This regiment is the spiritual successor to the 15th (Yorkshire, East Riding) Regiment of Foot [NA], founded by PurplePanda & TheMightyLips. We are a regiment dedicated to professionalism and maturity. If you would like to join, please contact any officer on Steam! History The regiment spent most of the French Revolutionary Wars (1792-1802) back in the Mediterranean. It fought at Toulon (1793), on Corsica (1794) and Minorca (1798), before moving to Italy and Malta in 1799. The 30th then joined the British force in Egypt in 1801. It returned to Britain in 1802 and a year later formed a 2nd Battalion. This regiment served in the Peninsular War (1808-14) from 1809, fighting at Fuentes de Onoro (1811) Badajoz (1812) and Salamanca (1812), where it captured a French eagle. It had suffered such losses by December 1812 that its six weakest companies had to return to Britain to recruit, while the four strongest ones merged with a battalion of the 44th Regiment of Foot to form the 4th Provisional Battalion. This dissolved in 1813 and the four companies from 2nd Battalion re-joined the six newly-recruited companies in Jersey later that year. 2nd Battalion moved to Holland in 1814 and fought at Waterloo (1815), at one point forming square and resisting 11 French charges. In 1817 the battalion was disbanded. In the meantime, 1st Battalion sent five companies to fight in Hanover and northern Germany in 1805, before regrouping the following year to travel to India. It stayed there for over 20 years, sending detachments to Java and Portuguese Macao in 1807-08. It also fought in the Third Maratha War (1817-19). For the next 35 years it alternated between overseas postings, including Bermuda, Nova Scotia and the Ionian Islands, and time in Britain and Ireland. In a game where shots are mostly 1-hits or will get someone down to a guaranteed kill with a decent enough melee swing (or sometimes a kick/punch), it's worth accepting that shooting can be improved on with practice and instruction, and it's pretty dumb to write something off like that when it can actually be improved upon. In another, more melee/shield based module or game, yeah, who the fuck cares about shooting. But the guns in NW are pretty controllable, more so than the majority of people think, and that allows for some pretty huge swings in a fight. If two lines are equally skilled in melee and in equal numbers, the side that gets the best and most shots off is considerably more likely to win.This.
If you watch the LG vs 3e 1v1 from last night, we were equally skilled in melee. We only won because our guys knew where and how to shootLiquid can vouch for my leadership style. I can be quite hand holdey however we win the majority of our shoot outs just by one of our leaders calling out where they should be aiming. I don't just mean at long range but at short. Telling your guys to aim for the parts of the line that are about to reload for example, can not only get you kills but keep your members alive.
What I don't understand is why there is such a heavy emphasis on melee during 1v1s and linebattles when groupfighting exists. Groupfighting exists in order to place that emphasis on melee, while 1v1s are about overall skill and tactics. Shooting and leadership used to be the specialization for the 63e when they dominated in NWL S4. Usually if you can outsmart the other line and get your shots off in a good angle you can make enough casualties to easily win in melee.Mm, no. The 63e could shoot well but it was teamwork in melee that won them the matches. Skill wise the 71st was better but the 63e could groupfight better
There's a reason EU players have almost unanimously preferred EU events over NA events. Specifically in 1v1s, which are quite a bit different than multi-reg events, things like no more firing after a melee has begun, absolutely no aiming for officers (anyone remember 1v1 events that had a round restart over that shit?), arbitrary rules about what hill camping means and how long someone can take before moving 10 feet to hill camp again, all that nonsense really devolved the team gameplay of this game. And it's the bandwagon structure of this game that prevents regiments from boycotting known events/tourneys with shitty rules in favor of new events/tourneys with actually great and fun ones.I didn't quite catch what the reason is, could you elaborate? I wouldn't say we're the most stacked regiment in NW history. That title belongs to regiments like the 9y and 12th.It's debatable given that the community has changed so much since that era and now that the competitive scene is smaller it means the LG makes up more % of the competitive community (along with the 3eVolt) which makes the LG more stacked and that much more unbeatable in melee.

The 30th did really well. Getting the score to 15-11 even with a few mercs is nothing to be ashamed about. It's really, really good and I think they should be proud of it. With a few more players and some more training and just time, the 30th are going to be pretty top notch.

92nd was fantastic, it hit all the bullets needed to make a top reg, they just didn't feel like they had anything to prove after they beat every competitive regiment who would challenge them. 92nd never challenged people, by the way, it only had people who thought they could beat it and failed, and those who never risked trying.
It had some of the best yet most humble players in the game (the people who won't brag about all the shit they pulled off). Littlefield, Zzehth, Zocko, Coconut (might have just been in the bandwagon reformation, dunno if he was in the original), Orcaryo, Achilles/Catbutts/JD, even you, Wind, bandwagoned in that reunion tour that didn't go so well. I won't mention the people who begged LF until he reformed it and then just didn't show up to anything and didn't do any of the NCO responsibilities they said they would do, but they were great members, too, way back in the day. I don't think any other NA regiment other than 92nd and 63e could boast back then that they could field 2+ lines each bigger than what most regs would bring to events at the time AND be super competitive in 1v1s.

A returning league with the name of Gold 5v5 Groupfighting League will be re-hosting a season 2 under the same organizer Aurum, with Risk of the 3eVolt and I assisting him in making sure the league runs smoothly since Aurum does not have the time alone to organize everything himself. Season 1 was ran very smoothly and was reciprocated well by the community. For season 2 we hope for even more teams signing up as we have quite a large prize pool and 3 servers to use thanks to Dan the Chef as well as Aurum. This is a trusted league and it is going to be a very good thing for the competitive community to spark things back up.
The idea of other events such as starting the 8th season of NWL or perhaps starting up a Regimental Groupfighting League has been brought up recently. Currently I do not believe it is the right timing for these kinds of leagues/events.
