I'm trying to get back into the Skyrim and I just wanted to ask... What mods do you all use; if any?

This guy recommended me some mods on TaleWorlds.

Schlongs of skyrim and animated prost

The first step is to install nexus mod manager and skyrim script extender. After that you're all set for your never ending quest to mod the shit out of the game until conflicting mods make it impossible to play and force you to do a clean install and start all over again, which will end up exactly the same way.

When I was playing I preferred two setups. One was more of an enhanced regular Skyrim experience, the other was using an overhaul mod that changed the feel of the game entirely.

first
-Unnoficial patches. Duh.

-Realvision enb for a more colourful and nice looking Skerm.

-Immersive armors, immersive weapons for equipment variety. Been running into some nice handplaced weapons in dungeons.

-Cloaks of Skyrim & Winter is coming for cloaks and hoods, because they are cool.

-SkyUI for an improved UI

-Deadly Combat for combat that sucks less than vanilla.

-Dual wield parrying & dual wield parrying animations. Finally you can do a (poor) block if someone manages to come at you when you have a spell in one of your hands.

-Categorized favorite menu. This mod makes scrolling favorites so much easier and handier, I can't figure out how the devs didn't figure this shit out in the first place.

-Crimson tide. Adds visible wounds to enemiesand they'll bleed a puddle on the ground once they've died. You can even drag them around to create a (sort of) blood trail. This is super important.

-Interesting NPCs. By far my favourite mod. Adds a fuckton of fully voiced NPCs all over Skyrim who have a lot of insignificant, but well written dialogue. Some of them can be used as followers. My current companion is this immortal/undead ex-Psijic order mage I found in the ratway. He keeps going on how great he is and how puny mortals such as myself with my pitiful mind cannot even hope to grasp how great he is. He uses pretty basic spells, but has a fun personality. When I went to Riverwood he said "I heard there are two males trying to use you to win a woman's heart. You should kill the woman to punish them for hesitating."

-Warzones. Adds warzones with average M&B scale battles taking place around Skyrim. I personally don't use it any more because I don't like how the levelling is handled in that mod, but it's pretty cool.

-Skyrim Scaling Stopper. Not quite as good as OOO of Oblivilol, but helps with some of the level scaling. You're going to have a hard time as a fresh character, but being level 40 doesn't mean the family crypt of your average Neighbourhood Janssons is filled with nothing but Draugr deathlords.
[close]

EDIT: With the exception on Skyrim Scaling Stopper and maybe the immersive weapons/armours mods, a lot of the above mods can be used with the overhaul described below. I'd actually recommend using them, especially the immersive NPCs mod.

the second
A multiple follower allowing mod, a backpack mod to help you carry shit and the overhaul mod Requiem.

Requiem is an overhaul mod that takes the overall feel of Skyrim closer to old school RPGs. Most importantly, it makes the world more or less completely static, unlike regular Skerm which follow your progress and artificially changes the world to keep the challenge on roughly the same level throughout your whole game. Pretty much everything will wipe the floor with your your cold dead mangled corpse at level one, and at level 40 you'll be strolling through bandit infested caves and fortresses, casually swatting the bastards dead left and right with an elemental weapon. It feels great because it actually makes you feel like you're progressing and developing your character. Here's some features.

* Skill level matters, perks matter even more. It's not true in every case, but a good rule of thumb is that you need perks to not suck at whatever you're trying to do. Perk tree's overhauled to make character specialization and planning a bigger thing than it was in native. Jack of all trades characters are possible, but you'll save yourselves plenty of gray hairs if you specialize in a couple of things(like 2h weapons, heavy armour and bows) and make a new character for another style of gameplay.

* Weapons kill you and they kill you quick. Fortunately, if you're any good at using them, you kill things pretty quick too.

* If bandit swords kill you quickly, arrows do it even faster. If you wear light armour and you see archers, you'd better start thinking tactics.

* Blocking and dodging are more essential than they've ever been in Skyrim.

* Armour matters, armour types actually differ a lot. Light armour is easy to use and doesn't offer hell of a lot of protection, but it's certainly better than nothing and also leaves you light at your feet. Heavy armour turns you into a slow fat fuck and if you don't have the proper perks invested, just wearing the thing drains your stamina. It also slows you down, making dodging reaaally hard for the first dozen levels of your adventures. But it offers MUCH more protection than light armour and at some point arrows barely tickle you any more. Also, you can bullrush enemies off their feet by sprinting into them in heavy armour. Feels good mang.

* Magic has also been revamped, but I haven't played a mage in Requiem yet so I can't say anything for sure, other than being a proper battlemage requires some commitment. Heavy armour gimps your magic skills so have fun blowing snowflakes and sparks at your enemies until you put a perk or two in the right place(s). Magic of enemies is pretty deadly, but fortunately most of the cunts are wearing robes. Remember what I said about light armour and bows? Yeah, robes don't even count as armour. Happy sniping!

Yeah, got more than 100 mods installed. Looks epic.

I recently got this for the computer, and I'm gonna finish my native campaign but I'm gonna start another with some mods. Recommend any mods to play?
Title: Re: Anyone still play Skyrim?
Post by: AeroNinja on January 04, 2016, 07:22:04 pm
Def, all the 2K mods. For graphics landscape dungeons etc. They enhance the graphics alot. Better water from steam workshop is the best water mod imo.

Amidianborn armor looks awesome and JaySus weapons add a lot of new swords n stuff.

Alternative start for skyrim is fun aswell if you dont want to start as dragonborn but going on your own way. Also an ENB i recommend is fire and ice. But ENB is a personal preference.

Ill give some mods whenever ill come onto my pc again.

I'd like a graphics overhaul recommendation, because I haven't been able to put my old one (of course this time with the highest options) together on my new rig. I don't mean a single mod, I mean vital retextures, a nice ENB, face, body, and hair (and beard) replacements, animation improvements (I don't like slootification, genuinely good animations are great), sound enhancements (though I believe I'm 100% covered on this front unless there's something I'm unaware of), as well as new content like DLC-sized additions (can't think of a single one, not even Gray Cowl), landscape and city/town/village enhancements (I've seen some good ones but have no clue about compatibility), and so on.

Basically, I want to make Skyrim a bigger, better game, in all available options, without making it not Skyrim at heart. I don't want anime girls with Death Note powers and huge Bleach-esque swords, nor do I want armor and weapons that don't feel appropriate to Skyrim.

TL;DR: I would be playing Skyrim a lot again if there was a clear list of mods with a well put together install list (or just good compatibility that lets me use LOOT or something like that). But, as far as I know, there is not.

I recommend using the GEMS Mods

Static mesh improvement

Improved sound overhaul they have many stuff and their own website of all their Mods. :)

The enb i really like is fire and ice.

I still play it. I have a few mods installed, the Roman one is quite good although I cannot get the Celtic clothes etc. to work (I think it is clashing with another mod, I must have at least fifty on the go). In terms of new ones I am not sure really, you get a few now and then that add an extra house, followers, weapon etc but nothing groundbreaking or exciting.
Of course a few exciting things still happen when playing, such as the Great Horker massacre (a sabre cat and a wolf turned up and attacked this lot):

I've actually been trying to, lately, with some new mods, but I think I'm just going to start my list over from scratch. I'm looking to somewhat overhaul it, improve the graphics greatly, while giving it a less cold but more dark vibe. I also want it to be quite a bit more difficult, since it was super easy whenever I played and I'm trying to slowly ease myself off my Dark Souls addiction after being disappointed with DS3. So I got a lock-on and a roll-dodge mod that both work pretty well, but my old graphics mods just aren't cutting it, and the world is still too uninteresting (in my opinion, it had the least immersive world between Morrowind and Oblivion, primarily due to its small scale and empty landscapes--I liked the Skyrim DLCs waaaay better than the base game because of the new areas).

Anyone got a recommendable core graphics overhaul list? I can handle the ENB, because what I want is going to need some fine tuning, but I'd love some suggestions on texture and lighting replacements. Specifically, high quality textures that don't clash with each other, and lighting that adds better shadows, but dark enough to require using a torch or spell to see through dungeons/at night. I'm going to be using something like Grim and Somber, but I can't find a lighting mod that would compliment that well. RLO is okay, though I've had problems with functionality in the past, and it's not quite as contrasting as I'd hope--like having a ton of light sources in a room but barely any light, and not many light sources in an area but a weirdly high amount of light.

I have written a very large and long story about my Character in Skyrim gave it a personal touch to make it an actual fantasy.

I might post it here when it is done. Will surely be a very long read.

Every now and again I still pick it up with a new dash of mods and it's a lot of fun. I'm starting two characters, one being a conjurer, which I've never really tried doing before, that I'm giving the Soul Cairn summon spells + a mod spell that lets them summon Keepers, those big mini-bosses that look kinda like DS Darkwraiths. The other is something I've never actually attempted in TES before at all, which is alchemy and poisons, with stealth as a side thing. Poisons usually kinda suck so I'm working on trying to get the poisoning system converted into an enchantment system that uses poisons to re-oil your blades/arrows similarly to how soul gems fill enchanted weapons. Mostly doing that for the stealthier missions in the Beyond Skyrim expansions, which I recommend a lot by the way, even though the only playable one at the moment is Bruma, which is a decent size but the border cuts off so many things. Regardless, the area has a lot of nostalgia value for Oblivion fans, and it's an overall really well made mod. Idk what/when the next parts will be, but they've been showing a ton from Cyrodiil and High Rock + Hammerfell, which will be combined into a single overworld. Check it out.

Haven't played in years tbh. I am somewhat tempted to get the special edition (didn't get it for free because I never bought the DLCs for the standard Skyrim edition) for only 20 euros this sale. Despite me hating how bland and boring the world and the characters were, I appreciated the freedom to explore and dick around when it first came out. Playing again with DLC, 64Bit support and a bunch of new mods sounds tempting. I'm just affraid I'll get bored quickly because of a 'been there, done that' feeling.

A big, big change is getting mods that effect NPC interaction. That's what got me to play Skyrim again. It's a subtle change that translate to a significant one in game. Here's some ones I can recommend:

The People of Skyrim:
Really nice mod that changes a lot of aspects about both the game world and NPC behavior. Expands a TON on the world by adding new villages and NPCs to make Skyrim look less like an abandoned land where everyone migrated south for the winter.
https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/87687/

Immersive Citizens:
What I thought People of Skyrim was at first. This mod is all about expanding vanilla NPCs' behavior and adding to the sense of realism, which breaks up the feel that all NPCs in Skyrim are weird robots. It adds new schedules for a ton of NPCs, so they're not just wandering around town all day.
https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/65013/

Interesting NPCs:
Adds a bunch of NPCs around the world that are all fully voice acted and unique from each other and from the base game characters, but more or less fit into the Skyrim world (they all should be lore friendly). Many are followers.
https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/8429/

To Your Face:
A brand new mod that gets rid of that awkward dialogue that happens when you're running through a town or sitting in a town marketplace and people talk to the back of your head over each other because they all think the Dragonborn gives a shit about what they tell them every time they come into town. It's an SKSE plugin, so you'll need to get SKSE and drop the plugin into the SKSE plugins folder. There's tutorials online that explain how each type of mod should be installed, by the way. More or less you should just use Mod Organizer and learn where mods are supposed to be.
https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/87635

There's also some mods that introduce new way quests can be gained, meaning new quests are added. I haven't used many but here's some I know were pretty popular.

Missives:
Adds signposts in several towns and cities that offer local jobs, similarly to the monster quests from the Witcher 3.
https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/85815

Legacy of the Dragonborn:
Another one I always heard great things about but never used myself. Adds a playerhome that you can fill with the legendary things you find along both the vanilla questlines and dungeons, and things unique to Legacy of the Dragonborn, which is a ton of things. I'm also pretty sure there's compatibility with some major quest mods and stuff, so the artifacts you find in those can be added to your collection in LotD. Wasn't really my thing to collect and display stuff, but I hear the content added is worth it alone.
https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/52248/

And of course, there's new lands mods that a lot of people consider must-experiences.

Beyond Skyrim: Bruma:
The first release in a series of releases that aims to add the entirety of Tamriel to Skyrim's engine (and they're actually making a ton of progress!). This one is fantastic and has me really excited for the rest, it adds Bruma and the areas around it, including the Wizard's Tower from the Oblivion DLC, and Cloud Ruler Temple which has been apparently transformed into a lovingly made dungeon experience, which I still haven't started but plan to soon. The rest of Cyrodiil, as well as High Rock + Hammerfell, are on their way pretty soon.
https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/84946

Falskaar:
Falskaar was kinda the original new lands mod. It adds a DLC sized new world to Skyrim with its own stories and stuff. Not something I experienced because I had weird mod order inconsistencies, but something worth experiencing I've heard.
https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/37994

Shadows of Morrowind:
While not anything super complete at the moment, and not something you should have high hopes for in the future (afaik), this mod adds Morrowind as an explorable area, basically as a way to see the Morrowind world in Skyrim's engine. I'm pretty sure it's not much more than that, but they might have been expanding on it since then. There's other mods out there, in progress, that aim to go above and beyond Shadows of Morrowind, including Beyond Skyrim(: Morrowind), and Skywind. Still, pretty cool landscapes, if you just like to explore, and hey, it might be more than that and I'm just an idiot.
https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/35789

Beyond Reach:
Totally unrelated to Beyond Skyrim, Beyond Reach is a less than lore-friendly mod that adds some new lands I think west of Markarth. It should still feel like Skyrim, but I think they take some twists and turns that makes it feel different. Can't personally recommend it, and it's not something I was told is a must play thing, but more lands is more lands.
https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/48467

The Gray Cowl of Nocturnal:
More of a massive quest mod than a new lands mod, GCoN is a renowned mod that centers around searching for the Gray Cowl of Nocturnal from Oblivion, which ended up in Hammerfell after the Oblivion Crisis. Regarded as one of the top mods of Skyrim in terms of content, it's definitely something you should check out if you like a mix between stealth, combat, and puzzles. Emphasis on puzzles--think before you do.
https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/64651/

Skyblivion and Skywind:
The TESRenewal project is something I've been following since I heard that some dedicated fans were trying to remake the amazing but clunky game of Morrowind in Oblivion. They've come a long way since then, though, and are now slowly but surely making progress on recreating and expanding on the games of Oblivion Morrowind in Skyrim's engine. You can't play it yet, you might not even be able to play it in 2018, but it'll definitely be an experience worth the wait, I'm sure. They're the most professional looking Skyrim mods perhaps ever made. They're remaining loyal to both games, but drastically, and I mean DRASTICALLY overhauling the world space to both make them bigger and make them more interesting and detailed, so traveling all over on foot will actually appeal to more than those who like to stumble across weird quests. Again, no release date in sight for either, but seriously, keep your eyes out for both, they're likely going to be absolutely fantastic experiences even if you're not big fans of Morrowind or Oblivion.

Enderal:
Probably the most ambitious mod behind Skywind, Skyblivion, and Beyond Skyrim, but perhaps for that reason, it's actually out. I think this mod has won awards from places like moddb, and it's so significant it's regarded as its own entire game rather than a mod for Skyrim--it has nothing to do with TES, it's just build in the engine. You unfortunately can't use most mods alongside Enderal, but its installer is pretty awesome, and will put all your Skyrim mods into a backup while Enderal is installed, so that when you uninstall Enderal through the installer, all your mods should be put back where they were. Anyway, this thing is basically a game, which is free, as long as you own Skyrim (and maybe the DLC). It plays like its own game, the world is interesting to explore and just about every NPC you come across is interesting. The dungeons and environments are well paced, so things never feel boring, and the whole experience feels extremely professional. I wouldn't be surprised if the dev team becomes a company in the future, if they haven't already. It isn't TES, but it's one of the best things you could experience when launching up Skyrim. Personally, though, I recommend playing this before trying to heavily mod Skyrim, because though the installer is great and all, it's not at all perfect, and can make mistakes, especially with SKSE and ENB stuff.
https://enderal.com/

There's of course also a ton of mods that change the graphics, mechanics, UI, sounds, or add new content like weapons, armors, houses, followers, etc., but those are all up to personal opinions. For instance, after Witcher 3 reawakened my love for the Witcher franchise, I modded Skyrim with some mods that made it play and feel more like Witcher 3. There's also mods that change combat, some of which inspired by Dark Souls, which are things I can personally recommend from my own opinions but they may not be what you'd want. That's the only reason I haven't recommend mods like VIGILANT, which is a pretty fantastic DS-esque quest mod. Check some of the combat mods out, check out some of the graphic overhauls. Skyrim is very easily transformable, and that's its #1 redeeming factor, since it fixes, redoes, and expands everything good or bad about Skyrim.

P.S. I'm a fast typer and I know about these mods, this didn't take that long to compile. :)

Having a more Dark Souls-esque combat system actually sounds very appealing. You might have convinced me to just go for it and try the Skyrim SE.
Title: Re: Anyone still play Skyrim?
Post by: Audiate on December 27, 2017, 10:23:32 pm
No! SE doesn't have nearly as much mod support. It's a trap a lot of people fall into, I almost did myself. Hopefully you didn't already buy it.

VIGILANT is a must have for Dark Souls fans, I hear. I've been meaning to try it but just haven't yet.
https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/67103/

And in case it isn't already translated by now:
https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/83876/ - Haven't tried it, could be bad, the original might be better, I don't know. Try the base mod on its own and try this if you don't like whatever the vanilla is.

Gameplay mods you'd want for sure:

TK Dodge:
Let's you assign a button to preform a directional roll. Not as smooth as Dark Soul's but it actually adds some skill and interaction to the game, and makes a lot of the boss fights feel more interactive.
https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/20923/

Dark Souls Gameplay:
This is what I ended up using as my combat mod. It's imperfect but it balances the game in a way to make it feel more like how Dark Souls is balanced.
https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/52883/

Dark Souls Combat:
This is what comes up when you Google for this stuff, but I never tried it, it might have come out after I installed the mods I ended up using, or it could have been that it's on loverslab and I only searched the nexus. Loverslab is where all the porn mods are, but mods, chill out, this isn't an 18+ mod. Still, viewer discretion on the link if you don't have a good adblock.
https://www.loverslab.com/topic/50710-dark-souls-combat-v153/

You could also try out the UI mods that add health bars. Here's a few, I never bothered with them.
https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/58728/
https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/82725/

Also, this could be nice with or without enemy health bars. It may or may not have health bars of its own, didn't read.

Played Enderal a year ago, was one of the best RPG experience I've ever had (and I've had some  ;D ).
Far better than Skyrim in term of story and immersion, I got totally hooked into it. I could definitely pay to get more.

They're currently working on a expansion for the mod, but I heavily suggest everyone to give it a try.

I'd play more Enderal but my mod list, which I'm really happy with, is pretty intensive and will definitely have problems with Enderal's installer.

Been playing a load of Morrowind lately, great game.

You could save your actual folder and install Enderal on a clean install ? :D
I played Morrowind this year too, managed to install the Overhaul mod which regroups quite a few mods to make it "reworked".
I'm still amazed about how much content this game actually has. And how the quests writings and the background were good compared to today's Elder Scrolls.

I have finally my beloved Skyrim game back. Didn't run on my previous PC. These are some new screenshots I have taken. I have used the Natural View Tamriel - NVT ENB, and some other graphical mods. I must say Skyrim looks really nice now. Just need to install some NPC realistic textures and all is good I guess.

I'll start off with some graphics shots first.

So these are a few shots I have taken with the ENB and without. Ofcourse you can still edit the ENB how you want it to look. But I'm not really experienced with that, and I must say that I really like this default setup.

Most of the best mods are from back in the day imo, some mods are almost essential like Enhanced Lightning and FX (https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/2424), True 3D Sound (https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/1897), SkyUI (https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/12604), Static Mesh Improvement (https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/659)
It all depends on what kind of mods you want, there are just a fuck ton of them out there

If you haven't modded Skyrim to the point where it's almost a different game, you haven't played Skyrim lol

I did play Enderal etc. But I like it to keep the story just Skyrim. I do have a lot of gameplay changing mods.

Oh absolutely agreed- I enjoy a lot of immersion mods, but do like to keep the story pretty much the same with some adjustments. still, bending your game to its limits is part of the fun sometimes!

Yes. That's very true. :D

The next mods I'm gonna try are these Sekiro combat mods or Dark Souls. Though I'm a bit scared that I'm gonna mess up my game and its gonna crash if I do so. But either way I think I might try it soon.

They make the combat so much better.

I couldn't stand enderal's stupid mechanic where you vision gets blurry and you die unless they've changed it since 2018 I'll give enderal a go again. Also I'm with hunteh I love the core skyrim and any MAJOR change mods I mostly dislike unless it fits in with the rest of the game.

True, I did not enjoy Enderal that much also if you compare it to Skyrim. It was interesting at first because it was a total overhaul but I lost interest very fast. Now I just play Skyrim with the Beyond Skyrim mod and other regions of the actual TES lore.

I ain't playin' Skyrim with mods, but I'm bout to be playing Morrowind with mods. Morrowind w/o shitty combat = best elder scrolls game imo. Might even get into Unity Daggerfall a bit after Morrowind since it looks promising.

Yo guys, check this showcase out. It's from a person who knows his stuff around modding Skyrim. He has a tutorial which you can follow if you want it to be the same looking as his.

All the tutorial videos are in the description of this showcase.

My apologies for the triple post, just wanted to share my own recorded version of the graphical overhaul. Was very easy to install with the tutorials and the result is just phenomenal.

YouTube is still rendering it, but the 1080p option is available anyways.
