Napoleonic Wars 5v5 Sword Tournament

Hello, NW Community! On the 16th of May, 2015 (Saturday), we will be hosting the 2nd edition of 5v5 sword tournament!

Everyone will be welcome to participate. We aim to get 32 teams going for the occasion. The tournament is simple: You spawn as a line infantry officer and your objective is to eliminate the enemy team. The rules, and other general information, are written just down below. A referee will be provided for each server.

General Information Tournament will take place on 16 May Saturday, 19.30 GMT. There will be 32 teams, to ensure anyone that who wants to, can participate. Server location will be France. The amount of servers will decided depending on the amount of teams. Tournament map will be a specially-made infantry groupfighting map, to ensure fps-free gameplay for everyone. We will share the screenshots in this thread. Melee Speed will be medium. Tournament Factions will be Russia and Austria. Brackets will be randomised and released a few hours before the tournament starts. The Direct Elimination System (DES) will be used. Teams are allowed to have up to a total of 8 players, with a maximum of 5 players on the field. Tournament Rules Games are: First to 3. The Semi-Final, Bronze Match and Final Match are first to 5. Line Infantry Officers Only. No Shooting. No Intentional Teamkilling. Swords only! Spawn only when you're told to spawn, otherwise stay spectator. Simply don’t be a dick (this includes spamming, trolling, flaming others, list goes on). No delaying Rounds. Application form Please keep in mind that if you don’t have all team members and information at the ready, you can still apply and get accepted. However, if you do not fill in the whole application within a week after you apply, there is a chance you may be removed. And everybody is allowed to update and change the members of the team until the tournament starts.

Tournament Factions will be France and Austria.

Why not Russia and Austria or Prussia and Austria or Prussia and Russia ? If you wonder why I ask, it's because in France, officers have a longer yet slower sword, on the other hand, russian and austrian officers have the same sword, which would insure a perfect balance with no people able to complain on the sword used.

Just saying, I don't personally care as I can fight with both swords, but still, just wanted to point that out.

Lubu raised a fair point. It's from common knowledges that the French Saber is one of the best infantry sword, because it mixes speed and dammages while having still a decent reach. I won't like playing with basic infantry swords however I must admit that If you aim to make it as fair as possible, Lubu is right, making it Russia and Austria would ensure a perfect balance (Prussia have two infantry officers who have a different saber tho, Lubu ^^).

I wouldn't mind this slight unbalance as I don't think it would change the outcome of a match but you might want to prevent yourself from some people complaining about it while the tournament has started.
