The regiment was raised at Newcastle in 1741 as the 46th Regiment of Foot in 1751 under the command of Lt-Gen Thomas Murray, and took a county title as the 46th (South
Devonshire) Regiment of Foot in 1782.

In 1749 the Regiment was stationed in Ireland, where they remained for eight years. Whilst they were in Ireland, the Seven Years' War broke out, and the 46th were relocated to
Nova Scotia. During their time in Canada, the 46th were involved in several battles, including:
Assault on Fort Ticonderoga, July 8, 1758
Assault and Capture of Fort Niagara, July 25, 1759
Assault and Capture of Fort Lévis, August 25, 1760
Capture of Montreal,September 8, 1760.
Then the 46th moved over to fight in the American War Of Independence and took part in some of the biggest and most key siege's and battle's such as:
Capture of Long Island, August 28, 1776
Capture of New York, 1776
Capture and Reduction of Fort Washington, 1776
Capture of Philadelphia, 1777
Battle of Germantown, October 4, 1777
They had a long and hard fight in the America's! After the america's the regiment then returned to wales and there it stayed until 1854 and took part in the Crimean War.

As a recruit you are encouraged to attend events as much as you can, doing so will quickly earn you promotion.
Private. [Pvt]
As A Private you are expected to attend as much as you can and fight as well as you can.
Private First Class [Pfc]
The Officers have noticed your hard work, keep it up and you will make Non-Commissioned Officer in no time!
Non-Commissioned Officer (NCO)
Lance Corporal [LCpl]
Being a Lance Corporal shows you have proven yourself to be a responsible and skilled soldier. Now set an example for the other Enlists!
Corporal [Cpl]
You have exepted your orders and set a good example! You must now show your worth in a fight and help enforce orders given by your Commanding Officer
Sergeant [Sgt]
As a Sergeant your job is to keep discipline, encourage the men and show how a good man fights!
Colour Sergeant [CSgt]
As A Colour Sergeant your job is to make sure the line is in order and to make sure the officers are alive! You may be given a flag to carry
Sergeant Major. [SgtM]
Your job as a Sergeant Major is to make sure all the men are happy and all orders are obeyed to the letter! May lead trainings.

You have shown maturity and responsibility. Primarily you are here to learn the ways of an Officer.

You are mature,responsible and a good leader. You will lead lines from time to time

It is possible you have been granted your own company, You are expected to ensure your men are all kept to the highest levels of effort and satisfaction!

Your Third in command of the entire regiment! with great power comes great responsibility!
Lieutenant Colonel [LtCol]
The colonel's right hand man! you are expected to give the regiment a good name, and will lead on the absence of the Colonel

You are the leader, Dont let your regiment down!
Battalions
The 46th Currently Have 3 Battalions.
We have the first battalion of Line Infantry:Your duty as line infantry is to be on the front lines! You are good at shooting and can hold your own in melee!
We have the second battalion of Skirmishers/Light Infantry:Your duty as Light Infantry is to be awesome at shooting from far away distances that the line infantry can not do! You will be absolutely destroyed in a melee fight and must avoid it at all costs!
We have the third battalion of Grenadiers/Foot Guards:Your duty as Grenadiers/Foot Guards is to be able to hold your own in a gun fight, and Excell in a melee where the Line Infantry & Skirmishers can not!
