life, service in strength, loyalty through scars, and honor in death are but a small list of the most coveted of all prestigious virtues available to those seeking higher meaning in the Imperium. One of the pathways in which these can be gained is through that of the process of enlsting with the 278th "Thunderer" Shock Troopers. Ask this man above, he's already done most of it before you heard of the Astronomicon. (COMMISSARIAT NOTE: Enlisted soldiers are to consult their Uplifting Primer for more information on this subject. After reading the appropriate sections, report to your local Munitorum agent and receive the appropriate markings. Failure to do so may result in punishment as deemed appropriate.)

The 278th calls a small shrine world with vast agricultural systems its home. Originally selected by lottery of the populace, various citizens volunteered for service in their fervent devotion to keeping His will above that of foul xenos and heretics abroad. Favored by many for their skill in eradicating heresy and operating as a part of counter-cultist activity, they are well known by various Arbites commanders throughout the Imperium for their dedication to duty, and skill in tactics.

Ultimately assigned as a part of a fleet-based combat infantry detachment, the 278th focuses on using drill and discipline to lead both boarding parties against the unfortunate vessels that sail the void without the Emperor's Light, and both storming the beaches of planetary defenses to secure yet another world to be bathed in His merciful Truth.

As of now, the 278th has landed on this planet as part of the Gilded Crusade, which is operating under the mission to pacify this sector, and bring it to the fold the Imperium at large.

Those who have already seen the Light we have brought may show their devotion to their faith by taking up the banner of the 278th to crusade against the ignorance of the galaxy, one continent and planet in a sector at a time. They may put a request through the local Munitorum officers directed to the captain of 2nd Company, "D" Platoon Commander Frank to their acceptance into the landing party.
[If you'd like to join up with us, send me a steam message. My community URL is /id/GOODLY. Type that into your steam community URL bar, and add me. I'd put my steam name, but it gives people garbled results. Alternatively, just send me a PM through the forums.]

Roster is as follows:

278th "Thunderer" Shock Troopers, "D" Company, 2nd Platoon
Captain: Frank
Lieutenant: Shandy
Sergeant: Zaods
Corporal: Terminus
Trooper: Mark, Toast, Mike, Winty, Celtic, Fishy

++TRANSMISSION END++
++THOUGHT OF THE DAY: Blessed are the Gun Makers.++

Community / NW Community Grievances
« on: February 13, 2013, 12:33:39 am »
Good day chaps,

As FSE has decided to create a brand new branch of the administration, The Community Representatives, I think it is very, very important we have a single place to focus all of our worries and frustrations that can be checked on a daily basis. Hopefully this thread will be just that.

Without bringing in a crapload of detail, the purpose of this thread is very simple: If you have a grievance, question, concern, witty joke, or anything of those lines, please post it here. I'm going to be checking this thread as much as I possibly can, which hopefully means daily.

Here are some guidelines for posting:

1) This thread is for community concerns.

That means that when you post, it shouldn't be something like "When is the next patch coming out?" or anything of that ilk. It should be relevant to the well-being of the NW Community, and something which affects the players themselves.

2) This thread is for questions, not discussion.

If someone asks a question, please do not respond to it yourself. I don't make up the rules around here, but I'd like only NW Com. Reps. to respond to questions here, and if anyone else, such as Deo, vince, or any other person of that power wants to, then by all means they can answer as well. As for discussion: I will lock this thread if I see a discussion happen, and then I'll ask an admin to delete all the posts of said discussion, including the question which sparked it. This thread is a Q&A-only thing.

3) You may ask any question, as long as you truly want an answer.

Even if a question may seem stupid, I personally will try to answer it. If you have a concern, I'll try my best to look into it to the best of my ability. Please, do not feel as if you can't ask something because it seems too simple! It's better having peace of mind rather than being nervous due to easily curable ignorance.

4) Try to keep your posts to the point.

I will read essay-length posts if I have to, but it's easier for me to understand what you need help with if you are concise with your post. It's harder to find a needle in a hay stack than it is a drawer.

5) Don't post anything that is offensive, malicious, or hawkish.

Don't simply post "I want this admin investigated for crimes against humanity!" simply because you were banned from a server because you killed 17 teammates with explosives. If you do really want an admin investigated, and it's for a legitimate reason, then I would hope you can post it here, but try to keep everything civil.

Once more, the overall purpose of this thread is to give the NW Representatives, specifically myself, an outlet to look into to gauge if we're not only doing our job right, but what we can do to improve ourselves, as well as a way to fully utilize the offices we've been voted into. Please use this thread to it's full potential. I look forward to working with you all.

Placeholder. We really don't use forums too much, but long story short:

We play the game actively, and we love what we do. We're a rather large community, and we have regiments in all NW mods and events. Usually we bring about 30-40 guys a pop to an event, so we know what we're doing. If you're interested, add [XI]Getty on steam. Thanks for checking us out.

*Note: the 24th and the 24th 2nd Battalion have a thing worked out. If specifics are needed, we basically are 1st battalion, them 2nd.

Events / The 24th Events
« on: January 18, 2013, 10:27:24 pm »
I'll be updating this with more info later, but for now:

Huzzah, hooray, cheerio and tally-ho what-what gentlemen of all calibers, you, as you have clicked on this wonderful thread, are most cordially invited to apply your regiment to the 24th Warwickshire's Anglo-Zulu Events. We'll be hosting 2 spiffing times a week, with a constant stream of well-mannered fun, and good fighting all around, what what.

Battle

The Battle event is just as the name implies: a battle.

Depending on the amount of people we get, we'll be playing according CUSTOM maps. I'll be making these maps myself. So far, until I finish my current map, this game mode isn't available yet. *

*For now, we'll be using random maps, or maps that seem appropriate.

Maps that you could expect to see on the horizons of battle are: Rorke's Drift, Isandlawana,  The Battle of Gingindlovu, and other fun maps.

The Art of Defense

This is a medium game-mode, and is basically easier to get in.

We'll be hosting either random maps, or maps specially made for bots, which will basically be the brits fighting a bunch of angry zulu warrior fuzzies, oh dear.

The brits, if they win, will have the enemy bot count increased by 5 each time they win. This will continue until they loose 4 times in a row, then they will start to lose bots 10 at a time. This will continue until we're all satisfied.

Bear in mind that we'll typically have some regiment (that volunteers) on the zulu team in order to direct the fighting, and if needed, destroy the barricades. It'll be quite goodly fun.

If you're interested in joining this, here's the time schedule:

RULES ~

This applies to both events:

You may have as many officers as you like, as long as rankers make up the majority of the force.
You may spread out a tad, but do not skirmish along a 2-mile front. There is a difference between taking cover and flanking.
You may designate "Task forces". The 24th uses this a lot in NW & N&S. Basically, you can create a splinter group from your regiment that can go beyond the regimental formation bounds. They must be at least 4-6 guys though.
You may take cover & crouch when needed.
You MUST be in a recognizable grouping to not be considered ramboing.

CAVALRY

Cav must stay together.
If there is a lone cavalryman running around, god shall smite thee with a rocket launcher.

OVERVIEW

As you can tell, we're pretty lax with the ruleset. This event is supposed to be fun for everyone, not just people who are up-tight. Personally, the 24th is going to be doing lines and stuff, but we're just doing it for fun and the epic factor. Do what you want to and have fun!

BATTLE ~ Tuesday, 7PM Est
Art of Defence ~ Wednesday, 6PM Est

The Anglo-Zulu War / The [24th] Official Server & Events
« on: January 12, 2013, 02:57:24 pm »
Evening,

I'll be simple at first, and then edit this topic when I've got more time to. As of now, here's just the bare rules and stuff.

The server itself:

It's basically just a fun server. The usual stuff: bots V humans, etc. etc. BUT: there will be rules and special events.

The rules are simple and easy to follow. As such, those who do not follow them within reason will be kicked. The admins know how inter-regimental in-game shenannigans can happen, where members of one reg. just laugh about with each other. That's fine, but don't get too out of hand. Temp bans will be handed out at the digression of the admins.

So, official rules:

Thou shalt not~
Teamkill
Teamwound
Troll
Say Racist things in chat (unless it's like 3 in the morning and everyone's drunk, which is common.)
Annoy people
Do something worth a kick.

It doesn't take that much brain power to follow these rules, so I expect everyone should be able to. If for some reason you aren't, you may want to contact your nearest physician.

Special Events

We love the Anglo-Zulu mod. As such, we are now hosting at "random" times of the day (basically when some admin gets his ass on the server), an event we call.......

The Art of Defense.
The Art of Defense is a game-mode which requires an admin to play. We start a new map, either random or official, and then set the bot count to 15. Every time the UK wins, it goes up by 5. This will continue until it becomes just impossible to live anymore on this dreadful planet.

Every time we are going to hop on and do this event, we will post on this thread. Do not be alarmed or report triple posts or what-not. They are going to be used as announcements.

Current Record: 55 w/ a team of 16

24th Official Admins

Spearing
TkTom
Redbeef
Colbac
Ragnarson

Plans for the future

Right now, the server has 100 slots. We'll be changing that to 200 today or tomorrow. After this, I'll be updating this section and adding a new, scheduled, NA/EU event. Those of you who attend the NW/N&S Thundersnow's Linebattles will be familiar.

Special Notes

Please take note that the 24th Warwickshire & the 24th Warwickshire, 2nd Battalion have an accord to share the name, so don't be mindf*cked when you see someone called 24th_Something_Blah and 24th[Something]Blah together. We are not to be confused as the same regiment.

Off Topic / Gun Control Debate
« on: December 15, 2012, 09:58:21 am »
Right, let me lay down that only intelligent arguments should be posted. If you are simply looking to post "I liek guns, #bangbang" fuck off.

Here's the statement:

Strict federal control & regulation of firearms, no matter the specifics of them (fire rate, magazine size, etc. etc.), is imperative to reducing gun-related crimes in the U.S.

Begin.
