We strive to become a more valued part of the community through strength and honour. The Sutherland Highlanders were raised three times before they were formally known as the Sutherland Highlanders. They were originally raised as the 1st Sutherland Fencibles in Scotland in 1759. After the disbanding on the 1st by Lord Reay in 1763 the 2nd Sutherland Fencibles were formed in 1779 by Elizabeth, Countess of Sutherland. Finally, in 1793 the 3rd Sutherland Fencibles were raised by Lieutenant Colonel William Wemyss. They were finally disbanded in 1799 at Fort George.

Upon its disbandment the 93rd Regiment of Foot were enlisted on behalf of Elizabeth, Countess of Sutherland. When the 93rd were called to duty finally in August 1800 not a single one of these brave Highlanders failed to report to duty. And as such, they had sufficient man to march on, under, now Major General, William Wemyss. The first major conflict of the 93rd was on 28 December 1814. As the British advanced on New Orleans the 93rd Highlanders came under direct fire. They remained in deep cover, under constant rain and in dire situation for 5 hours until the British finally retreated. The final assault of the British occurred on the 8th of January. As the battle raged on Lieutenant Colonel Dale died and when no other orders were send to advance or withdraw the 93rd stood firm. They held their ground while being completely overrun, until finally orders came to withdraw. The 93rd were commemorated for their immense bravery and it was noted that: “To the very edge of the canal before the rampart the few that were left of the kilted regiment marched, then halted there. The men who had been detailed to bring scaling ladders and fascines had failed to come up. Unable to go forward, too proud to retreat, although the regiment behind them had all fallen back. At length a mere handful of what had been the magnificent regiment slowly retired, still in unbroken order, still turning to face the foe. From the ramparts the Americans cheered them wildly. All rifle fire ceased.” – The Thin Red Line, Regimental Journal, January 1968

Like most British regiments, the 93rd Highlanders developed its own traditions and character, some of which survived amalgamations. The 93rd Highlanders were reputed to be the most religious regiment in the British Army, outdoing even the Cameronians who were originally formed from religious zealots. The regiment formed its own parish, with ministers and elders chosen from the ranks by the ranks. Two sergeants, two corporals, and two privates would be elected to serve as elders. The regiment was also said to be the only regiment with its own regular communion plate. There was also a long tradition of familial service within the regiment. The regiment recruited heavily from Sutherland and Caithness. Prior to amalgamation, there were no more than a dozen family names in the ranks as opposed to the 91st Highlanders who had 323 Irishmen and 501 Englishmen in its ranks. Early in the regiment's history, it was common to see the regiment parade with a pet deer. The first deer was the pet for Sergeant Samuel Macdonald.

We use an historical ranking system and we proudly claim to promote those who are most deserving, in our eyes and those of Mr. Hemingway.

Like we mentioned before, we strive to improve ourselves and our group. We do this, through distinct cooperation and through trainings and events. We design our schedule so most people can attend, however we ask our members to strive to attend at least 2 events per week. * Internal Event: During these events we aim to improve our community sense by playing different games or variations on well known games within the community. By doing so we establish a connection with each other that surpasses Napoleonic Wars. These events are not mandatory and members can decide at their own leisure to attend or not. ** 18:30 or 19:00 GMT: The time this event starts depends on whether the Command Staff decides to hold a training (for example focussing on improving new members etc) or to organise an irregular 1v1. The 1v1 will have a small training on forehand and will therefor commence at 18:30, while the regular training will start at a normal 19:00 GMT.

In the 93rd Highlanders we strive to become something greater than a group of individuals, we strive to become a powerful and close group of friends and champions. Therefore we try, like Mr. Emerson so beautifully stated, become useful, honorable, compassionate and to make a difference. In the 93rd Highlanders we accomplish this through certain committees. These are small groups of people who all aim to accomplish certain aspects of the regiment. These committees hold elections every month. You can put your name forward for a committee between the 1st and the 5th of every new month. Fulfilling a committee with great success will grand you merits in the eyes of the CO's, however, failing at such a job will of course have a negative effect on your standing. When you have more merits you will sooner be accepted into higher tier committees (which can reward more merits etc) and you will sooner be promoted to an NCO rank. Every committee is led by a CO and has certain conditions for joining.

In the 93rd Highlanders we have the great distinction to use custom skins, a custom regimental flag and a custom overhead banner. These were all created by Kaasovic, for which we are him eternally grateful. Please, enjoy our skins at your own disposal. The skins replace the 42nd Blackwatch unit (and renames them to the 93rd), furthermore it changes the red and white chequered banner on the 4th page to our regimental colours/emblem.
