MERS-CoV. Discovered in 2012, first cases in some European countries in 2014 and some troubles in Saudi Arabia. It never turned into a pandemic though, it's endemic in Saudia Arabia as far as I know.

That's what he referred to. Nothing out of the ordinary, no "crazy context/coincidence". He did not predict COVID19.
Funny how we have been talking about "the" Coronavirus for years now, but apparently nearly noone cared to look beyond SARS-CoV-2.

Coronaviruses have been around for thousands of years or even longer, it's just the SARS mutations that fucked us up.
