Becker's Conquest Event *Brainstorming* N/A
« on: December 19, 2013, 06:45:55 pm »
So, for those of you who have been around the MM/NW community for some time now remember the good old conquest events that were there but near extinct. I want to revive them.

I always thought that Conquest events tend to be pretty fun mainly because it gives lower ranking members in regiments leadership opportunities if you run it right. So my goal is to yet again get one running, BUT I want to make sure that it is exactly how the community wants it to be.

So I want you guys to throw out ideas at me, give me some opinions. How big should the lines be, should there be arty or cavalry, Fol and Foc. So just throw some at me.

Here is what I have in mind.

  • Regiments that want to take part in the event must have at least 10 members to attend.
  • You MUST have at least a 5 man line to move out of a spawn point
  • You may only fire when you are in a line of 3. (This for instance will take place when a capture point is under attack but may not have the men to move out of the base)
  • There is NO Fire on Charge
  • Obviously there is no Firing out of line aswell.
  • There may be Artillery, but must not exceed a maximum of 8 players (Arty Guard included)
  • Artillery is allowed to have 2 cannons due to the size of the maps.
  • Cavalry is not allowed mainly due to the fact that they are able to cover ground too quickly.
  • If a line dwindles down to less than 3 men, that line must charge.

** Added Rules **
  • A regiment is allowed to garrison and fire out of buildings, BUT firing MUST cease when an enemy player enters the garrisoned building.
  • If the threat inside the house is eliminated the regiment may continue firing.
  • Half man spacing will be enforced.
  • Do not worry, double ranks are not required.

That is all I can think of right now on rules. If I missed anything let me know.

Now I need to figure out when to host the event. This is where regiment leaders need to voice their opinions.

The ideal time for myself and the 54th are able to host this would be on Sundays at 8 or 8:30 PM Eastern Time.

So to clarify,
Sundays 8 or 8:30 PM Eastern Time

My regiment attended Grimsight's Thursday conquest, but there were a few event-breaking problems that came up every single week. The biggest was the lack of admins watching the spawns, taking care of rambos that would run out and make the game frustrating, since you could never have 3 minutes without some rambo running out and backstabbing your line. So if you want this to be a good event I suggest you get at least 4 admins to spectate the game and make sure the rules are upheld strictly. Another big problem was cav, but it seems you took care of that

That's the plan, don't know who yet. It will all depend on who isn't in the event or in another at the current time.

A few rules have been added.

Quote
** Added Rules **

If the threat inside the house is eliminated the regiment may continue firing.
Half man spacing will be enforced.
Do not worry, double ranks are not required.

My next question;
How should those who break rules such as leaving the spawn with less than 5 men in a line be handled?

I believe that it should be handled by if by one player:
1st Offense: Slay of the player leaving the enemy team one more spawn less.
2nd Offense: kick/temporary ban from the event.
3rd Offense: Ban from the event until his/her regiment leader contacts you about their behavior.

IF a whole regiment is a problem:
1st Offense: A solid reminder of the rules
2nd Offense: A slay of the whole regiment(each member) at least once to lower the number of spawns the team has.
3rd Offense: A temporary removal from the event
4th Offense: A Permanent removal from the event unless admin(s) see fit to allow them back.

Of course these are just basic ways to handle the event, and extra rules and Offenses can be handled differently and accordingly. This is just a black and white outline. Just figure a way to color it up :)

Also, the rule that is the line is 2 or less guys that they should charge. This creates that rambo situation that everyone hates. Instead I believe that those members should have to return to one of their flags and either await reinforcements or join up with one of their regiment lines.

So if you want this to be a good event I suggest you get at least 4 admins to spectate the game and make sure the rules are upheld strictly.

You're being unrealistic.

And this is coming from a guy who created an intergalactic space regiment to attend Napoleonic linebattle events.

How so? I find have at least 4 admins would be a comfortable cushion know that rules WILL be enforced.
