Modifications / How to add multiple skins
« on: May 27, 2014, 04:22:21 am »
So I know you can't just download multiple skins from several different modders but there are packs such as the Epic Enhancement Mod with skins from several different modders all packed into one and I was wondering how you would go about doing this? There are several skins that I love and would like to add.

                             What to expect
The 2e Chasseurs are a unit founded on a core of veteran skirmishers from Napoleonic Wars with three main principles. 1) We are, above all, playing this game for fun and that is at the heart of this regiment. 2) We are determined to be the best in our class. 3) We are a community, therefore each member is expected to get along and make friends. The requirements to joining the Belgian Chasseurs are based around a player's merit, not their popularity or even their skills. Skills can be taught and discipline can be drilled, but being an enjoyable person to be around is up to you the player. If you are fortunate enough to join, you will find yourself with some of the best friends you could ask for. Attempting to cause drama among the other members will be dealt with swiftly and harshly, in other words, don't do it. The 2e Chasseurs share a friendship and comradery forged from over 2 years of battle. You are expected to show an aptitude for working in the field, but everybody is given the chance to prove themselves. You will be taught to shoot, fight in close quarters, maneuver the battlefield, and to make split second decisions that could save your life or your comrades.

Joining
Earning the right to join the pack will test your battlefield skills and your people skills. Applicants must impress their comrades if they wish to earn their place. Someone aspiring to join the 2e Chasseurs must first fill out an application, if the application is approved, then the applicant will go through a training period that can last as long as 2 weeks. Applicants will be judged based on their ability to communicate and work well with others, their willingness to learn, and their skills in the field - in addition, a candidate must display gallantry in the face of the enemy as a right of passage. At any time during your training period the regimental officer can accept your application or kick you out of the Chasseurs, they do not have to wait the full 2 weeks if they deem their decision fit. If you are denied, you may apply again if another member of the regiment is willing to vouch for you. If you graduate from training, then congratulations! You will be given your tags and accepted into the ranks as a Chasseur. From there, it is up to you to earn your rank through skill and bravery.

2e Régiment de Chasseurs à Pied Belge
The 2e was present throughout the entire war and earned itself a great deal of distinction, in several battles they proved they could stand and face the Germans - and more importantly, win. After the battle, the 2e Chasseurs joined up with the Belgian Field Army and took part in the brave defense that slowed the German advance and gave the Allies and advantage in the war. The 2e Chasseurs was a light infantry unit therefore their training was splendid and well suited to rapid maneuvers, traversing rough terrain, and difficult delaying action that the Belgians so successfully employed. The 2e Chasseurs were part of the 16th Brigade of the 5th Division of the Belgian Army. The victories of the 2e Chasseurs were not as famous as those of the 3rd Division defending Liege but they were equally important and the 2e Chasseurs won through quick and aggressive maneuvers, sweeping the Germans off the field. The 2e Chasseurs earned 4 citations for gallantry during the war and was awarded the Order of Leopold. The stiff and unexpected resistance of the Belgians took the Germans by surprise. The Germans took their revenge by burning down towns and villages and committing atrocities against the civilians. But at the end of the war it was the Belgians who had the last laugh when together with the Allies they plunged headlong into the fray and spearheaded the Germans, reclaiming their homeland. The 2e even went on to become an occupation unit in Germany when the war was over. The Belgians fought harder than anyone could have ever expected them to and in the end they won the most hard-fought and well earned victory coming out of the world's darkest war.

Chasseurs Leloup
In 1789 the Austrians knew they needed a stronger military presence in Belgium and the Emperor called for a new body of "Jägers" and command of this unit was given to Captain Jean Leloup, a Belgian by birth but loyal to the Austrian Emperor. He published a notice in the Spirit Gazettes calling upon young men familiar with firearms to contact the Captain Leloup in Brussels. The Chasseurs Leloup originally only consisted of a single company of 36 men commanded by Captain Leloup but as they earned more and more fame and distinction in combat, their ranks swelled with more and more young riflemen wanting to fight the French. The Chasseurs Leloup quickly grew in size up to 68 men in one company and in one year they grew to 3 companies and in two years they grew to 6 companies! The Chasseurs Leloup fought in Belgium, Germany, and Italy, earning distinction in each and every combat, fighting in over 20 battles and countless skirmishes. What the Chasseurs Leloup brought to battle was something the Allies had rarely seen, they brought skirmishers who could outperform their French counterparts. Every Chasseur was armed with a good rifle and clad in the grey uniform of Austrian Jägers. The Chasseurs Leloup were even contributed with the French decision to look into a rifle pattern to equip their skirmishers with because they simply could not keep up with units like the Chasseurs Leloup! Their name "The Wolf's Hunters" gave them a fantastic reputation, a reputation well-earned in batte.

Historical Discussion / An interesting video on bayonets
« on: January 13, 2014, 10:42:24 pm »
I found this video today about bayonets, it's by Matt Easton, who, if you know anything about him, is highly knowledgeable about weapons from all over the world and his word is highly respected and valuable among historians and authors. In fact he wrote an intro for the book "Swordsmen of the British Empire" by D.A. Kinsley. In this video Easton talks about bayonets and reality versus fiction. It's worth watching as are all of Easton's videos and in fact I highly recommend that anyone looking to learn more about weapons and armor and their uses and applications check his videos out because they're usually short and to the point with no nonsense and it's all based on facts and real accounts from different periods and not his own personal opinions.

About The Regiment
The 1st Belgian Artillery is a regiment made in honor of the new Belgian Artillery unit recently added to the game as well as to honor the sexy
awesomeness of the Belgians. The men of the 1er are expected to know their way around a cannon and to be capable of overall discipline
and just being a fun and enjoyable person to be around. The requirements are strict, every artilleryman is expected to be able to load and fire
his gun with speed and precision. Every soldier in the 1er is a gunner, regardless of whether he is playing as one in a battle, each man must be
able to take over for the last. The artilleryman has to be a good judge of distance, trajectory, elevation, and terrain. It is a dirty job but somebody's
got to do it, and as the 1st Belgian Artillery, we make sure we do it best.

I was just wondering how do you rename a unit in NW? For example if I wanted to rename the 45e into say the 112e, how would I go about this?

Also, are there any good tutorials on how to reskin units in NW? I would like to get into making reskins 1) because I have some skins that I would like to have made that nobody seems to be willing to take up and 2) because I would like to help people who want skins made seeing as I have plenty of free time and I figure I could help

How active is the community in this mod? Because I love the setting and it's a fun mod but I've only ever seen like 5-6 people on at one time. And are there still events in this mod? Because I would really like to play in a large scale battle with this mod's setting. Thanks in advance.

« on: November 25, 2013, 08:18:53 am »
What are some of the most dangerous predators known to man? Just post your predator of choice, preferably with a picture, and maybe some info if you would like.

Although I could be typical me and just post the Mongoose and how awesome it is, I'll do something different and post this bad boy,

The Jaguar

The Jaguar is an extremely strong and dangerous predator, capable of dragging 800lbs animals through thick jungle and across raging rivers. Not only that, the Jaguar rivals the lion in size but is far faster, stronger, and more cunning. Jaguars are stalk and ambush predators, hunting alone and quite effectively. Jaguars have been known to kill animals with a single swipe of their paw, the sheer force alone can crush an animal's head with ease. Jaguars have another killing method that is rather unique to their species and that is to bite down on their prey's skull and simply crush it. Jaguars can do this because no other big cat can match the Jaguar's devastating bite.

The Jaguar has a devastating bite, capable of a whopping 2000psi bite force! To put that in perspective, Lions have a bite force of roughly 650psi, and Tigers have a bite force of roughly 1000~psi. What makes this even more impressive is that the Jaguar has a higher bite force than the hyena or even the Hippopotamus! Jaguars are devastating predators and have even been seen killing horses with single bites or swipes of their paws.

"The Iron Waffles"

       What to expect
The Iron Waffles are an old and experienced unit. We expect each member to have fun and to be a part of the community. Our requirements aren't based around skill - everybody can learn. To be an Iron Waffle requires you to get along with the other members of the community which shouldn't be hard. The Iron Waffles take care of each other and if you are fortunate enough to join our ranks, then you can look forward to having some of the best friends you could ever imagine. We don't take kindly to those who take away from the fun of the rest of the group and especially those who try to cause anger and division in the ranks. The Iron Waffles all share a friendship and comradery forged in the fires of battle. You are expected to show an aptitude for working in the field, but everybody is given the chance to prove themselves because sometimes what looks like a dirty, useless stone, is really a diamond waiting to be polished. You will be taught to shoot, fight in close quarters, maneuver the battlefield, and to make split second decisions that could save your life or your comrades.

Joining
Earning the right to be called an Iron Waffle has become more difficult yet rewarding than ever. After filling out an application, if an officer of the regiment approves said application, each candidate will go through a 2 week trial period known as "Waffle Camp." You will be judged and evaluated by your officers based upon your ability to communicate and work well with others, whether or not you detract from the overall fun of the group, as well as your willingness to learn and your gallantry. After the 2 weeks is up, you will either be accepted or declined. If you are declined, you may be given another chance if an officer of the regiment is willing to vouch for you. If you graduate from Waffle Camp then congratulations! You will be given your tags and welcomed into the ranks of the Iron Waffles as a Fuselier. From there, it is up to you to earn your ranks through skill and bravery.

Expectations
1) Display proper - if not excessive - gallantry
2) Display a sense of skill in the field or at least a willingness to learn field skills
3) The battlefield/training ground is usually not the place for screwing around
4) There is no age limit, but in battle we want players who will act at least semi-mature
5) Racism/discrimination will not be tolerated.
6) Remember to have fun

Things to know
The Iron Waffles are a group deeply rooted in the school of thought that this is a game and should be enjoyed. But at the same time, we boast a high level of morale and an unmatched Esprit de Corps. We accomplish this through cunning tactics, fierce determination, refined talent, and the pride of knowing you are part of a close-knit unit of reliable, enjoyable, skilled individuals. 7de Bataljon Belgische Infanterie
Regimental History
The 7de was formed from the 2nd Infantry Regiment of Flanders (Belgian Legion) shortly after the United Kingdom of the Netherlands was granted its sovereignty in 1813. The battalion was made up of men from Belgium and even one man from Philadelphia, America! It was stationed in Ghent and therefore most of its men were Flemish however that does not mean there were no Walloons in the 7de. Much of the 7de was made up of former veterans of the French army, Commander Francois-Chretien Vandensande served in the famous French 112th Line Infantry Regiment, and was awarded with Légion d’Honneur for personally bravery at the Battle of Raab. Captain L’Olivier served in the French 7th Line Infantry Regiment as commander of grenadier company. Captain Nieuport served in the French 13th Tirailleur Regiment of Young Guard. Lieutenant Nieulandt served in the 1st Regiment of Honor Guard. Lieutenant Scheltens served in the famous Grenadiers of Old Guard. Even the American, Martinus Fox, had fought in the Portugese army in every campaign during the Peninsular War.

Many men from the 7de earned battle honors for their bravery, many of them even received the Military Order Of William, the equivalent of the French Legion d'Honneur. And during the Battle of Quatre Bras, several members of the 7de saved the Prince of Orange from being captured by French chasseurs a cheval. Grateful to these men, the Prince tore a jewelled insignia from his coat and tossed it to them shouting "There my brave fellows! You have all deserved it!" With a cheer they fixed the insignia to their colors and carried on the fight.

During the Battle of Waterloo, the 7de fought as part of the Bijlandt Brigade which was positioned at the center of the allied lines, near La Haye Sainte. The Bijlandt Brigade was the first to endure the French infantry attack of d'Erlon's Corps as they were the furthest deployed allied brigade. The Bijlandt Brigade - which was the smallest of the Allied Brigades in the center - was subjected to the largest column of French infantry which was the column of Donzelot's Division. Lieutenant Hope of the British 92nd Gordon Highlanders wrote "The Belgians were assailed with a terrible fury and returned the fire of the enemy for quite some time with great spirit." And Colonel Van Zuylen Van Nyevelt wrote "Having approach us to within 50 paces not a shot had been fired, but now the impatience of the soldiers could do no longer be restrained, and they greeted the enemy with a double row." The 7de and the rest of the Bijlandt Brigade fearlessly fought the French at a terrifyingly close distance of 25 meters apart. They were led personally by the Prince of Orange in several assaults and bayonet charges that actually pushed the French infantry back before the famous charge of the British heavy cavalry. And during the battle, the Bijlandt Brigade actually advanced forward and drove the French infantry back, pursuing them all the way to the bottom of the slope until they ran out of ammunition. This event happened well before Wellington's "General Advance" order. After the battle, the 7de was heavily under strength, it's victory had come at a cost. But they continued on the march to Paris, victors of Waterloo and brave men all.

There is something I want to point out about bayonets and bayonet fighting and its current representation in-game. The thing to be remembered is that muskets are long and heavy weapons, about 10+ pounds of wood and metal and a 1-2 pound bayonet at the end of it. The speed with which a bayonet can be thrust, feinted, and blocked with and any sequence of the three is insane, the bayonet is just tossed around like it weighs less than a feather. The bayonet is not a graceful weapon, it shouldn't be treated like one. I suggest that bayonets have the "unbalanced" trait which makes recovering from thrusts longer, it keeps the thrusting speed but when recovering from a thrust, the reaction will be slower due to the character struggling to regain control of the 12+ pound pole that he just shoved forward as hard as he could.

Another thing I want to point out is that saber briquets and shortswords have as much effect as a dull butterknife striking steel. I understand that a saber briquet is not an ideal combat weapon but striking somebody with a direct hit to the face should not be any less lethal than a bayonet to the face. The damage a long blade like that can do to the human head is horrifying, and if stabs to the stomach (which is an infamously slow and painful death) can be instant kills, slashes to the face and neck should be too. I'm not asking for the saber briquet to be a super weapon or to even be on par with bayonets, just that they be realistic.

The Dutch Army at Quatre Bras and Waterloo

The Bijlandt Brigade
The Bijlandt Infantry Brigade fought hard at Waterloo, where units such as the 27th Jager Battalion and the 7th Line Battalion were heavily engaged by the French and were crucial in securing a victory at Waterloo. The 7th Line even saved the Prince of Orange from French Chasseurs-a-Cheval, earning many battle honors for their daring rescue. The Next day at Waterloo, the already exhausted and undersized brigade bore the assault of the largest French infantry column to attack the Allied center, the division of Donzelot. Despite the odds, the Bijlandt Brigade fought the French in an extended and effective firefight, halting the French advance and fighting fiercely to throw them back. The Bijlandt Brigade was deployed further ahead than any of the other Allied brigades and so was subject  to the full weight of the French infantry and artillery. Seeing the lack of support on either side, the brigade withdrew to a position closer to their allies and carried on the fight. The Bijlandt brigade was lead personally by the Prince of Orange himself in several charges and counter-attacks which effectively pushed the French infantry back several times. At one point in the battle the Bijlandt Brigade advanced, pursuing the French all the way to the bottom of the famous ridge until they ran out of ammunition and had to withdraw.

Chasse's Third Netherlands Division
The Third Netherlands Infantry Division was kept out of the fighting for much of the battle because of Wellington's obvious mistrust of Chasse and the Dutch-Belgian troops as a whole. This is because many of the Dutch-Belgian soldiers were veterans of the French military and Chasse himself had faced off with Wellington many times in Spain. But when Wellington gave the order for the "General Advance" Chasse, who was known as "General Bayonet" by his fellow officers, seize the opportunity and bayonet charged the French Old Guard, completely breaking and routing them. British accounts claim that the Old Guard was already defeated by the time Chasse's division made its attack however the British brigades engaging the Old Guard had been shattered by their attack. With drums and fifes roaring the division attacked and sent the Old Guard fleeing. The Pride of the French Military was shattered by the Dutch-Belgians.

Ghigny's Brigade
Major-General Ghigny's Brigade of Light Cavalry, comprised of the 4th Dutch Light Dragoons and the 8th Belgian Hussars, is perhaps one of the most heavily engaged units of light cavalry of the entire Allied army. Throughout the battle, Ghigny acted on his own initiative to counter-charge and throw back several French cuirassier and lancer attacks. Each of these actions was a resounding success and in one engagement, the brigade counter-charged the French lancers who were slaughtering the retreating British Union Brigade. In the words of eye witnesses, the 8th Belgian Hussars (who comprised the front of the charge) fought with "insane gallantry."

Tripp's Brigade
Major-General Tripp's Brigade of Heavy Cavalry, comprised of the 1st (Dutch), 2nd (Belgian), and 3rd (Dutch) Carabinier regiments, was sent into action to counter-charge the French cuirassiers during Marshal Ney's massive cavalry attack. After the near complete annihilation of all British heavy cavalry brigades, Tripp's Brigade was the largest remaining force of Allied heavy cavalry. During Ney's cavalry attack, Major-General Tripp charged his brigade into the left flank of the French cuirassiers, utterly shattering them and majorly contributing to the destruction of the French cavalry attack. The 2nd Belgian Carabiniers were led personally by the Prince of Orange in a charge that routed and pursued the French cavalry off the field entirely. It was late in the battle and he rallied the tired cavalrymen by waving his sword and shouting "Come my comrades, let us put our sabers to these Frenchmen! The Victory is ours!"

Merlen's Brigade
Merlen's Light Cavalry Brigade, which was made up of the 5th Belgian Light Dragoons and the 6th Dutch Hussars, was not so heavily engaged at Waterloo, but in the days before Waterloo they had captured several French patrols and cavalry units during skirmishes at at the border. But because the British government had declared war on Napoleon and not on France, Wellington ordered that Merlen's Brigade release all of the men it had captured. The Prince of Orange grudgingly did so and sent Wellington a very politely worded letter. Making sure he clarified that the order to release the enemy prisoners had been Wellington's desire, not his own.

The 36ste Belgische Jager Bataljon server is often open to the public save for when the 36ste is in the middle of a training. The most common gamemode for the server is Deathmatch however we sometimes take requests from the players on what gamemode the majority would like to play. The admins on the 36ste Jager Server are fair and just and will not, have not, and do not abuse their privileges and you can count on them to take care of any problems.

Server Rules

1. No teamkilling
2. No recruiting unless you are part of the 36ste, it's quite rude
3. No wounding other teammates or killing their horses
4. Try to avoid wasting your team's build points
5. "Offensive language" is not a concern in our server, free speech runs rampant

Contacting an admin

You may contact a server admin through steam @KillerMongoose1346 or @HerrGregg or by posting on this thread or private messaging me. However, please do not ask for the admin password because it changes often and we do not plan on giving it to anyone outside of the 36ste.
